Peggy's very final scene should be...
Dizagaox

... her ghost sat with Pat's on Arthur's bench in the Square, necking down some vodka shots and bantering about nonsense.

It would be a bittersweet end to not just Peggy's character, but also provide some additional closure on Pat as well.

I know they don't really do ghosts on EastEnders, but they could make an exception here I think!

What do you guys think?

One final scene with Pat would be amazing. Look at Jack and Vera's final scene in Corrie. Eastenders could easily do something similar.

Pat has to come back for this. They could get away with a post credits scene of the pair of them as "ghosts". Leave it up to the imagination if it actually happened or not.

Or a death bed scene where Pat turns up?

They could play it as a hallucination as she's talking to Pat but no one else in the room can see her? After all, you do hear about this happening when someone dies so it isn't that much of a stretch?

Still not sure if EE is the kind of soap to do this kind of thing though. It would work on Corrie and ED (and HO I assume) but EE? Not sure.

Well they did have Stacey seeing Charlie driving her cab after he died so its not like EE haven't done it before

It would be so fitting for Pat to return as a ghost/spirit. A dream sequence in The Vic or something would be so moving.

One last scene for Babs and Pam.

Pats not dead, she's living somewhere exotic with Burnside. He spends his time making his wooden horses while Pat lounges in the sun, drinking sangria. Pats old punter Les helped her fake her death so she could get away from Derek Branning.

I'm hoping she turns up at Peggy's funeral, dressed in black and wearing a veil before exposing herself to the congregation.

Brilliant idea. 10/10. I think they should do ghosts more often for eg. Angie appearing in Kathy's dream.

I suggested if the cancer gets really bad and she has chemo, hilusinations can be a side effect, I'd Love scenes with pat, possibly on holiday...

I wouldn't want that to be the final scene, her final scene should be her on her deathbed with Phil and Grant, a Pat appearance though would be brilliant, wouldn't have to be much but a nice touch, perhaps it can be at the beginning of her last ep.

A pity Mike Read has died would have been good for both Pat and Frank to appear and tell Peggy we waiting for you there's a G and T on the bar

Hope on her deathbed she tells the truth about the so called feud between Hubbards and Mitchells

I'm telling yas, a final scene with them disappearing into the distance in a ghostly ice cream van, off their tits on booze with "YOU BITCH" "YOU CAAH" as they vanish into Peggy's Theme.

I think it would work if done correctly. You say that it works on Corrie and ED because we've seen it happen. However they both had to take that chance in the first place.

I thought this too, would have loved for frank to have 'turned up' with pat! Maybe they could have pat meet Peggy and tell her to get a move on as frank's waiting for them!

I'm sure they could superimpose some footage of Frank, or something. I mean, didn't Mike Reid die before Frank - i.e he didn't star in his own funeral?

Exactly. Leave the unbelievable stories to the others. EE needs more realism & not fantasy IMO. Eastenders needs to lead the way & not follow like sheep

Tonight was close. I posted something similar earlier. I wanted Peggy to go out into the square in the middle of the night.. sit herself on the bench and Pat appears. And they'd talk about the past.. the rows.. the good times.. and it would last the full episode.. and the end would see Pat fade away and Peggy fall asleep (which would be her death as she'd been taking pills during the scenes with Pat)... and Julia's theme kicked in at that point as the camera panned out past the Queen Vic.

Back when they killed off Pat I thought they should have had Pat and Peggy overseas sat in a peddle boat.. floating on the water.. talking about the good times and drinking. And they'd be seen floating into the sunset. That would have at least given them both an open ended departure from the show and a happy ending of sorts.

Sadly EE is far too depressing for that. But at least we got some Pat stuff which was better than nothing. Maybe they read your idea.
