Why are some of the pros beyond crticism on here, where as others are fair game?

Sometimes it is better to be disliked on this site as at least it means that the pro is memorable instead of forgettable. Aliona was not popular in her first series she is now but she still split opinions so what she still won twice not to mention 3 tours and numerous specials.”

Completely agree with all the points you've made about those pros and their first partnerships. As well as Joanne I had Oti particularly in mind. It seemed a shame she didn't really get the chance to show her teaching and choreographing ability as Anthony was injured. She's a fabulous dancer, hope she'll be back.

As a DM sidebar of shame reader I was thinking particularly of the 'spontaneous food fight' video he posted this week with unfortunate mayo still photos taken from it!

He did act unprofessionally on screen with Georgia when she had a partner sitting in the audience. Their private lives are their business but keep it off screen.

Neither Kristina or Pasha could be accused of acting unprofessionally on the show. And it was the following series of Strictly before Pasha and Rachel made their relationship public, if you want to keep things private it can be done however much attention is on you.

Joanne introduced her boyfriend with some nice photos of them together at an event. Rather different to the very intimate selfies Georgia posts of herself with Giovanni that make it on to online news sites and even if Giovanni doesn't post them on his own account they're out there and affect his public image.

Or maybe they make people realise that he and Georgia are living the life of a normal couple and having a lot of fun in the process! Actually that one selfie is the only picture we have seen of just the two of them together since the tour ended.

Anyway judging by the amount of work he has on at the moment it obviously hasn't affected Giovanni professionally one little bit!

I'm not sure it's normal - I don't know anyone over the age of 10 who has food fights, let alone posts it on social media

I think you must have had a very sheltered life if you have never known anyone have a food fight - they are very prevalent among the upper classes in ski lodges, restaurants and private dining clubs. 'Call me Dave' our very own PM was in the Bullingdon Club which specialises in trashing venues during outrageous food fights.
The rest of us have indulged in somewhat less destructive variations of the same game at some time or other surely - finding it hysterical until we have to clean up afterwards.
Quite a normal activity especially among young couples.
... obviously food, water and other play fights are great fun and are very energising, often a precursor to sexual activity as often demonstrated by actors in films, especially those that are X rated.

I don't understand how all of this has passed you by unnoticed and I am rather sad for you that you have not enjoyed a similar experience,

Oh, I obviously move in the wrong circles - unfortunately I don't have a ski lodge in which to get mayonnaise poured over my head. Please don't feel 'sad' for me though - I don't need food thrown at me as a precursor to anything, I can get my fun in other ways and it saves on the grocery bill.

Me and Mr Ochre obviously aren't upper class enough (he'd better not try it or he can spend the day scrubbing food out of the carpets).

Posting those kind of home videos when you have a high media profile is a bit 'TOWIE'. Maybe they spent so long making the scripted VTs on Strictly they don't know how to stop.

Hopefully GG don't follow the Jordans over the top Dubai pool PDA published in the Mail Online this morning. It really is a shame when that sort of media image overshadows their achievements as dancers and all the hard work they put in on Strictly over the years.

Criticism is inevitable if the pros seek that kind of celebrity though. I love Aljaz and Janette but cringed at that recent 'under the covers' photo shoot they did for one of the mags.

I suppose it's impressive that, even with the energising sexiness of having squeezy mayonnaise rubbed in your hair, they still retained the presence of mind to film it for Twitter.

Re James and Ola I thought it was quite sad seeing that story this morning - they have a real talent and it's such a shame they have to resort to that. I suppose they have to maintain the lifestyle they've become accustomed to somehow though. If they have to do it they could at least make it look a bit less staged .

They definitely need to work on the choreography (and leave out the 'weighing up the melons' chest grab).

There were far worse photo's of J and O last year. The least said the better but put it this way one of them featured Ola on her knees in front of James (both fully clothed, thank God). Oh James, you're such a funny guy!

I have no problem with people making a few bob for photo shoots but did find the Janette and Aljaz one a bit tacky, which is a shame because they seem such lovely people. Also a bit tacky - Karen tagging on the name of their hotel in their recent holiday pic's. But, hey ho,if I was offered a nice discount I'd do it. I don't think the world's quite ready though!

Once again I thank any Diety that might be listening that social media 'in my day' was a pencil case and the phone box on the corner near the pub. We had super fun, and laughs a plenty - but thankfully the memories are restricted to those who were actually there and a very few fading pictures that took 10 days to get developed and were shunted straight into a locked box.

I officially embrace boringdom

Indeed, that kind of "spontaneity" takes some skill

The Jordans display was stomach churning, wish they would just stop it.

Re The Jordans - you have to search the Daily Fail to find these photographs - so why would you bother to find and look at them ?

