I've noticed on the official Baku City Circuit website that they have posted about Sky Sports filming at the new circuit, The article is really interesting and a good read however the first paragraph shocked me a bit, the sentence i'm talking about is in bold:

Baku City Circuit (BCC) was delighted to welcome the Sky Sports F1 team to Baku last weekend. Host broadcaster filmed first impressions of F1’s newest circuit.
I hope i'm not reading too much into that but I would be very surprised if Sky was producing coverage of the race. Although to be honest I think this is very unlikely as Sky are doing cost cut's at the moment.

The good news is that there has been other things filmed other than a notebook, the article mentions that Sky have been going around the city itself and a interview with Executive Director, Arif Rahimov. Finally for those who are wondering when the Baku features air:

For those wishing to see how Ted and his crew got on in Baku, the final footage of Ted discussing the Baku City Circuit with his usual insight and good humour will air the weekend of the Australian Grand Prix, March 18-20th. In addition, coverage of the Sky trip to Baku will also air on the 24-Hour Sky Sports News channel while the Sky Sports F1 website (www.skysports.com/f1) will also host an edited version of their time in Baku.
Good to see that there will plenty of Baku on the way, looking forward to the notebook as well.

On the subject of Formula E coverage here in the UK, again it's very disappointing that at the moment we will not see live coverage, I don't see the problem of at least putting the race on either ITV2/3. Both have been used for overflowing coverage so I can't see a problem with ITV putting Formula E on another channel. ITV2 would be a good channel to put it on as it will target a younger audience, ITV3 would also be a fine channel to put it on although it would look slightly weird putting a Formula E race on a drama based channel.

The trouble now is that with the event not being live is that there's a very high chance that ITV will not promote the race at all and with the delayed program on a time which very little will be awake for. The only positive I can see out of this is the Sunday morning highlights show getting a slightly bigger audience, but overall I can see the 11:15pm airing going under 50k and possibly lower.

If Sky were paid to produce the coverage...

It would be shit and we'd be seeing far more ads for Sky Broadband, The Sun, The Times, anything Murdoch has his hands on... They'd make a barebones world feed available to non-Sky broadcasters, while far more coverage features would be brought under a paywall for Sky broadcasters/affiliates only.

It's a poorly worded statement IMO. I mean technically Sky were the host broadcaster at the event - i.e. the unveiling of the circuit. So I suppose it's right. But yeah I think it's just a poorly worded sentence. Replace the word "Host" with "The" and it seems normal.

A1GP had extensive cross promotion on Sky, I never missed a race. FE, I never know it's on, was there a race today? Not seen one live this season, just don't know they are on!
Yes, I mostly miss Formula E as I have no idea it's coming. I watched the highlights yesterday morning, but only because I read this thread yesterday. It was a good race, though the cars are still too slow and the tracks too Mickey Mouse. Playing the pit radios of two drivers simultaneously did get a bit confusing, especially when one was speaking French and one English. On top of that the two commentators often spoke at the same time too.

hopefully as we getting very close to the start of F1 season channel 4 will have to say something about its presenters very soon hopefully Monday

Haven't you heard? The Channel 4 F1 coverage will be a fortnightly special edition of Gogglebox where David Coulthard sits on a settee describing to viewers what is happening on the Sky Sports F1

well. I have asked the channel 4 facebook page on the matter, last time i did that with twitter we had the race dates tv picks made public. I am a disapported on what ITV4 planing to do with Formula e race at Mexico as it not going to shown live at 10,00pm instead showing snooker and as we all know snooker could end early or run over by miles

think sky have missed a trick, for a very low cost they could paint a wall and film it drying, would get far more viewers than the current f1 and be more exciting to watch.

The film has been done - just need to broadcast it split the 10 hours over a week-end.

Still prefer F1 myself though.

The picks are out. Channel 4 have gone for the Red paint, Green paint and Grey paint weekends to show live. Surprised they missed out on the opportunity to show Yellow.

I'm surprised there still hasn't been an announcement on the C4 line-up. As we expected they'll be the typical C4 entertainment face to make it 'trendy' and a few familiar faces from the Beeb and F1 (including one who failed in it!). Oh for those celebrating that EJ is no longer on the telly...expect to see him back for the occasional live. It'll certainly be a bit different....

I dont know, rumour at the weekend was that EJ was on the brink of joining Evans and LeBlanc on the Top Gear reboot.

It was interesting the Lee McKenzie was working the BBC 6 Nations coverage on Saturday. While not necessarily conclusive, the 6 Nations does run up until and includes the weekend of the Australian GP - so it may possibly suggest that she's staying with the BBC.

In that case I'd expect McKenzie to take over as lead on the 5Live coverage, with Jenny Gow making the switch to C4 (effectively a tv/radio swap). While she's not new to 5Live listeners - I guess Gow would qualify as a "new face" for C4

Steve Jones seems to be the odds on favourite for the presenter role - he's started following a lot of F1 people on twitter apparently, and he's got a history of working with C4.

I'd hope and assume that Ben Edwards would continue - no real reason to change a working commentary duo.

Leaves the 3rd 'presenter' role, and pit reporter role unfilled.

The 3rd presenter role could be filled on a rotating weekend by weekend (any of Wark Webber, Suzie Wolff, Graham Lowdon, Alain Prost, etc) basis which leaves the just the pit reporter role really.

While he's as dull as dishwater, Tom Clarkson could well continue in that role if they don't have anyone else lined up.

Ben Edwards, Lee McKenzie and Guy Martin to feature in C4 line-up apparently. Wording implies Martin is not the lead presenter though

Hmm, I'm trying to work out the reference to somebody who "failed" - is this a reference to a failed racing career in F1, or a failed career on the BBC F1 coverage? Surely the latter could only refer to Jonathan Legard - surely not?!?! Whilst Gary Anderson was dropped, he was hardly a failure in his role, he just came to a parting of the ways with the Beeb. And I can't think of anybody else who the Beeb dropped during their time covering the sport?

A week ago I would have easily believed McKenzie, but she was very involved with the BBC 6 Nations coverage on Saturday. While of course it's possible she's working on a week to week basis, it just feels a bit odd if she's about to jump ship.

I could see here staying at the BBC and covering F1 on the Radio and News Channel.
At the BBC she can be involved with the Olympics etc as well.

We'll see soon enough.

"Personality led" might back up the Steve Jones rumours too.

I tend to take what James Allen says with a large pinch of salt.
Some serious confusion in one article i mean, Lee McKenzie while i think she is one of, if not the best reporter in the business besides Ted Kravitz and would love her to be on C4 coverage, the job she has at the BBC is way too good to walk away from!
Guy martin is a motorcyclist, not a car racer so thats a bit arse-backwards to boot!
