Yet tiffanys reality background seems to be above this criticism for some reason

I don't think it should be but having said that it may be that far more people have seen the likes of Geordie Shore and Towie than any of the shows Tiffany was on and thus may not be as aware of her tv history

Her small band of followers keep saying she is amazing so they are obviously aware of previous work

I think that might be your answer. I suspect most of us don't know who she is so are just taking her as we find her, rather than judging her for her background. I know that applies for me. I don't know her so can only assess what I see in the house. So far, so good but with 2-3 weeks to go there is plenty of time for her to morph into a monster. Or not.

I'd never heard of Tiffany before this like Farrah last series and my only concern was the comparisons with her but she seems nothing like Farrah so far and I really like her, so far.

Is it? I've always assumed when people criticize HMs who come from a reality TV background, that that included Tiffany.

It's more shocking she wants to get in Darren's pants and expects them to be friend.. Yes like his wife would be happy with that.

she doesn't often ask other HMs if they would like a drink when she makes a cuppa herself.

She fancies Darren, but won't go there as he's married & now she fancies Steph's sloppy seconds.

I don't criticise the TOWIE or Sex on the Beach contestants because they're from reality telly, I criticise them because they're so boring and predictable!

I'd say it's simply because she's an unknown in the UK now. Flavor of Love/I Love New York were all shown on MTV in like 2008. Not that it got her much exposure over here but a lot of time has passed since then. Anybody seems to qualify as a celeb now so the public didn't really need to look further than "US reality star" People need to remember, in this day and age you have shows in the UK like Geordie Shore where people are trying to be outrageous and do anything to grab headlines i.e. shagging on camera. When Tiffany was on Flavor of Love, she got famous by chance. She was the one carrying the show because of her personality.

People seem to run with this whole agenda that she was an absolute nasty bitch and that she's faking it on CBB. I wouldn't strictly say that's true. While she was a bitch, she was more about being over the top and annoying the other girls. Most of her arguments came with a whole dose of humour. She was in a house with 19 ratchet girls and played on their nerves until she set them off. She was no more nasty than any other girl in there. She was in it to win it. That's why she's the kind of person who would be perfect for a show like Big Brother. It just so happens that she's not surrounded by ratchet or ghetto bitches, therefore she comes across more chilled. Also she is 34 now. I don't think we're gonna see the 'New York' people are expecting but I do think she's a great housemate with no filter

I don't think she is above criticism, maybe she is just surprising people with how she is coming across.

But this can be afforded to any of the others.
Scotty made a comment showing a certain degree of intelligence the other night and the reaction was positive - "Wow he actually has a brain".

Part of the reason why I'm liking Tiffany so much is because she is NOT coming across like she did on her prior reality TV. She has surprised me and endeared herself to me in that respect. Gemma and Megan are proving themselves to be just as vacuous and dull as they come across on their respective shows.

For the record, I have nothing against people who are famous for being on Reality TV. Indeed, I absolutely loved both Vicky and Fearne on I'm A Celeb last year. They have to show me they have a personality beyond the heavily manufactured world of reality TV for me to like them, and so far, in this house, only Tiffany has done that.

This is a great post but I also think it's important to point out that Flava of Love and the TOWIE/Essex types are different types of shows. Flava of Love and its ilk are reality shows through and through, with Flava of Love being about a contest to win the heart of Flav while shows like Bad Girls Club is a show about a bunch of girls living in a house getting drunk and fighting each other.

From what I've seen of TOWIE/Essex/Geordie Shore etc is reality but trying to dress it up as real life. And so the contrived drama and acting that appears on the show then appears as part of the protagonists public persona and spills into the tabloids and then they feel they have to maintain this character to maintain column inches which is why, in my opinion, they get more accusations of being fake and being disliked.