Re 'spontaneity' - if you watched the short video that Giovanni shared on instagram (which I am sure you obviously did - probably several times) you will have noticed that he had already squeezed some of the mayonnaise over her head and obviously thought it was so funny he wanted to share it with friends and fans.
Which is why he 'filmed' it.
He obviously didn't realise that his twitter and instagram accounts plus the Daily Fail were diligently scoured each day by a few individuals whose purpose seems to be to find further things to berate and criticise the two of them for - I mean why would anybody who finds their behaviour so reprehensible waste their time discussing them ?
Especially as some of these people appear to be considerably older and wiser (perhaps) than them.
One can quite see that Giovanni wouldn't expect such people to follow him on SM.

Re This thread - how has a relatively interesting topic been turned into yet another thread dedicated to disliking and disapproving of GG by the same few individuals ?

Re GG - they are young, foolishly in love and happy, none of which is a crime.
They became a couple very quickly after SCD, but no marriage vows were broken and no children were involved so they had no need to hide their relationship once there was open speculation in the media.
They are I suppose like Marmite in this forum - I think the vast majority wish them well but there are some people who can't forgive them for getting to the final ahead of Helen and Anita/declaring their passion for each other/using SM as most young people do/and for having a thriving and growing group of fans who try and defend them from the continuous insults from these few, most of whom have posted above.

To get back to the question posed by this thread - I guess most pro dancers are criticised from time to time, but the SCD Forum has it's favourites and these are criticised less than others.

Oh dear. I thought we had agreed that people are allowed to express opinions without the heavy appreciation mob coming over and shaking their fists at anyone who dares to criticise the sainted pair.

A lot of it is probably down to smartphones. They are pretty much extensions of some people's hands, taking and posting pictures costs nothing and can help keeps your profile up.

I don't think it's just a celeb thing though, Mr PB not so long ago changed jobs and was advised to up his internet profile before applying. As for posting any old rubbish, well that's not exclusive to celebs by any means, one of my friends has just posted a video of her ripping a plaster off her son's knee. Why? I have no idea. Karen Hauer posted a picture of her tea yesterday, riveting. And, have you seen what rubbish teenagers post?

I just think it's the way of the world, I'm not always convinced that smartphones are a good idea.

Anyway, the only pro that I don't remember seeing any critcism of is Aljaż, can't think of anything I've seen. All of the others have had their fair share.

Mr Ochre's job necessitates him having a professional online profile and social media is an important networking tool for him. You could learn something about his love of vinyl and which football team he supports alongside his mainly work related posts but there's no mention of us. Maintaining our family privacy is important to us particularly when he's in touch with clients all over the world.

The higher your public profile the more you need to consider what and what not to put out there for the public and media to see. If you make it public it's up for comment and inevitably that's going to include critical opinions. I can see twitter is a useful promotional and networking tool for the pros but then posting about their personal lives to thousands of followers can come across as them seeking personal celebrity which some clearly do.

If Aljaz doesn't say no to Janette suggesting another tacky photo shoot I'll start a thread criticising him

Aljaz got quite a bit of grumbling when he was hired that the show was only hiring identikit Eastern European hunks who looked like gangsters and didn't have "proper" dance backgrounds. I think when people got to know his individual personality (ie "look pretty, don't speak much, occasionally produce incredibly camp routines without realising it") and could "pick him out of a line-up" it went away.

Don't think Pasha has had any criticism on here other than the grumblings that he was "due a dud" last year.

Well I'd raise the age to 14 , but aside from that you're right . It's immature , but if it happens spontaneously between two adults in a kind of mating ritual then best keep it private or look like children .
I like that by and large GG are not rubbing anyone's nose in their happiness. Very untacky and refreshing . He'll probably fall for his next partner too anyway , so best enjoy it while it lasts .

It will last as long as it's mutually advantageous in terms of their careers I would imagine.

Her relationship with Giovanni appears to still be Georgia's only 'career' at the moment along with clinging on to every last sparkle of Strictly fame she can.

It will be interesting to see who Giovanni's next Strictly partner is, whether the partnership shows him in a new light and to see if he can really make a name for himself as a dancer and teacher on the show rather than most comments being about his love life!

Quite. I realise there are some die hard "Team GG" fans who are determined to believe that this is a genuine love story (as well as the frankly unpleasant and untrue statements about ex-rocks) but I suspect that most people realise this relationship is being milked for all its financial/careeer worth hence the stream of "spontaneous" bedroom selfies and food fights.

Good luck Giovanni if he tries to end their 'relationship'. He might just found out what it's like to undergo a trial by media instigated by Georgia's PR team.

Deeply unpleasant how yesterday the unfounded allegations against Sean were dredged up yet again to garner interest in GG's Strictly related appearance at an awards show. Giovanni's going to have to work hard to improve his media image as it currently consists of playing a bit part in Georgia's messy personal life.
