I didn't know John was a carer for his mum

I read earlier that John P left EE and couldn't commit to returning full-time because his poor mum has developed Alzheimer's and John has become her sole carer.
I know John is in a civil partnership, or at least has a long-term loving relationship with the man in his life but I didn't know he had THIS heartache in his life.
I know what it's like to be around a parent who has developed dementia/ alzheimers and it leaves you with such a sadness that you just can't shake no matter what your personality is to start with.
John will be feeling emotional under the surface (he is after all a loving son going by the fact he's stood by his ill mother) regardless of the game he may / may not be playing in the CBB house.
If John is doing certain things (like nominating Darren - which is not THAT bad for godsake, yeah they are friends on there but FGS maybe John just wants a chance to win and Darren is publically, celebrity-wise the closest persona to him) then maybe it's to try secure a nice payment from CH.5 and any offers that come with it to secure a better environment for him and his mum/
Whatever you all may say about him, I think he's an ordinary bloke who - like the rest of us- would like to win and secure financial happiness.

EDIT:
Everyone going on about John nominating Darren.
To me John is one of the bravest and most up-front housemates I'vr ever seen in there. When others backstab their friends in there it's usually in the diary room with nominations. It happens so much. John could be talking to Darren being all matey and sllagging him off in the DR but he doesn't .He actually has the balls to remove competition in the house. I DO believe John really does like Darren, I think they are very alike. Darren is quite an insincere bloke underneath. He is full of himself but keeps it in check and acts humble and an "everyman"
The thing John hasn't done (and I'm not sure he is allowed to or it would make it any different is to say "Darren I'm nominating you because we are alike and only one of us can win this mate" I dont think theres any malice in it at all. Its just like two footballers greeting each other on opposing teams, bring mates, but wanting to win.

It is worth pointing out that there is no financial reward for winning celebrity big brother. First or last out, he will receive his agreed fee. The only thing you get for winning is the dubious honour of being comparable with Jim Davidson or that geordie lass who pissed the bed.

Only one being insincere is John.

Very true, the winners tend to be very disappointing and being associated with them is hardly a compliment.

John's mum's in a nursing home OP and he'll get his fee anyway, win or not.

Sorry, but I don't agree that nominating Darren was "not that bad". The fact that he nominated him isn't so much the problem, but the reason he gave was - to suggest that Darren is slipping back into old habits is unfair and could be quite damaging. Don't forget, Darren had to stop him mid-noms and point out that it was cigarettes that he was talking about. This has probably worried Darrens family. And it cleverly reminds the viewing public about Darrens past.
I would have had more respect for him if he'd just said he was nominating him to get rid of the competition.

He's about to go on a 6 month tour of Chicago The Musical where he'll be on stage 6 nights a week so he can't be his mums sole carer.

It's hard to believe that John could really be caring for his ill mother after reading the comments here from the experts over the last few days. Surely he's a devious, evil sociopath incapable of any kind of human empathy or decency? It must be some kind of clever con from The Partridge.

Remember, this is the monster who said the sweet, lovely, never-dun-nuffin-to-no-one Tiffany had to leave.

As for his nom of Darren, what a classic mistake. Nomming your mate "for his own good" is always going to blow up in your face. He's lucky that Darren is a grown up who once past the hurt and disappointment gave him the benefit of the doubt. I hope for both of them that's still the case, anyway.

Exactly, so if he stayed on EE at least he could have got home at night but he will be away for months, hardly a sole carer.

No, he isn't. John said that they had looked after her as a family but couldn't any longer, so she sold her house and went into a care home.

Brilliant post. This John character truly is evil judging by the posts of the last few days. How has he avoided prison all these years?

You missed the point. These anti John threads and posts have gone way OTT, anyone who hadn't watched the show would indeed think he was evil.

he should ask a full time carer when and if they get any time off and can they go into BB and go on tour with a show... I know what their answer would be and Id be angry if I was one... a difficult job that takes up their lives. behave john...

I'm surprised you didn't know his mum had Alzheimer's, OP. Every time I see him on TV he mentions it & the struggles he has caring for her.
While I sympathize with anyone having to care for someone with this cruel disease. In comparison to other carers, JP is in quite a fortunate position regarding the financial burden it can bring.
Not many people can do a month's work & earn thousands to help with the costs. IIRC, he did another show & the money he earned from that also went towards help.

That's what I was thinking. If he's her sole carer, who's looking after her while he's in the house?

I didn't say they said he was evil, I said judging by all the posts that would be a reasonable conclusion to make. He's getting an awful lot of hate.

Not just to Darren!

It's been a long time since I've disliked a HM as much as JP, I wasn't keen before he went in & my opinion stayed the same from the get go, not just in the last couple of days.

If anyone ever needed a reality check, it's that patronising, smug twit.

You did. The point was he's getting a disproportionate amount of criticism compared to what's he's actually done. Not wether or not you can be jailed for being sly a sly creep.
