Why are some of the pros beyond crticism on here, where as others are fair game?

Well after reading that and all of the above I think we can safely assume that Giovanni is not one of the pros 'beyond criticism' referred to in the thread title.

Ah the return of Georgia & Giovanni's fabled 'PR team!!'

When one of you actually proves that such a beast exists please let me know so that I can personally write to them to let them know what a crap job they're making of it!!

Firstly the tour finished three weeks ago & we have had nothing official since then, just a few nice loved up pictures we've taken from the pair of them's personal Instagrams!!
What's happened to all the tabloid articles showing them buying & eating a meat pie or whatever, while walking along various streets hand in hand & going in & out of shops!!
What sort of PR team do these people call themselves? Are they not 'paying the tabloids for publicity' any more!!

Also IF it was Georgia's 'PR team' who were responsible for that article then ffs why????? What posdible good could it do Georgia she's moved on & is very happy in a new relationship!! Anyone with half a PR brain could see that all it would do would be open up the old "did Georgia cheat" arguments again, thus garnering bad publicity rather than good (though actually I completely fail to make any connection between the article and an awards ceremony that the tabloids were bound to be attending anyway??)
Far more likely to me that the tour is finished, G & G's romance is yesterday's chip paper to all but their fans ( plus a handful of 'non-fans' of course) so the Sun decided to 'stir the pot' by releasing a story they were keeping on the back burner ready for when the circus surrounding the tour finished!!
I have no intention of getting into how accurate the article is or isn't on here, as that is an entirely different issue & totally irrelevant to this thread!!

Back on topic I fully accept anyone's opinion who thinks Giovanni is arrogant or whatever!! My own view is, I thought he was bordering on it until Len pulled him up after that Rumba in week 3 (which I absolutely adore but again that's a different story) but from that moment on I think he reined his "i'm the new boy & I'm going to win this thing" enthusiasm (or arrogance if you prefer) & channelled it into focussing on how best to choreograph routines to make his partner shine & maximise her potential!! Whether or not you think he achieved that goal, I rather guess depends on how big a fan of the pairing you were & again is material for a different thread!!
Finally whether or not he took help or advice from any other choreographer (and he acknowledged he had in the Charleston), I neither know nor care, provided he worked within the parameter of the Strictly rules which, given he's been invited back for 2016, I very much assume he did!!
The result was some of the most brilliantly watchable & emotionally charged routines I have ever seen on Strictly so from me there is no criticism either way!!
Others I accept will have different opinions!!

I look forward to seeing him dance again in 2016 Strictly &, the way things stand at the moment I am personally confident Georgia will look forward to being there to support him & his new partner!! Whether the situation will still be the same come September, none of us has the crystal ball to know for sure!!

I got that impression too. It's all about gaining attention and that's one thing that really irritates me about him.

I sincerely hope Georgia won't try to steal some of his new celeb partner's limelight but it wouldn't surprise me to see her constantly hanging round.

It would be interesting to see Giovanni meet his match, perhaps a Lulu type diva to watch sparks fly Or is that cruel...

Sure Gleb promotes his modelling shots and calendar and played up to the heartthrob role thrust on him by Strictly but you can tell it's just 'work' for him. I like Gleb's attitude, he's more laidback than Giovanni, more mature with a wife and daughter and clearly experienced with these types of shows. If he did get carried away with the fame in the past he's learnt what's important and put that behind him.

And being superficial he and Tristan are far hotter than Giovanni so that sways my opinion too

Fair enough, and I was only teasing about the Instagrams - bring it on I say. Gleb is older and more experienced of course, but like Gio he would have had to start somewhere. He's also learned the hard way about fame and social media with regards to his personal life (won't get into all that here, like you say it's all in the past).

I like both of them to be honest! Gio did say in an interview that Gleb was a good friend who had helped him a lot when he joined Strictly, so that was nice to read.

ETA. And something about Gleb being the most beautiful one.

Great post but don't for one moment expect the ladies to try and answer it point by point - you can't shift blind unreasoned prejudice - they will probably think of sixteen more criticisms of GG instead !
So far they haven't attacked Georgia's looks - so expect that soon.
,,,and when you think they have scraped the barrel they will just repeat themselves as Giovanni would say over, and over, and over, and over again !
Eventually you would think they would get bored but this GG insulting, which is a bit pointless as their victims will never read it, must be a bit like kicking the dog in temper when they have lost all sense of reason - a way of getting rid of their frustrations I expect !

Did you actually watch the last series of Strictly Come Dancing ?

If you did you will have observed that far from pushing herself forward Georgia tended to get to the back of any line up.
In what way does Giovanni need to meet his match exactly ?
Again if you had watched the series you would have seen that he was a most patient and caring teacher and very supportive when his partner made mistakes or needed reassurance.
He made absolutely sure that Georgia was shown to best advantage.
Something the gorgeous Gleb might like to copy in future.

Really if you decide to dislike people it is always wiser to make your criticisms accurate and not purely spiteful and unfounded.

I liked Giovanni as a pro in the last series and whatever is going on in his personal life or not, I expect I will enjoy him as a pro in the next series if he's back.

