Why are some of the pros beyond crticism on here, where as others are fair game?

Some of the Appreciation threads for former couples have been running for years, even though the professional (and in some cases personal) partnerships have long since finished, so I guess people can still keep the interest going if they want to.”

Ditto! Luckily, I was put out of my misery quite rapidly when they were eliminated first!

Going to see Flavia and Vincent on their tour soon. Can't wait.

Couldn't agree more. By all means critique their work (and occasional quirky sartorial choices ) but the personal attacks and slurs are unnecessary. Wasn't there a daft and completely untrue rumour that he was Len's godson that ran and ran for a while?

As was Vincent I think

Lucky you, I am extremely jealous!

One of our thread members compiled the statistics just yesterday & yes the GG thread has been three times more active since Strictly finished though some of that is down to the fact we are still gaining members all the time!!
There may be some like myself who were staunch GG followers throughout the series & regularly posting positive comments about them/defending them on numerous MF threads, but only actually discovered the Appreciation thread when the series ended & were looking for another outlet for our love of all things GG!!

Seems those of us who love the partnership have absolutely no intention of 'letting go' any time soon will be intetesting to see whether the thread still carries on after Strictly starts again, guess that will depend a lot on Geo & Gio & whether they stay together!!

That said, as another poster above has said, some of these appeeciation threads have been running for years so why not!!

I'm a huge fan of Matthew and was watching some of his and Alesha's dances last night, they're still great, no messing about at the beginning, no props or "tricks" just excellent dancing, worthy winners of Series 5, imo

I saw the show on Tuesday and it was fantastic, one of the best shows I've ever seen and they got a well deserved standing ovation at the end

I always loved the Flavia and Vincent partnership and Flavia herself was one of my favourite pros. I also really respect the way she and Jimi's relationship which to me is built on genuine love. No need to pimp out photos and videos to be picked up by the Fail etc. Good luck to them and I wish them a very happy marriage.

I've been to some of Vincent and Flavia's dance classes and they're both lovely people, so friendly and I always liked her partnership with Jimi

Even Lulu's diva credentials pale in comparison

Ah well if he's wishing a diva on himself I will have no sympathy if the producers listen to him

Could be he gets the predictable young, attractive 'competition for Georgia' contestant (I don't think I could cope with another GG love triangle or quadrangle next series). He'd be better off in a comedy partnership where he can show more personality.

Kevin's dancing can be a bit frantic for me but he's definitely one of the cleverest choreographers on the show. What he pulled off with his hip hop samba for Kellie when given that awful music was brilliant.

The next Strictly is always a new year for me and hopefully I will have someone to support. The only recent year I didn't was 2012. But yeah I like Giovanni as a pro and I would like him to win in the next two to three years. They weren't really a factor in the first five weeks (apart from Len having a moan about their Rumba) and for me only really got going in the Samba. I guess their AP thread is still busy because they are providing news, all the other celebs have now gone back to their day jobs or getting ready for their next job. Nice to see Aliona at the award show, shame that Jay was unable to make it, hopefully winning Strictly will help him do what he wants to do next.

Same here. I wish those two were married.

Re Gleb by the way, all the way through the latter stages of his & Anita's time on Strictly I was one of his staunchest supporters on the MF, regularly pointing out to all those Glita fans who bizarrely turned against him, that without the brilliance of his choreography the partnership wouldn't have made it past the early weeks, so even as a dyed in the wool GG fan I will not be 'deflecting criticism onto Gleb!!', Loved the guy & his theatrical routines!!”

That's nice to know. Your post chimes with my thoughts.

They are married Sarah It was very low key, Flavia posted one photo on her Twitter account for her followers to see. She looked beautiful and they looked really happy. No magazine deals, no interviews, no friends/family talking to the press about them - they even managed to show in Sainsburys unnoticed

Yes, sorry, I did mean Jimi and not Vincent.

I know what you meant. I do like Jimmy too. There are a nice couple and like you said, no drama. Is he still on Coranation street??. Jimmy has done some movies too.

Yes it's amazing how bigger stars than GG can pick up their fruit and veg without a pap following them to the supermarket.

Flavia is a class act and I love her and Jimi as a couple. They were so discreet on the show.

Gosh thinking back to Flavia and Vincent's incredible performances on Strictly it makes me wistful for what Strictly once was, we now have the pro dancers gyrating around washing machines. There aren't many current pros who can match that standard in their respective specialisms. Joanne obviously in ballroom and my favourite pro dances last series were Joanne and Giovanni dancing to Seal and Joanne with Anton. Although I actually prefer watching her partnered with Aljaz for ballroom.

And having also partnered Tristan in the past and Gleb on the tour, she's a lucky girl isn't she

He left Corrie last year I think, not sure what projects he's working on now.

Totally random but do any of you remember Robin & Kristina's routine to Christina Perri's 'Jar of Hearts' a couple of series ago?
That was THE most powerful, brilliant & emotionally charged pro routine I have ever seen on Strictly!!
It was the first time I'd come across the song & I was well & truly hooked on it & remain so to this day!!

Yes I remember that performance, loved it.

I'd like to see Robin back on the main show, he's too good for the rubbish they gave him on ITT last series. His interview with Zoe about his experiences dancing at Blackpool was nice though.

Couldn't agree more about Jo Clifton.

I see you again point to Flavia as being the ultimate in controlling her SM presence.
This had not been the case with her earlier Strictly romances.

However, what you seem to not realise is that the press were just not that interested in Flavia and Jimmy's romance - had they been they would have stalked them and would have photographed them at every opportunity !
If the general public had shown an appetite for news of them as a couple the press would have fed that appetite - they want to sell newspapers and get masses of hits on line so they feature people who are popular or interesting to the public obviously, especially their younger readers who spend more time on line.

Although a lovely couple perhaps Jimmy and Flavia were just not exciting enough to generate much mass interest.
Jimmy although a fairly well known actor was not a heart throb and probably a little old to become one by the time he did Strictly - he had also been married for many years and had a daughter who is now 15.
But more to the point he was eliminated in week 6 of Strictly, so the audience had shown little interest and had not voted for them as a couple to keep them in the show.
Had they made the finals maybe the press would have been more interested in them don't you think ?

I think the tabloids run stories on people who are prepared to let them.

There are far more celebs in the world than those who fill the Sidebar Of Shame and the like. David Tennant seems to manages to go shopping or take his kids to the park without a daily chronicle. Denise Van Outen was regularly photographed walking down the street/leaving work/having a cup of coffee/frolicking in the surf of various holiday destinations when in Strictly but has been absent from the papers for ages. It's not that she's not walking down the street now - just that she has nothing to promote and so doesn't need her name out there so much.

I don't actually think the press need to stalk people anymore. What would be the odds of a pap being at a garden centre when Peter Andre arrived to buy a tub of marigolds for example? Mostly, they are 'by arrangement' and anyway, with camera phones everyone is potentially a pap - and that before you get to zeleb so who make it easy for them by putting on a social media site to be mined.

Absolutely right. It's absurd to think that the people who don't appear in the side bar of shame on a regular basis are the ones who the public aren't interested in!
