BT will now look to close the deal on January 29. After the merger, EE will become a separate line of business within BT

I wonder if this might prompt Vodafone and Virgin Media/Liberty to restart the merger talks that they were having last year?

Virgin mobile using the Vodafone network would be a complete disaster. Would you even get a signal using a virgin sim on the vodafone network?

I wonder if EE will change in any way? They have a shockingly bad custom service

So do BT. It's a shuddering thought for any EE customer who have had horrible customer service. Think it might be about to get worse

No, don't think I've had any trouble in the 20 years I've been with Orange and now EE.
Always helpful. Always sort it out.
I think half the time it's the attitude of the customer calling up or perhaps expecting the impossible, I don't know. Some people are just mad though.
Was sending a parcel in the post office yesterday and the Woman next to me was too.
The assistant asked her what was in it (as they do when it's airmail, obviously) and she wanted to know why they wanted to know and started questioning the poor guy.
He had to keep insisting that she tell him and the silly woman kept arguing!!
Eventually she went "...Huh..... it's socks"!
The poor woman serving me could hardly keep a straight face. Hahaha
I mean WTF is wrong with people??

Also can't ever say i've had bad customer service. Something i cannot say for BT unless you get past the first line of 'defence'

Course I'm with EE Business now so CS is in Scotland.
So obviously it's going to be good isn't it!

What about all the spectrum the combined entity will have 2 x 50MHz of 2.6GHz. They only utilised 2 X 20MHz at the moment I think for LTE-A. I think something really went wrong in the CMA's people how they think that they shouldn't give that to O2 or Three. Or probably they thought they shouldn't do to that as they are already wanting to combine.
Maybe the extra spectrum is important for emergency services if every police officer will have a live stream body camera.

At first before I don't deny that EE/T-Mobile's customer service was excellent until the phone calls started about 4G in my area (which I couldn't get yet they insisted I could) and of course the lies I got told about free stuff (which wasn't as free as was made out to be) that's my own personal experience with EE (Don't get me started about BT) lol. Not saying that customer service has been bad for everyone though just some inking I have with the 2 companies now together more or less

I'd hope that one of the short-term outcomes from the merger is that BT could now look at using the 4G infrastructure to look at using it for customers who are in EE's 4G coverage but are unable to currently get Infinity. But if they do I'd rather that they do installations properly with a fixed outdoor aerial to a router, preferably MIMO to do it justice.

That was EE themselves. No outbound team. It was a few years ago and eventually did end up leaving them in the end but since all of that until I left nothing was the same I felt. Before all of that they we're great don't get me wrong

EE is the name of the whole network, not just the name for the customer services department, they definitely do have sale teams who aren't customer services agents, they employ both inbound and outbound sales staff.

Maybe it was their sales team I will probably never know it was the persistance (didn't have a phone that could block numbers) they we're so convincing to me on the phone though I couldn't say no but we live and learn from our mistakes

I've always had good customer service. Talked to some really helpful (English) help desk types.

Got a discount for our two phones in return for a twelve month contract renewals.

Currently on £15 a month each for Unlimited Calls, Unlimited Texts and 2G Data.
Better than in the shop.

Which suit us as middle aged couple.

Hi

Will BT Mobile contracts and EE contracts remain separate or with BT Mobile disappear?

Thanks

Separate they want to keep EE as a separate brand

EE customer service has been good for me .

My paragraph below in summary, is that BT's customer service was crap for us, and that's why we left them for broadband - I sort of rambled on a bit, lol.

BT's customer service was basically them lying, denying there was a problem, basically putting the blame on us when their shitty service kept cutting out - apparently having lots of devices connected to the router caused it to randomly completely disconnect from broadband at random times of the day, every day... yeah. They basically didn't/wouldn't solve the problem. They were great until we had a problem. So eventually we switched to Virgin Media - we would've done it way before, but their postcode checker didn't have our address, and basically cause we were newer houses we hadn't been cabled. But we were very close (<10m) and they basically dug up a bit of the road and extended it to us. And now we've got 200Mb broadband with no disconnects - way better than the 25Mb BT gave us.

I hope BT can at least maintain EE's really good performance - EE did a lot of work for 4G coverage and it's really good now, so hopefully BT improve it even more!
