She should not have been shouting at Tiffany in the first place. So that is no excuse at all. Her argument was with john and trying to out him to Tiffany and when Tiffany didn't bite at jher news of how wonderful she was in not sending Tiffany to coventry when John wanted her to she went cuckoo.

Tiffany had every right to launch herself at the aggressive attitude and confrontation just because she chose to laugh off what was being said. Meghan had no right to repeat what John had said at all to Tiffany. Where did that come from?

The DR is relevant. She was out of control even when the so called discussion had ended she was still ranting and out of control. No doubt it would have mattered if it was Tiffany .

It's not at all clear whether somebody is clearly not racist or not unlike they demonstrate their attitude towards race. Saying I'm not racist but doesn't cut it.

When it is directly in front of someones face and they refuse to acknowledge it there is likely to be some reason. Subscribing it to Innocence or ignorance is actually giving them the benefit of the doubt. So if the person is neither, then why else would they not want to recognise racism in action?

If anyone views the disparity with which they are both being treated and doesn't acknowledge it then they probably have some latent biases and if they say they don't notice race they are - at best - kidding themselves.

Indeed.

It's actually quite refreshing that racism has been mentioned in this thread without the usual instant flurry of posts utterly dismissing the possibility.

Exactly! Tiffany is being scapegoated.

Yes, that's why a few of them said they didn't feel save. Kristina and the lot claiming they can't share the house with "that one" I must have missed that camouflaged axed Tiffany was brandishing AT ALL times. *rolling eyes*

Anybody who thinks that it has to do with Tiff being black is deluded. Why see racism? I thought the word had been abolished anyway? so archaic, everybody knows that is not a problem anymore. We shouldn't see colour. Example, some hardly notice the white washing in Hollywood. Which is great because it means they don't see colour!

Vulnerable my foot. It's like saying a rabid rotweiller is vunerable. How anyone fell for that disgusting act from that snarly woman is beyond me. She was definately vunerable when saying Winston should suck her big one and the look on her face was terrifyingly vicious, How many old biddies use that type of language?

you don't ever notice what colour someone is? i do, it's actually the first thing i notice about them. saying you don't see race is very offensive in itself even though you are trying not to be. this article explains it well. http://www.theguardian.com/commentis...sm-not-helping

Yes . I notice colour the same way I notice long hair or brown eyes or blonde or brown hair or baldness , or like I would notice a disability or a special need if its part of someone . I notice things they just dont affect my thinking .
Which is probably why when others jump to conclusions that someones reason to hate was due to racism it not the first thing on my mind . When some of the housemates said Tiffany needs to leave it wasnt my first thought that it was because she is black . It didnt dawn on me probably because it wouldnt have even been a thought in my head . I tend to first judge people on behaviour and character . Maybe I am wrong to presume others do sometimes too and theirin lies the problem . I have no idea why some of the housemates felt how they did , but my first thought wasnt because they are racist .

A few posters have understood and come to my suppport and I appreciate that Thank you . I dont know how to multi quote to reply
And now I am leaving the thread as people are choosing to call judge me wrongly
That may very well due to my poor communication or misunderstanding so I bow out now .

Thankfully the majority of us live and let live and don't over-analyse every conversation and situation we have on a daily basis on the off-chance that something could possibly be deemed as racist to someone - strange as it may seem, the majority of us do not intentionally set out to hurt people or cause offence and can quite easily manage to do this whoever we meet.

As Ducky pointed out, of course we notice a difference in people in that some are black, some are white, some have brown hair, some have blonde hair, etc. but it doesn't mean you treat them any differently.

The bias seems to be coming more from you by inferring that everyone is racist rather than anyone else on this forum.

If people go around gleefully seeking out 'racism' then they are bound to find it.

It isn't out and out racism is it? So why are people on here accusing the others of being racist practically?

The only point I was making was that racism exists to a poster that seemed to be almost suggesting it didn't because they weren't racist. As much as personal experience is welcome and interesting I'm sorry to say I just think this attitude would sound smug and uncaring to someone who is actually a victim of it and as for the wider debate of racism it's just just really unhelpful.

The thread is about why the HMs didn't want Megan out, and the post I was answering was about how "threatening" she was. You haven't given any reason why what she did in the DR affected how threatening she seemed to the HMs, so why is it relevant?
