So thankfully it's not too difficult to sync up for me, although YouTube's live player has a habit of removing any delay you've put in the video every few secs, which is annoying Sadly that's out of RLM's hands of course as it seems to be a quirk with their live player.

I suggested to them on Twitter that they could have a video feed that's literally just the session clock (plus their audio), which would save on bandwidth vs the normal studio-vision channel (As while they route the regular Audio feed through more reliable methods to their website, the youtube feed was going via satellite internet, which was dropping out cos of the rain - if you're just sending video of a clock, rather than a proper webcam feed, then the bandwidth needed can be much lower), for those that just want to sync RLM with the TV feed, but they weren't having any of it :/”

Why don't you just pause the audio player on the RLM website for ten seconds instead?

Both Channel4+1 HD & 4Seven HD are exclusive to Freeview HD, they are not availablethey are on there because Channel 4 decided get involved with the push to promote Freeview HD, and this allowed them to launch extra HD channels without affecting their current ones.

More4 is available in HD, it is not as if they stuck it on a SD only channel like the BBC used to do with practice on the Red Button. So they did dedicate a HD channel to F1.
Just be thankful they showed it at all, it not being HD is hardly the end of the world. Either way some people were not going to be able to watch it in HD.

I think FOM's trackside camera placement is not that ideal this weekend. There are way to many high and wide shots with trees blocking the view on the cars at some locations. And I'm also suprised that there is only one camera on a crane at turn 15. I would have loved to see a ground level camera at this particular spot.

That's a shame, especially after they did such a great job at Canada.

Agreed. None of the angles for T15 do the corner any justice at all. It looks great from an onboard. Some of the trees are getting in the way of the cars from certain angles, too, which is very annoying.

Well that's based on my current connection - tomorrow the delay could be completely different. What i'm going to do is get the Eurosport Feed synced up with the YouTube feed (which I can do thanks to the session clock on the latter), then sync up the Audio feed to the YouTube feed, then turn the youtube feed off, and hopefully I should be good - as the audio feed is less susceptible to cutting out or suddnely jumping ahead than YouTube is.

Didn't Croft say something about one of the cameras not being allowed to pan in a certain direction because it would take in the President's palace, which isn't allowed to be filmed, or something? I'm sure that's not a major issue (although I agree about the wider point of the trackside camera placement not being that great) but it just made my eyes roll...

I understand what you're doing, but typed up it seems very Heath Robinson! Bonne Chance!

Yes. Well like I said, if RLM piped in a video feed of the just the session clock over their more reliable internet over to their website, you'd have a much more reliable syncable source, but you try & suggest that and they throw a hissy fit at you and refuse to even consider constructive criticism then say "We're not a video network"... well that's true but if they ignore the large percentage of users who just want a way to reliably sync up their commentary with the TV feed then that's their own fault. They're getting to be a bit FOM-like, stuck in their ways tbh...

Heck, I *want* them to have a better quality of service! And the studio-vision is excellent, but with tweaks it could be even better! And tbh, a session clock would still be a benefit to a listener who's just hearing the audio stream anyway. (Obviously i'm not saying get rid of studiovision on YouTube in general, its just i've noticed problems when syncing and have a theory of how to get round that - if users are more interested in syncing than actually seeing them in the box)

Of course it would be nice if the ACO could use them as the official commentary team, everyone would prefer that, but sadly I think they're a bit blind to what the fans want as well.

You can't just 'create' another HD channel and put it on air so please stop with the OTT reaction to a practice session being moved to another channel!
Its live, its FTA and you can watch it!

Karun and his cameraman did a great job in the pitlane throughout P1.
Didn't realise about P2 being on More 4 so will have cope with All4 for that which I'm not looking forward to. Teach me to not rely on series link...

Just catching up with FP1, the camera work really is all over the place and it feels odd how the shots vary so wildly around different parts of the circuit.

Signal from the onboards is shockingly bad here.

I noticed how much breakup when watching FP2 on More4
I hope that FOM TV get this sorted before FP3 and Quali, nevermind the race. They need a serious rethink where they're placing the capture boxes for the signal off the cars!
There are alot of tall buildings that will play havoc with it but some decent thought out planning would have avoided it

Shame we cant see the Road to Le Mans race live , unless as was mentioned earlier it may appear on the European LeMans series youtube channel.
Just listening to Brundle discussing it on RLM. Well worth listening to if you missed it.
He mentioned he wants to do a full Le Mans race in next few years in an LMP2, but making time while travelling the world will be tricky to fit it around his sky f1 obligations over the next few years.

Road to Le Mans was a great race.
Nice to see a bit of extra coveage of the pit lane afterwards, nicely crowded and Anthony Davison and all the LMP1 teams doing their photo shoots and Pit babes for many of the teams doing plenty of selfie shots with fans.

Managed to sync up an old iPhone 3gs with the RLM youtube stream and have it Bluetoothed to my Anker a3143 speaker, so can move it all around house for the full 24 hours with the eurosport coverage on the big lounge tv, sky go outside, kitchen, dining room etc.
F1 gets demoted this weekend to sky go iPad viewing.
Now for the staying awake tips, friends have just arrived with food (oooh tons of doughnuts) and drink goodies, also got the dolce gusto ready, just made a big lasagne for tonight and just baking loads of garlic/Focaccia bread to scoff through the night.
Baku now and then Le mans 24 hour party ready

See Damon has arrived and RLM said Martin will be commentating for sky f1 tomorrow...

Surprised at C4 putting a press red interactive prompt out over the adverts in C4F1 to retune to the horseracing on More4 (on freeview at least).

Good to see EJ back, although appreciate some will disagree!
