The Tory government has cut grants to local councils who are now passing on the costs to their towns. In addition there has been a massive strain on local amenities in many places due to the influx of migrants.

*slinks in and swishes shiny golden mane* I has had a hairdressers!!!
Ooooooo very nice.
Fairly old for a Maine Coon. It seems that larger breeds of cats and dogs have shorter lives.
I didn't know that, that's a shame. The majority of cats I've had lived until 18 (inc Siamese cat), one dog was 14.
I only go around three times a year for some foils. I cut mine myself [to the hairdresser's horror!!] and I just needed a bit of brightening on the roots. Fortunately for me I've only a very few greys as yet. I take after my mum in that respect!
Gawd I would look like a lunatic if I did that! My hair grows so quickly I really should have it cut every 4 weeks as it grows out the way as well as down!
Good evening Sleeps, chin, twassington, everyone.

Hi there Chin. I'll have a stella to go with my Emmerdale and whatever you are having.

A word of warning to you. Sleeps and his stooge, twassington, are planning to poison our dinners with SR's contaminated food. Keep a look out.
Stop being a drama queen.........you don't half like yer dramatics! ROLLEYES

How much! How the hell do they expect people to be able fork out a hike that size?

Is there a cap on what they can charge? The SNP have allowed councils up here to do the same, but it's capped at 3%.

Morning SR! It went up to over a grand in TOTAL. When I moved here 3 years back it was £800 and something per year.

Are there folk who pay over a grand a MONTH in Council tax then??

I'm sure there must be. But no doubt they're the ones who receive all sorts of lucrative tax benefits. ROLLEYES
Our Council tax hasn't gone up in 7 years, so I guess it had to happen sooner than later. Of course the Tories (who weren't voted for in Scotland), have cut the budget for the Scottish parliament, citing we can now set our own tax......all very well & good in theory, however it makes the Scottish parliament look like the bad guys if they up tax rates. Which is what the Tories wanted in the 1st place!
Waaaaah!

Byeeeee, you have a good one too.
