In that case I'd expect McKenzie to take over as lead on the 5Live coverage, with Jenny Gow making the switch to C4 (effectively a tv/radio swap). While she's not new to 5Live listeners - I guess Gow would qualify as a "new face" for C4
Jennie did rule herself out of joining Channel 4 on a recent episode of Fighting Talk.

We know Lee is held in high esteem by Jake of Whisper at least. If James Allen is pretty sure her and Ben are on their way to C4, then that's good enough for me. It could just be that she's saying yes to everything the BBC is offering her at the moment because she wants to keep good links with the BBC ongoing.

Complete guesswork on my behalf, but I think EJ is playing both Channel 4 and BBC off against each other - and that's why we're waiting to hear the final lineups of both Top Gear and C4 F1.

Yeah quite possibly.

I don't think C4 would be that interested in EJ to be honest, they said they'd have a fresh approach, and it's not going to look that fresh if 2 out of the 3 main leads are continuing as before.

I don't think DC and EJ are as chummy as you'd think. I get the feeling that they were both friends with Jake, but not so much with each other. Some of the needling that went on towards the end of the BBC F1 run seemed to hint, to me anyway, that DC wasn't that keen on EJ by the end.

C4 would also do well in getting someone who really knows these specification of cars. That's something not even Sky really has - my picks would by Suzy Wolff and Graham Lowdon. Suzy would help the gender balance of the team, and Lowdon would bring an up to date team boos experience, whereas Jordan is 10 years out of date by now.

But I can easily see them having someone different in the 3rd presenter role each week, at least at the start. That doesn't have to be finalised just yet. The pitlane reporter is likely someone they'd want to have nailed down first.

A week ago I would have easily believed McKenzie, but she was very involved with the BBC 6 Nations coverage on Saturday. While of course it's possible she's working on a week to week basis, it just feels a bit odd if she's about to jump ship.
The days of exclusivity in sports broadcasting are long gone - BBC's 6 Nations coverage is hosted by the man ITV had host the World Cup, whilst ITV's is hosted by one of BBC Radio 5 Live's lead presenters. Most of the reports and commentators have had roles on both or on BT Sport (Sky still don't seem too keen on sharing, but did release their commentators for the Rugby World Cup). Most of C4's racing and Paralympic presenters have roles with other channels.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see C4 use a more prominent presenter on the live races and a secondary host fronting the non-live races.

That would be a very arse-backwards approach not to mention confusing to the viewer.
having one makes it simpler plus keeps costs down for Channel 4 aswell as making it easier for the team as a whole to get used to eachother and create a solid working relationship

If most of the team is going to be the same as the BBC except the presenter, having a more flexible pool of second pundits to tap into would be a good idea, especially as some drivers will be racing somewhere else on some race weekends.

Channel 4 probably will use Eddie Jordan sometimes, but there's no reason why they need to have the same pundits all the time. Same with Top Gear really, I don't see what Eddie would bring to that on a weekly basis. Chris Evans is the lead presenter, Matt Le Blanc can do challenges with him and the odd test drive, the third spot should be flexible rather than just repeating the same formula. There's so many people in a Formula One paddock, Channel 4 really don't need to restrict themselves.

Guy Martin?? He's a motorcyclist, be shocked to see if this true
Well the BBC had Barry Shene commentating/pit-reporting on the 1994 Australian Grand Prix didn't they? (Although that was a one-off I think). Personally I think we should have more guest commentators.

Re. Top Gear, EJ doing a feature on the DeLorean? I'd watch that. Actually EJ's the kinda wacky guy that would suit C4 tbh, far more than Crazy Dave.

Didn't Barry Sheene refer to Michael Schumacher as a 'dreadful kraut' or something similar in the aftermath of the incident with Damon Hill?! I think at the time the BBC were trying out various people in the pit-lane, and Sheene only lasted for the one race as a result of his outburst! (Of course, the job eventually went to Tony Jardine for the BBC's last season or so)

Salvation! Credit to the organisers. They seem very responsive to broadcasting issues. (Although unfortunately their on-screen race control messages are often awkward attempts at Franglais.)

Barry Sheene was actually the pit reporter at the Australian Grand Prix for Channel 9 in Australia, but his interviews were taken by the BBC (whose commentary C9 took all year around, and Murray covered the practice and qualifying sessions for).

It was Alan Jones who referred to Schumacher as an 'arrogant little Kraut' during the 1995 Australian GP after he was asked what Jean Alesi was thinking when he collided with Schumacher. Jones joined Murray and Dr Jonathan Palmer in the box for that race in a three-man team. Earlier in the season Martin Brundle had joined Murray and Jonathan on occasions as he was sharing his Ligier seat with Aguri Suzuki.

Maybe they have to wait until Steve Jones knows which car is which?

That's good news. I wonder if they've had to pay off ITV for the fact less people will watch their programme and adverts as a result. I know that probably won't be huge especially at that time of night, but still I don't suppose ITV will be thrilled. Or maybe contractually ITV are obliged to show it live, and if not, the organisers are allowed to stream it themselves.

There may be all sorts of things nearly in place that they just can't announce. I wouldn't worry, the silence doesn't mean they're doing nothing.

I think Guy Martin will do the pre recorded VT segments as opposed to the live presenting. Prost/Webber/whoever else could rotate throughout the season. I did hear whispers that Mark Blundell was being lined up for a role but he's always stuck me as a tad dull.

People need to remember just because the Channel 4 team hasn't 'been announced', quite possibly most of the team is done and dusted signing wise, it's just not public. Need some calm

Also Lee McKenzie will do BBC Stuff i'm sure (including Six Nations) but could quite easily be a freelancer and do stuff with Channel 4, just like everyone else that seems to do nowadays.

Not that I think he's going to pop up, just out of interest, but what is Blundell up to these days? Not sitting by the phone waiting for the call, one presumes.

Excellent! Quite a good mix then, and its nice that they've got a good range of presenters.

I'd like to see new Top Gear do more features that the average road user would find relevant, i.e. picking out the most popular 1st time cars & comparing them to see on average what's the best value for money i.e. in terms of say driveability against fuel efficiency etc.

Of course they shouldn't neglect stuff about fast cars too.

You mean like a P1 vs a 488GTB?

Isn't that exactly what C4's Driven did, scoring them out of 100 or whatever?

The idea might have been okay in theory but on TV It quickly became tediously dull and formulaic.
