Diet dinners - thoughts?

Hi guys,

I'm starting my diet tomorrow and have been searching google to come up with the below dinners for this week. I would appreciate any feedback on whether this is a balanced diet which will help with my weight loss. I haven't included breakfast and lunch as I have these at work and they are usually only cereal and soup anyway, it's mainly dinners and snacking I need to sort out! I've tried to go for things that my partner can eat too, as I don't want to cook two separate meals.

Tuesday - Roasted salmon with kale salad (kale, apple, dates, almonds, pecorino) with a wholemeal roll

Wednesday -Meatballs made with 5% pork mince, tomato sauce (homemade) and courgette spaghetti

Thursday - Spiced pork fillet (roasted) with giant couscous salad (couscous, butternut squash, red onion, garlic, chilli, mint, parsley, pine nuts, raisins)

Friday - Chicken breast (roasted) with butternut squash & garlic mash, roasted broccoli and small amount of sage butter

Saturday - Seabass fillet in a parcel with chilli, ginger, garlic, spring onion, lime with boiled rice and pak choi

Sunday - Chicken breast roasted with cajun spices with mini corn tortillas, mashed avocado, tomato salsa and red cabbage

They look OK to me. The one thing I would recommend with your breakfast and lunch (I know you haven't included these) is to ensure you have plenty of fruit and vegetables at these times and not just dinner. You have a good variety of produce there for your dinner which is a good thing.

Best of luck

They sound good to me.

I'd be cautious of your app breakfast and lunch though. Some cereals contain a lot of sugar for a start and the actual portion size you SHOULD have is a lot less than would satisfy most people. Add some fruit as said though and that should be more satisfying.

Lunch...soups... Depends on the soup. Powdered instant soups have little to no nutritional benefit and tinned soup quite often have a lot of added sugar and cream. at risk of being one of those that says to make your own, a good homemade soup will be nicer and much more nutritionally beneficial than most ready made/instant soups.

Yes, your meals look nutritious. I know I wouldn't stick to that diet though, as it's too different from my usual dinners. I just try to make healthier versions now...actifry chips rather than proper chips, fromage frais rather than cream in sauces, cut the fat off bacon etc.

I've been eating M&S soups for lunch recently. Costs about 70p per can, they don't include anything nasty (that I've been able to spot, at any rate) and they're actually really nice.

Your dinners sound delicious and well balanced!

What cereal do you have in the morning?
What snacks do you have?

My favourite healthy snack at the moment is low-fat plain greek yoghurt, sometimes with half a grapefruit or lemon added. It's nice with smooshed up berries too. I have it for breakfast actually, but I know it's a snack for some people.
