She could fly to Austria to work for C4 on F1 weekend and then go back to Wimbledon like she did last year for the BBC.

EDIT: Your right, she's tweeted to me confining she will not be at Austria next weekend.

She could, but will depend on who has first dibs in her contracts and as it's not live it might not be worth it.

Not fond of BT's own commentary for the Indycar coverage.

Were not getting all the info from the pit reporters & aren't getting any team radio so have far less idea on whats going on which is frustrating as it seems this that sort of info in terms of pit strategy, tyre wear etc... Is going to be pretty important for this race.

UK commentary does sound boring in comparison to usual US feed. No problem with commentating in the ad breaks but keep he US commentary if at all possible please.

EDIT: Well that was weird - they interrupted their own commentary with an ad-break!! (Felt just like Eurosport for a minute there!!)

Talking of Eurosport, it was another weekend when they ditched live WTCC (it was cycling and superbikes live I think).

They decided to take an adbreak in the middle of the opening lap of the delayed main race coverage. Now, fair enough they did return to the point they left at before the break, but still, come on guys.

So, who's the understudy? In previous years the BBC just shared Jennie Gow (who I recently discovered is a few months pregnant) with 5 live. I doubt they will just have Karun running back and forth from the pits to the pen plus for free practice 2 and 3 they have Karun in the commentary box with Ben and Lee on Pitlane (even though this isn't a live race for Channel 4, it's still done for international broadcasters like Setanta Ireland)
Could we be seeing Susie Wolff in a new role?

Susie Wolff is a long way from being ready to fly solo.

We have not seen Nic Hamilton yet, what is his role? Maybe just the odd feature. He could do the role but could he stay neutral with Lewis aspect.

Thinking about it more, it's probably likely that Tony Dogins will remain with Ben for all 3 practice sessions with Karun in the pits. Qualifying Karun will stay close to the pen in order to catch the drivers post sessions or they might ask another interviewer to hold a C4 mic in the pen and grab sound bites without questions. Race day will probably have Karun hoping no major interest drivers retiring because he'll have to leave the pits to interview them in the pen.

Listeners to 5Live may notice a new face at Austria this weekend:
https://twitter.com/cla_cottingham/s...10357800558593

For those who don't recognise Clare Cottingham, according to her Twitter bio, she is a journalist and reporter for 5Live and BBC South East Today.

Congrats to her! Presumably this is a replacement for Jennie Gow who is working for ITV this weekend but hopefully if she is good she may get more opportunities on the coverage. Attention everyone, a rising star is going up the ranks!

Looking at the ITV and Channel 4 schedules, it looks like they may have made sure there wasn’t an overlap.

On Saturday, the Formula E is on ITV 3pm-5:30pm, and the Formula 1 highlights are on Channel 4 at 5:30pm.
On Sunday, the Formula E is on ITV 3pm-5:45pm, and the Formula 1 highlights are on Channel 4 at 6pm.

Personally I’ll be at the Formula E in London on Sunday (went last year, was a great day out).

Seeing as I'm watching Goodwood FoS on SSF1, a couple of random questions.

Zanardi appeared - did we ever get to the bottom of his issues with Channel 4 and them calling him part of the team when he never agreed to be on it?

What does Tony Jardine get up to nowadays (other than the hill climb commentary)?

I think it was a case of he had talks with them but they never agreed on something but someone jumped the gun and said he was part of the team.
He gave a few interviews to a few publications saying he wasn't part of the team but i don't recall he ever went into why or what happened

What do you mean by "back"? As I remember it Louise Goodman was there for the ITV days and was replaced by Lee Mckenzie when the coverage switched to BBC. What's Hollys background?

She was Natalie Pinkham's predecessor on BBC Radio 5 Live. Her final season was 2010, IIRC, with Pinkham taking over from her in 2011.

Holly was BBC Radio 5 Live's pit lane correspondent, working with David Croft & Anthony Davidson before retiring to spend time with her family. That's how Natalie Pinkham got into F1