Am I a massive fan of him and Georgia together off the dance-floor? No, I'm not...it was all a bit shady and quick but as there were no kids involved and I'm not in the relationship, I know where I can stick my opinion on them. Side-eyeing them is one thing but I don't think it is any reason to ignore how good he was at his job or think it is any reason he won't continue to be excellent next series.

As for other pro's - I think everyone has their favourites and least favourites for various reasons - some justified (lack of effort at Latin) others ridiculous (someone's last name). I think some just shout about it louder than others but I wouldn't take it as an indicator of wider feelings away from DS.

Why should Giovanni not be eligible for criticism on here when he continues to involve himself in the whole PR mess and seek that kind of celebrity?”

Quite. I see the forum police * flashing blue lights * are on patrol issuing cautions about what can and can't be said.

If that means having a certain degree of cynicism about a relationship which is being played out in the media (including the attempt to label an ex as an abuser which is, quite frankly, vile behaviour) then yes, you're quite right.

Isn't that was Georgia's ex was roundly and soundly criticised for doing?

Artem 'got' Holly his year after Kara, so the Partnering Elves allocating Giovanni another 'contender on paper' isn't impossible - which would be interesting especially for people who were more invested in the Georgia and Giovanni partnership than anything else.

Nice post. I loathe the way Gleb is attacked, especially in an attempt to deflect feelings towards Giovanni. BIB: This is very true.

I don't know why some pros are attacked more than others. By that I mean abiding attack, not dislike in their first year. Kevin seems to have borne enough wrath to last the rest of his career with his every move and piece of choreography scrutinised for fault.

I fully agree with you there!! The amount of, not just criticism, but downright vitriol that Kevin receives on this forum is nothing short of diabolical!!

Re Gleb by the way, all the way through the latter stages of his & Anita's time on Strictly I was one of his staunchest supporters on the MF, regularly pointing out to all those Glita fans who bizarrely turned against him, that without the brilliance of his choreography the partnership wouldn't have made it past the early weeks, so even as a dyed in the wool GG fan I will not be 'deflecting criticism onto Gleb!!', Loved the guy & his theatrical routines!!

When a male pro has become involved with their partner, the producers do seem to like giving them someone the next year with maximum potential for 'xxx is jealous' headlines. They did it with Artem and Pasha so I wouldn't be surprised to see Giovanni get someone young and attractive next series if he and Georgia are still together. I wish they would ignore tabloid potential when doing the pairings as it can sometimes be detrimental to the dancing if height and personality are ignored in favour of it.

I'll not rise to any baiting about Sean, as I said in my earlier post, that is for a different thread & totally off topic here!!
Regarding his next 'partnership', interesting in what way?
If you're suggesting he'll dump Georgia for a relationship with his next partner then...well how can any of us possibly know??
I personally believe most strongly that at the moment G &G are in a very loving relationship, you only have to look at them together & it's staring you in the face, but young love is notoriously fickle so I'm not going to say for certain that I think their relationship is forever!!
It would be nice for us as fans of the pair if it was but obviously at the moment they're still 'on honeymoon' so to speak & the real test will come when they are working apart, the next series of Strictly being just a part of that!!

That said it will be strange for me, as such a fan of this partnership, to see him dancing with someone else come Seprember, however young, attractive or otherwise she is Lol!!

Apologies if you felt that came across as bating - not the intention at all. Was more of a musing out loud thing.

'interesting' from the point of view of people who were heavily invested as Georgia and Giovanni as a couple rather than Giovanni for himself as a pro dancer and how they will be with him being with a different celeb, that's all. Nothing to do with their actual relationship.

I recall that interview too--he talked about how Gleb took him under his wing, as he'd had so much experience with other Strictly shows and helped Gio navigate it all. It went against the prevailing "Gleb is always looking for a mirror" narrative of that time.

That's an interesting point, and could well be true.

I don't often post down here in the MF, and I'm fairly neutral regarding the Geo/Gio partnership both on and off the dancefloor, but I have noticed that the App thread has been a lot more active post- Strictly than it was during the actual show.

Interesting point Aggs. Personally I always support the celeb rather than the pro - well the partnership of the two to be exact - because that's what Strictly should really be about. I mean, I absolutely loved Vincent as a dancer, but I was never in a million years going to vote for him and Edwina Currie

Some of the Appreciation threads for former couples have been running for years, even though the professional (and in some cases personal) partnerships have long since finished, so I guess people can still keep the interest going if they want to.

Absolutely no probs from me Aggs & I'm sorry if I came across a bit defensive

Just that I am aware that feelings on that subject run high on both sides (for obvious reasons) & after the closure of that other thread we are probably being 'watched' over here & I have no desire whatsoever to see this or our own appreciation thread closed due to any of us veering off topic & starting a heated debate about someone who has no relevance to this thread, so yeah, sorry sbout that!!

Regarding your point yes it is interesting & I've already given my views above though I was one who didn't even spot the potential of GG as a couple until after Strictly finished!!
It was only after spending time with the bunch of hopeless romantics on our thread that I actually realised that yeah, the signs had probably been there for a while!!

I don't honestly know how I will feel watching Gio train up & dance with another celeb, but I guess it will seem strange as I said in my previous post!!
