Remember the song that featured on Sky's Lewis Hamilton 3rd title tribute? It's now available on Spotify and ITunes. (Raleigh Ritchie-On Fire)

Audio problems with GP2, can hardly hear Davide Valsecchi who's on co-commentator duties. Also a few half-second drop-outs from Alex Jacques.

The HD onboards are virtually useless too, a totally unstable signal. Obviously it's exascerbated by the buildings etc at Monaco, but it's been happening at every circuit. How on earth was this not spotted before FOM decided to switch to this new system?

Well the HD onboards were working fine yesterday, even through the tunnel.

Irrelevant. They continue to suffer massive breakup at every single track this year. Don't see it in any other series. It's embarrassing.

I disagree, i've watched all current sessions since Melbourne, and with the exception of Melbourne, onboard footage has been largely trouble-free. Other series quite often have spec cars, so electrical interference sapping away the signal is less of a problem there.

By that logic GP2 should have more break-up free onboard signals. But the troubles are present there as well, probably even more...

This in my opinion is completely wrong.

The prime example of this is the onboard laps from Qualifying in Spain Sky did. Ant had to apologise on three occasions for the picture break ups on both Hamilton and Rosbergs cars. It has been atrocious all season.

Indeed. I think a lot of the time the footage isn't even going out on the world feed because it's unusable, but Sky had the choice of using those onboards or having nothing at all so had to go with it.

The signal corruption has been so bad this year the picture often switches aspect ratio as it breaks up as you see the wheels move further out on the picture. It just suggests to me that they never bothered testing it at all. The early laps of GP2 this morning showed just how bad it gets.

Well it all depends on what your definition of 'Largely trouble-free is'.
To me, a few momentary (no more then 2/3 seconds long each) blips per lap is fine...

They were testing the HD onboards towards the end of 2015, as previous posts on here will be able to show.

That is a lot of time for an F1 car and if that is per lap for an average race that is 1 -2 minutes of broken footage

Not a lot then throughout the race then...

On-board breakup often affects most of the specific incident they actually want to show, one of the reasons it's so annoying.

But I ain't arguing this further, I can't believe anyone actually thinks having a stable picture needs justifying...

Of course we should have a stable picture, but I don't think the dropouts so far have been especially major OVERALL, with the exception of Melbourne. It's only natural that in a crash/spin where the camera may be moving around differently than usual that you'd get a picture break-up, which is unfortunate.

Just loved the two live f1 shows, especially the one this evening.
Quality broadcasting, capturing the feel and spirit of all that happens around Monaco and the latest f1 news snippets..
Do feel whenever Rachel is on these shows too, it always works so much better.
Just had a round of applause after the show ended from the extended crowd here; neighbours and all our families.
We were all watching on an iPad Pro outside enjoying a shared barbecue having our own Fri evening Monaco party

Or maybe you're wearing anti-FOM tinted specs?

No. If a number of people are clearly having a similar thought then there is one who is so far the opposite... clearly you've the tinted specs.

Now THIS is an on-board video at Monaco. Patrick Depailler, Tyrrell P34.

However, I like this 1973 on-board more, as you can see the building and demolition work in progress to create the Monaco we see today.

Like I said, we clearly differ on what we consider to be a "satisfactory" quality for onboards. I'm not saying the onboards are flawless (they're not), but the interference isn't a killer for me to be honest. It doesn't spoil my enjoyment that much.

I see Eurosport have shunted the Porsche Supercup race off the schedules again (They've decided to show a repeat of tennis highlights)... Porsche should look at how their championship is distributed on TV tbh, Eurosport aren't doing it justice IMO.

However we aren't arguing this. It is every onboard on every bog standard lap, which is unacceptable. I don't think anyone expects a clean feed on board when there is a crash.

I saw onboard laps this morning that were disruption free, Hulkenberg at the end of FP3 today for example.
