Oh my sweet Lord what an episode! Very definitely best one yet. All the cast upped their game and the dialogue and presentation was 100 times better.

Jace! Alec! what an amazing scene that was, superbly executed, utterly believable and Dom Sherwood brought his A game to match Matt Daddario's level of delivery perfectly.

Izzy! Alec! the Lightwood dynamic being split apart by bloody Lydia.

Bloody Lydia, who gave us some exposition about why she's a Clave bitch but I still actually quite like the character even if she is just there to throw interference in the Malec dynamic.

Malec! Magnus' face when Alec broke the news about him marrying Lydia. My heart is broken and I can't stop watching that scene. Once again the most charismatic pairing is that of Matt and Harry.

Simon! Loved all of his stuff this episode, so well done, the horror of what he's become, the realisation he's undead, the thirst for blood, his anger at Clary and then his ultimate acceptance of the situation.

Everyone joining forces to rescue Meliorn, who'd revealed the info that Clary had the Mortal Cup to Lydia and her gang and who then revealed his surprise at the end when he told her he could help find Valentine.

So much going on this episode but it never felt rushed, in fact the pacing was superb, just enough action scenes and vastly improved dialogue with the smallest amount of exposition.

Yesterday I actually watched all nine episodes again and, I have to say when you do it like that, without the week long break in between, they actually work much better as a package.

I think this will be a series I can watch over and over again, very much like Buffy (and no I'm not saying it's anywhere near as good as that!) which itself didn't really hit its stride until a couple of seasons in.

I'm really hoping it gets a second season as I think it does deserve it, there are still some issues with dialogue but in terms of pacing and narrative, it's tightened up considerably and the cast's experience working together the more they filmed also shows I think.

Kat and Dom in the first couple of episodes didn't really seem to be working as a pairing for me but by this last episode that's vastly improved and there is now chemistry and a connection between them.

I'm glad they've had Harry and Matt though because that Malec pairing kept me watching and the show has improved around them.

I agree. I thought it would meander through season 1 but it's actually got a pretty tight storyline. Loved the ending and the pairings (and break ups).

Generally, a really good show. With 4 more, still plenty of surprises to come

Thanks. Good news. But I still don't know what they mean (I know 12 million is great for the UK, but here not so much). I recall Smallville regularly used to get viewing figures of about 1 million and they dragged that out 10 seasons.

So are these positive?

I've heard rumours that it's looking good for a second series but it's too early to tell.

http://www.cancelledscifi.com/sci-fi...shadowhunters/

A rumour of rumours is the best I can do!!!!!

I hope it is renewed as it sounds like they have lots of plans

http://seriable.com/shadowhunters-se...lans-revealed/

And it seems like fans have already started a petition for a second series too, even before any decision has been reached

I haven't watched this since episode 3 because I thought it paled in comparison to the books. Does it get better? There were some changes that I spotted early on that I didn't really see the point in.

These are very good for FreeForm yes.

Left to right the figures are 18-49 demo (the KEY figure for advertisers), total number of viewers and then the rise in each category from the previous week.

So it's back up to 0.43 in the demo, had a live (as opposed to +1 and DVR ratings where people record and watch later which it also does well in) viewing figure of 0.952 so nearly back up to the 1m figure.

Plus there is no indication of the viewing figures via Netflix which I suspect will also be pretty steady and will, hopefully, mean it gets a second season because of the worldwide Netflix deal.

The show's slowly building back up to its pilot episode levels in terms of demo and viewer figures.
FreeForm's flagship Pretty Little Liars, in its Sixth Season, only gets around 1.2m viewers and has already been renewed for its Seventh.

I haven't watched this since episode 3 because I thought it paled in comparison to the books. Does it get better? There were some changes that I spotted early on that I didn't really see the point in.
Massively improves from Episode 5, has some great moments in Episode 6, finds its feet in Episodes 7 and 8 and nails it completely in Episode 9.
For me, all the book changes make absolute sense and work in driving the story narrative away from the clunky excessive exposition in the books themselves.

Netflix saved Once Upon a Time. BUT it was trending continuously, which I don't see with Shadowhunters. Mainly 'cos it's in my watch list so I don't know...

Hopefully Netflix alone will save it!

The cast usually live Tweet when the show airs in the US so there's normally massive buzz on social media.

Woot and also yay!

https://www.shadowhunterstv.com/arti...-second-season

Some seriously good social media engagement:

Shadowhunters is also a social media powerhouse with the series being, season–to-date, the #4 most engaging scripted series overall across all TV with over 17.7 million engagements, well ahead of established series such as Arrow (5.4 million), The Flash (6.9 million), Vampire Diaries (3.9 million) and The Originals (2.6 million).

Likewise, the series outperforms newer Fantasy series including Supergirl (2.8 million), Legends of Tomorrow (4.5 million) and The Shannara Chronicles (3.8 million). Since the launch, Shadowhunters has amassed over 7.5 million long-form views, making it the network’s #2 series, behind only Pretty Little Liars.

A second series? Well that's good, I am hoping they at least get to make a series for each book but I was doubtful it would get renewed.

The social media buzz around it has been insane and that, coupled with the overseas Netflix deal, should hopefully keep it going for a while.

I know, I am far more excited about it than a 46-year-old mother of an eight-year-old should be really

The last time I was this invested in a show/cast was Merlin

Great piece in Empire about the show. Now it's got a second season hopefully some of the bigger review sites will pick it up again as most of them dropped it after one bloody episode.

And there's this brilliant video where the cast themselves found out before the big live Facebook chat.

You're telling ME. I'm the same... And I honestly can't tell you why I like it so much (and not it's NOT because I'm THAT shallow and they're all so pretty (not sure if I mentioned that in this thread at all)

1.10 was really good. Probably my favourite episode so far.

It was really funny - I kinda liked that cutesy world far more than our own!

Although Jace was a complete pussy
