Our little girl managed to drop my partners Note 3 on the floor yesterday. The screen is not cracked in anyway but now only half the screen will turn on while the other half is black.

I phoned my insurance company up as we but was advised as we had no accidental cover it would not be covered.

Anyone know how much it would cost to replace the screen? Would it be worth just getting a new phone due to have much it would cost?

You would be looking at around £100 for the replacement screen, maybe a little cheaper if you don't mind waiting for one from China.

I can see one on Ebay for £68 and in the UK (a guy in Slough).

I'm guessing it's 2nd hand, but his feedback looks good.

If not try some of the small independent shops/stalls that offer screen replacement.

Don't attempt it yourself if you have not done anything like that before or know somebody that does though.

Cheers for the replies. Will have a look at that and around ebay for some others as well.

Is it worth adding the cover for my home insurance then claiming for it that way?

That's called fraud, and the call you made would have been logged.

I phoned my insurance company up as we but was advised as we had no accidental cover it would not be covered.
It's a good way to get your insurance cancelled and then having to answer "Yes" to the question "Have you ever had an insurance policy cancelled by the issuer".

See now much that question answered yes will load any new policy you try to get including your car insurance on every renewal for the future.

And even worse, unlike questions about previous claims which look at the last 5 years or so or criminal convictions which you don't have to declare after they are spent, the question 'Have you ever had insurance cancelled' would need to be answered with a yes for the rest of your life.

So basically a life sentence to "save" £100.

Like others have said I would not chance it.

Worth looking at your bank for the future though as my wife and myself have a joint account and we get mobile phone insurance for both of our phones for upgrading the account for I think it's around £7/month (so £3.50 each to insure our phones is not too bad (even though she only has a lot cheaper Honor 4X phone now)).
