A great loss, not just to Doctor Who but to TV in general.

Writer of two of my DW top ten, Terror of the Zygons and The Seeds of Doom; creator of Bergerac; writer of all sorts of top-drawer TV of yesteryear: The Darling Buds of May, The Avengers, Adam Adamant Lives, etc etc etc ...

A great man.

RIP, RBS.

Now is the time to watch his work! Those two DW scripts are just so, so good.

That's a real shame. The Seeds of Doom was one of the most intense and exciting stories ever done for Doctor Who and Terror of the Zygons was great too. Two brilliant stories for the best season in all of Doctor Who, Robert did a fantastic job. R.I.P.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Bergerac only came about about because Trevor Eve didn't want to do a second series of Shoestring and RBS had to jiggle the scripts about a bit

That's a terrible shame. I only recently re-watched The Seeds of Doom for the third time, it's a truly brilliant story, one of my favouritres.

A great TV writer from an era when TV writers tended not to be famous. Terror of the Zygons a particular favorite of mine.

The Who stories were nothing special but Bergerac was fabulous.

I preferred Shoestring to Bergerac to be honest.

RIP. I love Terror...and Seeds...is great fun, especially Tony Beckly's performance. After the first 2 episodes, it's the most Avengers-y Who ever got; See Maneater of Surrey Green!

Liked Bergerac, LOVED Shoestring. What a talented man.

He also produced The Darling Buds of May and the very first series of Lovejoy.

Lovejoy, especially the 1st series, is a particular favourite of mine.
