1D Split all planned??

I cant help thinking that Zane's departure and then 1D's " Break" has all very carefully planned by SC and the 1D team. We all know that Robbie left TT and then returned and was huge and Geri left the Spice Girls and then returned for a huge reunion . I think when 1D signed with SC part of the plan all along was for one of the group to leave then the band split and then to reform with the full line up years later for a huge comeback.

What do you guys think?

I doubt it was all mapped out that far in advance, but there probably has been some sort of plan in place for a while and I suspect that they knew there would be a hiatus for quite a while, possibly before Zayn went... I think they've played a blinder really. The latest album has topped the chart and sold well, but not as well as their others and they're getting totally overshadowed by Justin Bieber right now. It seems the perfect time to go away - before their popularity drops too much, leaving some level of anticipation for when/if they return!

The rise of One Direction has without doubt been fascinating to see. Right up until the release of Drag Me Down which went on to become their most successful single in various countries where they hadn't really had a big hit prior to that.

Regardless of whether this was all mapped out or not, there's no denying how successful 1D have become.

Harry Styles wants a solo career. That is the most likely explanation.

Take That and The Spice girls set the DNA for all future boy/girl band and now I can say almost 100 percent that The whole one member leaves then split and full line up reunion would off be discussed with 1D at somepoint. And wanting to go Solo is almost a nailed on need if you are in a group leaving out of each other pockets for 5 plus years as well.

I am not a fan at all off 1d but certainly don't hate them and quite like some of there last singles . I take my hat off to them for living everyone's dream and making a fortune in the process.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if SYCO were thinking about the time when a member - it would end up being Zayn Malick and not Harry Styles as I predicted - would want to leave the band.

Still, with the band now on hiatus and with Zayn now on the verge of releasing new music; it will be very interesting to see if they is a successful reunion following in the footsteps like Take That and Spice Girls.

I don't think it was planned to be honest. I think that it simply came down to the Syco/Columbia/Modest Management contracts were all coming to an end and they wanted to go away and not be 1D anymore.

Zayn's departure IMO was an honest thing, he just didn't want to be there in what he felt a restrictive situation. You can see all the way through the 'Four' campaign he wasn't happy. In every performance, he looked like he wanted to be literally anywhere else other than on that stage. In practically every interview, he was quiet and reserved.

I feel a bit sorry for the guy because he's been hammered for saying he wasn't necessarily a fan of One Direction's music and that his input was ignored or challenged. Fast forward a few months and Liam releases a clip of a song that would never ever appear on a 1D album and he's praised for a mature sound.

There will be a reunion, I think it will be within the two year period they've stated unless somebody blows up solo. Zayn will likely reform with them at some point but I don't think Syco were thinking 10 years ahead to a big reunion.

Zayn is the only one who will have a career in music. I think Harry will head into movies and TV. Louis if Simon hasn't got bored of him by then might end up an X Factor judge if lucky enough. The other two will fade away.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, I think Liam could do quite well in music. I think Zayn, despite having the best vocal by a mile, will struggle. I hope that he does well though.

Niall will probably fade away, do a bit of songwriting or something like that. Louis is already involved in managing so will go that route and Harry will do something I'm not quite sure of because I really can't see him acting at all.
