Mr G is usually booked for the New Year to provide music in return for a meal for two. If there’s another couple I like doing the same thing, I’ll go out with him. If not he goes out on his own and we get a meal voucher to use at a later date.

I’d rather be on my own than with company I don’t like. The place were we celebrate New Year restricts numbers so it isn’t packed so it’s not too bad.

Same here.

My son has worked CD and BD for many years due to double time on CD and time and a half on BD. It was well worth it to him. He's had a couple of years off but only because other workers wanted the chance to work and earn!

Afternoon Eddy

It isn't anything here today.

Not for many months, you great eejit!

Too right, life is too short to be hanging around eejits you don't even like!

There's always people who don't actually mind working those days.

Calm down dear, don't get yer nightie in a knot!

I'll bet you wouldn't have any qualms about popping into a pub for a drink or two on BD or CD or even a Sunday. So it's a tad hypocritical to be up for that but not for shopping. Or aren't pub workers worthy of holidays.

What happens to people who don't have family (or no family near them), working on those days might mean they actually have the opportunity to have human contact! Christmas can be a very lonely time for some people.

Afternoon all. ”

This is perhaps why everyone (except for emergencies) should be allowed a break

Doesn't say much for friends and family if you can't stand their company.

Nothing wrong with people working around Christmas, it's just the compulsion or lose your job I'm against.

Don’t have any friends but love being with my kids. Mr G is the sociable one and I like most of his friends but not all of them.

*slurps* Thanks Chin and whatever you are having.

I do agree with your comments about Christmas working and shopping hours.

PS - I'm certain that EbeneSR Scrooge will be visited by 3 ghosts this Christmas.

Not everyone enjoys playing happy families.

Oh you would, being such a brown nose that is. Funny how you've stopped abusing Parton & Gorbals.

More likely to happen to you!
