Can't wait till he get voted out. He thought he was a shoe in to win this.

He was just using that, not watched it enough to guess the real reason, but his delivery of the nomination suggested he was uncomfortable with which makes me think his reasons untrue x

Who does this guy think he is? First Tiff gets a psychological strip down, and then Darren.

It's nothing to do with 'smoking' though , the point is that he has an addictive personality and if he can fall back into smoking he could quite easily fall back into drinking ...

Have you not heard he's appointed himself house counselor?
He acts like he is superior and knows all with the way he talks to Darren it doesn't sound like he's his mate.

What a disgusting thing to do to someone who thought he was a friend. Of course Darren is hurt by that. John is being a controlling prat, it's none of his business. I've gone completely off him for that.

I think he was trying to justify his nomination...

But he was only smoking, it's not like he was mainlining heroin into his veins. John must think he's Darren's dad or something.

He is so sure of himself, and so aware of Darren's weak personality, that he had the nerve to nominate him to his face. No wonder Darren was gobsmacked and hurt. John is a ruthless manipulating crafty piece of work.

I get this, but (and as Darren quite rightly pointed out) if John did have concerns, why did he not just take Darren to one side and have a quiet word with him to express his fears and offer support should Darren need it ... instead of using it as a reason to nominate him?

Smoking leads to drinking leads to cannabis leads to coke leads to heroin, gateway drugs what a load of rubbish.

Smoking does not lead to drinking, it's a myth

Agreed! Notice how John gets so defensive! I don't believe that he nominated him for the reasons he gave. I reckon he just wanted to see who the competition is.

This wasn't about smoking. His reason for nominating was deliberately vague. It was Darren who had to stop him and tell everyone ( including viewers) that it was about smoking and nothing else. This is the first episode I have watched and I can see John's game. He doesn't want the public to forget about Darren's past. Does he think Darren is a threat to him winning? Despicable!

It's about being an addictive personality and coping mechanisms.

I know smoking doesn't lead directly to drinking and drugs but I also know about using substances as a crutch. He will be hating himself for relapsing.

I'm really starting to think that John Partridge has an over inflated sense of his own importance.

A shame as I liked him when he went into the house.

Anyone would think Darren was a grown man!
