Oh and of course Gleb is such an expert on SCD after being in it for such a long time ..... oh no my mistake - it has only been the one series!

Ola Jordan, Aliona Vilani and Kristina Rihanoff all quit last month and, asked if their exits would be a blow to Strictly, Gleb, 32, said: “Definitely. He just said (when asked "They are three of the girls who had the most training and they have been very, very good. “All three girls have amazing experience at teaching someone who has never danced before and making the most out of it.” ) that losing these three was a blow. I like that he acknowledges their training and experience, though. Hopefully their replacements will be equally well trained.... |

I'm sure it will be fine. Big name dancers have left before such as Camilla, Erin, VIncent ad Flavia have left before ad they've found good replacements

Besides, I thought he wanted at least one of them to quit so his wife could join the cast

They didn't all leave in the same year though and I don't think their replacements were as good as the ones who left. This year it's a bigger gap to fill. We will see what happens next series.
The show will survive. And who knows, their replacements might be as good if not better (and as always, offer an opportunity to bring in mew blood and new ideas, for better or for worse). |

Except he didn't really say that, did he?! 😏
In terms of what he actually said I'm more interested in the part about his wife as it seems to be another indication he'll be back this year.

It's only series 5 that had no pro dancer changes at all - the same cast list as series 4. Every other series has had at least one change and a couple of times as many as 5.

Indeed. Ian, Matt, Darren and Lilia all went after series 7 and yet you'd be hard pushed to find many people who didn't think series 8 was far better.

In my opinion he was actually being complimentary to ones who left rather being "worried for the future of the show". No pro is bigger than the show. Equally important and long serving pros left before and the show only went from strength to strength. |

For my own part, whilst I like Janette and Karen and think they bring good things to the show, I hope we don't see too many more new pros who are not really well trained in proper technique. |

Aliona had won the show twice and had done her bit. She would almost certainly have got a duffer next time. Kristina and Ola had been on the show for a long time and were due to be replaced.
There are plenty of other fish in the sea, Joanne Clifton, Emma Slater, Mrs. Trent, Mrs Gleb, Katya Virshilas for example. The show's lost people before and keeps going well - don't see a problem. |

Change is inevitable, it won't do the show any harm same as in the past - the new dancers will be loved by some and disliked by others, but that's always the way. Most members of the public couldn't name more than about 2 of the pros (no prizes for guessing which ones) so any change won't affect the ratings in the slightest. |

I've been baffled for a while, wondering why they propped Kellie Bright so much - even giving her that gorgeous Fred and Ginger song that I think was wasted on her because elegance was just not a card in her hand (though her treatment is a bit of a mixed bag because they generally dressed her horribly...)
But anyway, if it's true that they were propping her, I wondered why. Now I'm thinking that they might be trying to turn Kevin into a linchpin pro (like Brendan and Anton are considered) because surely one of those older guys is gonna have to leave, probably Anton who'll be 50, if not older, this year. Just from their past behaviour, it looks like they think they need "continuity" male pros, but it's not as important on the female side. Ola and Kristina both have been their "sex kitten" types, so I'd expect they'd be looking for someone like that to replace them... Oh well, so much for my trying to analyse the situation, but I'm sure they have strategies when it comes to casting, pairing, propping or whatever - and Kellie, there at the end, seemed to be a blatant case or over-complimenting and scoring - there has to have been a reason.

Doesn't make them right, but doesn't make them wrong either, it's all subjective. Just as your opinion of Kellie is - it's certainly not a fact that she was over-complimented and overmarked, that's just what you think. For example, I think she was a class above the others in the final and based on that night should have won. I'm neither right nor wrong, that's just my opinion. I don't think they "need" continuity male pros either - it's just simply that Anton and Brendan have never quit! Whereas over the years a lot of female pros have. Kristina had been there since series 6, that was continuity. And there's no evidence whatsoever that they'll replace her and Ola with women who are similar to them. Certainly on past form pros have been replaced by completely different dancers (for example Flavia was replaced by Janette / Anya; Katya was replaced by Karen etc.). |

Kevin does seem to act like the spokesperson for the pros. I remember him tweeting the newbies at the end of the series congratulating them on their first season, which was nice of him but really if that was "official" it should of come from either Anton or Brendan.
They do need the regular, familiar faces now the older long term pros are starting to fritter away though. I still say Kevin is very popular with viewers away from this forum, just from speaking to people I know after Anton and Brendan he is the most recognisable dancer on the show (sorry Clifton haters). |

No, there doesn't - it happens almost every year (Lisa Snowdon, Pamela Stephenson, the list goes on). And it's absolutely nothing to do with the pro.
What it is to do with is a little thing called opinion - which all the judges have, and air frequently. Doesn't make them right, but doesn't make them wrong either, it's all subjective. Certainly on past form pros have been replaced by completely different dancers (for example Flavia was replaced by Janette / Anya; Katya was replaced by Karen etc.). I don't actually agree that she was 'a class above all the others' in the final, purely because I think her dances weren't as diverse as particularly Georgia's & I do think the judges got a bit caught up in the enthusiasm with that Tango, four 10's was excessive IMO, but she fully & absolutely deserved to be there as the most consistently (again IMO) good performer throughout the series who never actually did a duff dance & who peaked at exactly the right time!! I'm sorry but that Fred& Ginger AS routine was one of the dances of the series & far more deserving of the clean sweep than the final Tango ( again IMO!!) I'm speaking as a massive Georgia fan by the way who absolutely believes the right 3 dancers reached the final & were all three winners!! |

And how, exactly, does Kevin congratulating the new pros somehow mean he's spoken for the whole pro group? ![]() Quote:

Or rather, Sun uses two Gleb quotes to make a story ...
About his wife: I'm sure she's wonderful, but I hope if Gleb returns she isn't hired. It's annoying enough with the other two couples who seem to almost always be paired up in the pro dances. I suppose a lot of people like the shipper aspect of it, but I'd prefer not to be thinking about real-life pairings during those dances. |
