OMG! You wouldn't believe the morning I've had..........1st of all the other day I had picked up a prescription got it home & discovered it was the wrong size needles, took it back & had to wait until another script was made out & then collected the correct needles.
I then had to order more insulin, & needed it before the surgery/pharmacy closed for the holidays (until tomorrow).
Finished the last of the insulin in the Kwik pen last night so this morning took a new one of of the fridge to leave it at room temp. Had a look at it & realised ot wasn't the same as the original pen as I thought the one I had was a throwaway one (which it is).
Decided to go to Boots (10-00am) to see if they were open today, they were & the pharmacist there had a look in her medi book & said the new insulin was for a different pen, so not any good for me.
She then phoned St Johns hospital who eventually phoned her back to tell her they had one pack but would need to make sure a patient didn't need it. Finally they phoned back to say I could have it, but they closed at 3-00pm & I would also have to see an out of hours GP as they couldn't just give it out without a script!
By this time it was almost midday & the pharmacist had said she'd phoned the on call GP & as he was dealing with patients she would call me & let me know which medical practise he was working from & I could go there & collect script. If I'd phoned I could have been waiting for several hours in a queue & more than likely miss the hospital pharmacy.
I then picked up what I needed from Asda & was ready to drive home when I had a call from St Johns, a really nice GP told me he couldn't write out a script for the hospital pharmacy but he'd managed to get an A&E doc to sign it. Phew!
Went to A&E & picked up said script & then on to the pharmacy.
Finally got home just before 1-30pm!
What a bloody palaver, but at least I got it sorted. I have to say the pharmacist in Boots couldn't have been any more helpful. She went beyond & above her job. I'll have to hand in a card & some flowers, she was so so helpful.
Of course all this has to happen when it's a public holiday & my health centre & the next door pharmacy are closed!
Afternoon all.
