Adele will clean up

I am a huge Amy fan one of her biggest, but the woman is dead, she hasn't released anything new since 06. Oh and she is dead, a docu film on her life doesn't deserve a nod. Utterly bizarre decision on that one. Also if you are going to nominate Florence + The Machine in female solo category, nominate the lead singer of the band Florence Welch and then add the group to best group. F+TM is a band .

Adele will clean up, would love How Big to win album but she didn't sell 15m ww did she .

Bieber is a shoe in for IM.

Bjork might get IF.

My understanding of Florence & The Machine is that she's a solo act and the "& The Machine" part refers to her band, backing singers, performance team, etc. She is classed as a solo act but presents herself and her band as a whole package.

The awards this year are a complete mess!
Florence and the Machine are a BAND they should not be in the solo female artist category. Amy Winehouse shouldn't be there either, as much as I love her, artists who have worked so hard all year are much more worthy than someone who has been dead 5 years.
Catfish and the Bottlemen in best breakthrough is a joke, they released their album in 2014!
Eagles of death metal being nominated for best international group... just because of the Paris terror attacks.
And the best music video and best single categories are pretty much identical, the best music video needs to either focus on artistic merit, rather than commercial success or they should just get rid of it, because otherwise it's just best single award part 2.

One Direction for Best Video? It is voted for by the public still I presume?

Florence + the Machine are always classified as a solo artist and even WON Best Female at the Brits before, so to change that now would be ridiculous.

I agree with your other points though - I did a double take at the Amy Winehouse nomination, that is beyond ridiculous. They could have nominated Ellie Goulding or one of several more 'alternative' female artists who would have benefitted from the publicity greatly instead.

I was going to say the exact same thing as you about Eagles of Death Metal... what happened in Paris was truly awful, but should in no way translate to a Brit nomination. Also, what have U2 released recently?

Terrible nominations - I'm disapointed Muse have been overlooked for what is, IMO, one of their best albums yet. Also surprised that Mumford & Sons were snubbed after being the darlings of the Brits for a few years, I guess the big cheeses of the industry preferred them with banjos!

I'm guessing that Father John Misty has no chance in his category!

Florence and the Machine haven't actually won best solo female before but yes they have been nominated 2 times already so to change it now would be strange I suppose.
It's the same with the NME awards as well, they're constantly nominated for best solo act and have won it twice and both times in her acceptance speech Florence has questioned why she's even in the category, I find it very annoying.

OK, I'll do mine - predictions of who I THINK will win in bold, and who I WANT to win in italics. In the many cases where someone who should be eligible that I like vastly better than any of the nominated artists, I've put them at the bottom just for fun!

Some ridiculous nominations as usual. I only watch the Brits for the live performances and care very little who wins to be honest.

As always there's artists you've never heard of in place of some acts who have had a great year.

Some strange nominations. Why are Little Mix up for single and video but not Group? And no Churches in group either? Also no Foo Fighters in international group?

Also No Charli XCX or Foxes in British female? The inclusion of Any Winehouse is weird.

Would like to see Jess Glynne and Years and Years win an award also Calvin Harris deserves recognition

But I think it will be predictable with Adele coldplay and James bay winning

Iron Maiden ignored yet again

Haha at Coldplay and James Bay up for best album. Both have been absolutely panned!

You'd think that with Little Mixm's Black Magic outselling any One Direction song and their album outselling One Direction's in 2015 it would have been them in best group but I presume The Brits were just trying to secure an appearance again.

Still at least the Global Success award has gone which saw One Direction win despite Adele massively outperforming them in 2012

The only categories Little Mix are included in are based on sales/video views, rather than what music critics chose, which probably explains their absence in the British Group category.

Foo Fighters won International Group last year and haven't released an album since then so aren't eligible.

Yet again full of pop and old favourites. The alternative scene is ignored.

I'm pretty sure Bring Me The Horizon is a better band than One Direction.

I'm pretty sure Fall Out Boy are putting out better music than U2 these days.

I'm pretty sure Florence + The Machine is a band. The Machine part referring to the Keyboardist.

Eagles of Death Metal? Sympathy vote?

Could Foals pull off a Royal Blood and win it? Who cares really. These awards are boring and are not an indicator of what good music is.
