I would say in respect to how he's been towards Tiffany.
He acted very differently when in front of all the others compared to how he was with Tiffany.
However, if we say that we (is that a royal 'we'?) need to get rid of a certain group who are smug, has anybody spotted the inherent problem we have here?
If 'we' get rid of John and the people close to him to wipe the smug smile off his face, then we are left with Gemma and her cronies.
Then it's Gemma and co who become the 'smug gang'.
Then what?
It's a never ending circle which has no satisfactory end to it.
What if you don't like John or Gemma? I know that getting rid of either group who are either on John's side or Gemma's side won't do anything for me because I'll be disappointed with who I've got left anyway.
To me they're like two sides of the same coin and I could go back and forth wanting to get rid of either 'smug group'. As soon as you achieve your objective the group you've just got rid of is replaced by a smug group.
There's no way around it if you dislike most of the house.
Get rid of John AND Gemma and their followers and you are then left with the 'smug young group' who want to exclude all the others because they're too cool for school.
No way can you win when faced with all these different scenarios of replacing one group with another.
