Jason Momoa does absolutely nothing for me at all No idea why as on paper I should love him.

Although I can see the attraction in this photo, generally I find him just a bit too unkempt.
I like him with long hair and stubble like the above but I don't like him clean shaven and short hair like his Baywatch days

As we're approaching Season Two I figured a nice round up video of all Alec's smart assery in S1 was appropriate.

Enjoy!

We really do need to do a Season 1 rewatch (so we can talk about it all over again)

More sneak peeks.

Find Jace!

In the January 2 premiere, the Shadow World is in upheaval as Valentine and The Circle continue to grow stronger by the minute, while our Shadowhunter team quickly becomes disillusioned with The Clave and their reaction to the recent events.
Loyalties will be tested, unlikely bonds will be made and relationships will be pushed to the limit as the Shadowhunters and their Downworlder friends make their way in a new world.

I'm finding it hard to get excited about it at the moment. Although I did enjoy my rewatch of Season 1. And even Valentine wasn't as completely worthless as I felt he was on the first viewing.

I can't believe it's only a few weeks until it's back on our screens. And more episodes this time around.

Shadowhunters is back with a vengeance then! I thought that was a really good season opener putting the new players in place and laying down the season's narrative.

Bit too much mucking about with my Malec for my liking though! Although good to see Alec going along to apologise and bloody hell Harry looked hot doing his magic exercises out on the balcony Matt is as gorgeous as ever and I particularly enjoyed the scene where he confronted Maryse.

Also loved the Jace and Valentine scenes, much better attempt to demonstrate how evil and powerful Valentine actually is. And, speaking of, love the new design on the Seraph blades, they were seriously cool.

Loved Simon's run in with the werewolves, hilariously paced and worked perfectly to break up what had been a fairly dark and brooding episode up to that point.

Overall 7.5 out of 10 for me and looking forward to next week.

Alec should at least have done a double take looking at shirtless Magnus - I mean - those abs!

Hellooo. I watched it and I thought

1. It was an OK first episode. Shadowhunters has always been frightful crap of the hackneyest possible derivative fashion. It's not Van Helsing bad, but it's pretty dreadful.

2. Cadiva said it's targetted toward Tweens now, which kinda makes me dislike it a little bit more.

iii. The MUSIC was just GOD-AWFUL. It's starting to sound like an MTV show (which is NOT a good thing). That fight scene was just dreadful. We don't need all this music blasting out to enjoy our shows (quite the opposite).

Four. Didn't much care for the new characters and Jocelyn could be... well, I'll hold fire on a judgement but she should still be back in Valentine's magic cocoon. My issue is (Jocelyn excluded) they're all such hideous stereotypes.

6. Didn't like the new Seraph Blades. At all. Sure, they're swordy, but I liked the crystal feel (AKA plastic) of the old ones.

Ultimately. it's never going to win any awards. It caters to the lowest common denominator, but Alex and Magnus are awesome (I am never going to say M****C) and to be fair, Clary has come a fair way to being a lot less annoying.

It's watchable. And, did I mention - this year - how pretty they all are?

With 19 more episodes, let's see what happens next week, but right now, I'm not hooked.

Hell, I'm not even in the same ocean as the bait.

I know right Harry has always had a seriously crushable torso

No, I said the books were for tweens The TV show is definitely weighted higher and right into the 18-39 advertising bracket. I'm outside the target audience but I enjoy it for what it is - lots of pretty people telling a slightly convoluted tale of "good and evul".

It also probably helps that I did force my way through the books which you haven't done (and I totally understand why!). This Mortal Instruments series is poor, it improves slightly in the final 3 but it's the other stuff she's done since - the Magnus Bane Chronicles, The Dark Artifices etc, which are a huge improvement.

ETA: If it wasn't for Malec, I probably would never have read the books/watched the film/TV show but I love that pairing. It's one of the few things which she's done well.
