Is this just like a half-hour music video of F1 incidents? No commentary or anything from what I can see?

It is the off-season in fairness, I'm sure we'll have more to discuss when the season starts... it's still a great thread.

Still not upgrading though, can't justify a higher monthly cost for nothing, and refuse to 'buy' a box (Sky call it an activation fee, but activating it does not that much) that I am only renting!”

Yes, your're right. It is so unlike Sky.

Maybe they really feel threatened by BT.

Interestingly, if you do upgrade, the service needs a proprietory LNB, which will break compatibility with any other (either Sky+ or Freesat) box, so if you decide to leave Sky, you'd then have to pay someone to have your SkyQ LNB replaced with the standard LNB...

So yeah, bit of a lock-in there...

Dirty tricks eh? . How many customers won't be aware of this then.

There's a perfectly valid technical reason to use it. Some of the Humax Freesat kit can work with an SCR LNB I think - whether it's compatible with the one Sky Q uses I don't know, but they're not some strange technology Sky's cooked up to be awkward. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Re the current live press conference for the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans and WEC
The translation and french commentary are at the same levels. Very annoying.
Notice most there have an earpiece to listen to the translation.
Why cant the stream have single english translation too...

Had to give up with it, it was just a noise.

2016 Bathurst 12 Hours

This Weekend another big endurance takes the stage as Australia get's ready for it's biggest race of the year so far. Enter the Bathurst 12 hours!

Practice has already begun but there is still lot's to look forward to including the TV coverage in Australia. The whole event will again be broadcasted live and free on Seven and 7Mate. 7Mate will broadcast the first and last part of the race with Seven broadcasting the halfway mark of the race.

The same cannot be said in the UK though, there will be no TV coverage at all although luckily there will be streaming options on the website of Qualifying and the race. As well as that there will be Radio Le Mans commentary and also live timing so again it's not all bad for international viewers.

Below is the schedule you need for Qualifying and Race coverage:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raceweek Schedule
UK: (GMT)
Qualifying,06/02/16: 1:30am-3am (Bathurst12Hour.com)
Race,06-07/02/16: 6:30pm-7:00am (Bathurst12Hour.com)

Australia: (AEDT)
Qualifying,06/02/16: 12:30pm-3pm (Bathurst12Hour.com)
Race, 07/02/16: 5:30am-6:00pm (7Mate, 5:30am-11:00am, 5:00pm-6:00pm, Seven, 11:00am-5:00pm)

This increasingly infrequent reader understands that JP just posted TRUTH.

It used to be an interesting read when there were a few people in-the-know here...

I've Updated the list below to fix a error with Qualifying time and a couple of minor tweaks:

SkyQ doesn't use an SCR LNB, it uses a Wideband LNB, the two are not the same.

It's possible that third party boxes in the future may be able to support Wideband LNB's, but right now, they don't. I believe Sky's ones are proprietary right now for SkyQ.

I just want to add that yes there are technical advantages for them to use a Wideband LNB - essentially instead of carrying 1 mux per cable, they can do 6 per cable (powering a total of 12 tuners), so yeah there are positives, yet also negatives from a compatibility side.

Not sure that means a great deal TBH. TG seems to be compiling a portfolio of part-time presenters, so that's unlikely to prevent him from covering ten F1 race weekends as well. Whether having feet in both camps would get agreed to by all parties involved is another matter, of course.

Looks like Alain Prost has let slip that he may well be part of Channel 4's team: http://motorsports.nbcsports.com/201...sport-f1-team/

That would be a HUGE coup for C4 in getting Prost IMHO!

Enjoyed the Bathurst in previous years.
Goof International stream for qualy. Shame a bit some of the ad breaks with Aussie ads.
Nice split screens for in car and interviews and clear graphics.
