Or rather, Sun uses two Gleb quotes to make a story ...

About his wife: I'm sure she's wonderful, but I hope if Gleb returns she isn't hired. It's annoying enough with the other two couples who seem to almost always be paired up in the pro dances. I suppose a lot of people like the shipper aspect of it, but I'd prefer not to be thinking about real-life pairings during those dances.

Such a non-article. All he's said is that their departure will be a loss, probably in response to a direct question. And (in the case of Aliona, certainly) I agree.

There's a difference between saying that certain dancers will be missed and that the show can't survive without them.

But that's The Sun for you!

IMO if they hire Mrs Gleb (and I'm not necessarily sold, because if she's of the same school of choreography as he is...one of them is probably enough) they absolutely should be together in the group dances. They should be hiring and using more pairs who have danced together regularly, and especially competitively, not fewer. Rare is the thrown-together partnership on the show who have anywhere near the chemistry of the pairings who have worked together for years (and I mean danced, not just boinked - Janette and Aljaz don't work at all) - I think it's only really Ian/Natalie and maybe Aliona/Matthew. Gleb and Natalie looked ridiculous together, and whilst it was funny as a one-off, I'd much rather see him paired with someone who he fits with.

Aliona had won the show twice and had done her bit. She would almost certainly have got a duffer next time. Kristina and Ola had been on the show for a long time and were due to be replaced.

There are plenty of other fish in the sea, Joanne Clifton, Emma Slater, Mrs. Trent, Mrs Gleb, Katya Virshilas for example. The show's lost people before and keeps going well - don't see a problem.
Aliona was going to do her last Strictly this year anyway, regardless of whether had won or gone out first. She new before 2015 series started that she had done enough years and needed to move onto family and other dance ventures.

Katya Virshilas is pregnant, so she's not going to be returning in the near future. Plus she wasn't asked back previously and was replaced, so pride may stop her from returning even if asked back again.

Trent himself was just a replacement, and even if the show wanted him back he was (allegedly) only going to return if his wife was asked, but she wasn't wanted, so he (and her) became non choices.

Emma Slater had her opportunity to join Strictly and turned it down, hence why we got Anya as her quick series quick replacement, and for just one series. I suppose Strictly could ask Emma again, but I doubt she'd come if she has better US options, which atm she seems to.

Joanne would have had a 2015 celeb partner if he hadn't pulled out, so she is prob the more likely of those names that we'll see next series if still in favour with the Strictly Gods. Also Oti could get another year, given that Anthony was never going to be a contender for her.

That would then just leave one spot for a new female, providing no other females decided to move onto pastures new or one (some don't get asked back).

Mrs Gleb is a possibility, unless the BBC are really looking to get in someone of much younger blood to transition in the new generation of Strictly that will happen at some point, not just on the girls side, but the men too. Can't see Brendan wanting to be on Strictly for another 3 or four years, I think he's desperate for his own show to be such a success that he, like happened with Flavia and Vincent, can drop Strictly completely to concentrate on it totally. Natalie is now the longest serving girl (with Ola, Kristina and Aliona gone), but she has her dance excercise thingy which seems to be doing well, so one day she'll want to break from Strcitly (if isn't pushed beforehand).

There are, as you say, fish in the sea, and there will be competing pros recently out of the profession that I'm sure would jump at the opportunity to move into TV and other stage shows.

I agree. I got a bit fed up of so many of the pro dances revolving around some twee love story involving Karen and Kevin. I agree with Monkseal about pairs who have danced together for years, but its better IMO if they are not a 'real life' couple as well. I got the impression from the DM interview with Gleb and his wife that she is pretty pushy and I can imagine them wanting to be the next Strictly 'power couple' so I really hope they don't hire her.

I meant Aljaz/Janette and Kevin/Karen, who, as far as I know, didn't originally dance together professionally, though I think they might now--but more a result of their being a couple and a Strictly "brand." In my opinion neither are good dance pairings.

I think Gleb and Elena have been dancing together professionally for a long time, but the few dances of theirs I've seen made me think they aren't the best pairing either--she seems to overpower him.

I think he should be. looking at his reputation he hasn't stayed anymore than 1 series on other versions on the show and he didn't strike me as owt special on SCD so why should that be different and keep him on any longer than what he did in the US or Australia?

Kevin does seem to act like the spokesperson for the pros. I remember him tweeting the newbies at the end of the series congratulating them on their first season, which was nice of him but really if that was "official" it should of come from either Anton or Brendan.

They do need the regular, familiar faces now the older long term pros are starting to fritter away though. I still say Kevin is very popular with viewers away from this forum, just from speaking to people I know after Anton and Brendan he is the most recognisable dancer on the show (sorry Clifton haters).
Kevin's twitter account clearly says Kevin Clifton and there's no way to mistake that as anything even remotely near to 'Official Strictly'. Him tweeting to the new pros was just a nice gesture and all of them took it as such. Is Kevin not allowed to tweet anything Strictly (a show he works for as a pro dancer) related from his personal account now? Is this restriction to only Kevin or the other Cliftons too, or all of the pros?

Gleb has admitted that he is fearing for the future of the show after the departures of Aliona, Ola and Kristina.

I have a feeling that many share Gleb's fears.

The show has survived this number of pros leaving before can't see why it shouldn't be able to cope this time

It'll probably go on for decades who knows but I think well my favourite pro leaving will dent the show oh yes they'll get in a field of replacements but I personally will not be attached or in awe of anyone's dancing ever! Yeah I probably sound dramatic but it's true

Not at all I don't think it would be the same if my favorite pro left. My fave female pro has gone this year and I do sit there wondering if my fave male pro will be out this year. If both go I will be the same as you so if you sound dramatic then I must be as well

Time Gleb stopped dropping female dancers - that really is one way to decimate the show.

He didn't drop Anita, or Aliona, or Oti and he hasn't dropped Joanne Clifton yet.

I wonder how many times the males drops the females and we don't hear about it?

I would guess that the males are dropping one more often than you might think.
