How is this possible ?

Maybe missing something here but how is it possible that all my TVs work without an aerial connected to them ? I only noticed this today that my finlux 50 '" gen 4 has had no arial plugged in it for months. Even more biazare the splitter is not connected so the Toshiba in bedroom connected to you view box is again picking up digital signal with all channels including HD channels ? How is technically possible my girlfriend convinced the place is haunted now.

If the signal strength is high enough then no aerial is required. A bit of damp string will work.

So not entirely impossible for the TVs to work with nothing plugged in. You may find the signal strength reading is a bit variable though.

Strong signal area.

My upstairs TV springs into life if I just touch the empty aerial socket with a finger, and I'm 15 miles from the transmitter.

She's got it in one there, ignore the nonsense posted by the others. The ectoplasm ionises the air allowing radio waves to pass through it removing the need for an aerial.

Have a look at:

Enter your post code and see how far you are from your suggested transmitter, and how powerful it is.

I think I was visiting Shepley in Yorkshire when I was told that people living there don't require a TV aerial.

I live in the shadow of the Sandy Heath transmitter, and I need an aerial for TV, albeit a small one.

Take any aerial recommendations it makes with a large pinch of salt though. According to that site I need an extra high gain amplified aerial. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have the lowest gain aerial type there is (a log periodic) and it is unamplified and simply feeding the TV from a direct connection. The signal level at the TV is very close to the upper maximum recommended level of 65dB. I get 61-63dB across all my tuned muxes.
