Sky 100% better already with Ant there this weekend, he and Ted on the skypad etc doing some great stuff.

I agree with Ant about the radio rules.

By all means ban the coaching we used to hear with drivers been told where to brake, what gear to be in etc.... But I think drivers should be able to be told how to change settings on the wheel, Especially if its something that helps them fix an issue like Lewis had in Baku.

Having a driver driving around unable to use the full power of the engine spending more time fiddling around with various dials, switches & buttons looking at the LCD display on every straight trying to figure out whats wrong & not actually racing is just silly IMO. I'd rather the team be able to say this is the issue do x/y/x to fix it & then have that car back competitive with a driver able to actually race.

I also just miss having as much team radio communications as we used to hear as I always loved that extra little bit of insight.

What's annoying is that there is still plenty of radio communication, FOM just broadcast even less of it.

Why is Lee on Sunday Brunch instead of in Austria?
OK British GP next weekend, but Austria isn't far away.

However, the Wimbledon organisers are thinking about using Sunday to clear a backlog owing to rain so Lee might have to cancel brunch.

Ted's quick run-down of the pitwall team shelters during the heavy rain in FP2, complete with Croft and Davidson's simultaneous "aaahhh" when they got to Mercedes, was hilarious

Haha! we all did the same too in unison yesterday while watching that.

Great stuff from Ant so far this weekend. What a gem he is.

Anyone know why the press conferences were so sparse with the journalists this weekend?

Possibly because they might be in London for the end of the Formula E season.
To add, Channel 4 coverage for international broadcasters is the same as usual, just substitute Holly for Lee and she's doing quite well, getting in plenty of interviews. Karun spotted the wheel break very early so well done him. Ben mentioned as well that on the Channel 4 highlights programme, Holly will be talking to Sergio Perez about how he got his confidence back from knocking the car in FP3 to putting in the 2nd fastest time in qualifying.

I remember somebody mentioning on here not too long ago about FujiTV doing some stuff at Suzuka with Analog HD back in the 90s, Last night I came across this:
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/00284/...rix-F1-1991-92

And some footage which is taken from it:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2r...s-footage_auto

Over the years FujiTV released a lot of cool F1 things from OnBoard specials to just random trackside montages like that, Shame we never got any of it over here.

Anyone who follows the BBC'S Chequered Flag podcast will know what an irony it would be if Vettel were to win this weekend with Jack Nicholls not even at the race. Jennie Gow even made a dig at that running joke during Chat E last night.

Do enjoy Chat E. Formula e youtube channel is full of good stuff. Jack,Nicki and Dario are great on it. Do wish F1 would do something similar to that.
See formula e has been shoved onto itv today and tomorrow as there is live cycling on itv4, that will have loads saying where has it gone?

It has worked out well that we can watch f1 and then formula e without a clash this weekend. Probably by accident, but good all the same, for those that mentioned too many clashes recently.
Its all viewing with the Formula e app and youtube for me, that has all the practice and qualy, ooops that does clash with a bit of the f1 build up and qualy, but I can cope with multi tasking.

Sky is going to have a very squeezey post session show with GP2 following and all the red flags in qualifying.

Well it's not like they can start GP2 until after F1 qualifying is done. So there'll be enough of a gap for a round up of Qualifying.

Awful coverage from FOM again this week, too many lingering shots of an empty last corner and the end of Q1 watching Haas cars that didn't make it to the line and a boring replay of nothing while cars were trying to set laps.

But they did have some better on-car giving the perception of speed, especially over Vettel's shoulder.

Why have the sky commentators twice today stuck the knife in two drivers backs when their cars came off track before they knew the reason.
And on both counts (Rosberg and Kyvat) it turned out to be mechanical failure not driver error.
"Well that is the end of his career at Torro Rosso"
Seriously?, they hadn't even seen the crash just a car sat against the barrier.
Hope they never get jobs as insurance investigators,

Jennie tweets she's hopeful she'll be back tomorrow.
Being on ITV (1), can the full race be shown without ads?

Just a shame that the uploader has done a crap encode, and that footage isn't even in HD, let alone 60FPS :P

I recall that the 1990 World Cup matches were flimed in analogue HD (the same system - MuSE I think its called) too in a conjunction with RIA and NHK, and those feeds were shown live in cinemas in Italy at least. Whether that's the same footage as the regular TV feeds, or a dedicated feed is unknown - i've been trying to get more info on it but info is scarce - including as to whether the footage still exists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3q2to4EluE

The 1994 Winter Olympics were also filmed in the same manner, some of it (I believe thanks to repeats in Japan over the past few years over a conventional Digital HD TV channel) has surfaced on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmvGHYdCxTM

I soooo long for the day Fuji TV release the footage from Taki Inoue's Rollbar onboard camera during the 1995 Pacific GP weekend! Although Taki has said that Fuji TV and the Japanese media went out of their way to ignore him and "pretend he didn't exist" so highly unlikely we'll ever see it

It was brilliant. Half soaked/half dry circuit forcing them to stay on slicks made for great drama. We can only hope for half that amount of drama in the F1 race tomorrow. Second weekend in a row GP2 have had a co-commentator walk out in the middle of the race! But to be fair to GVG the race was seriously overrunning given the late start and then red flag situation.

Pretty enjoyable Formula E race as well despite (because of??) the world's stupidest racing circuit. There seemed to be a lot less team radio than normal, which is probably not a bad thing as it usually consists of drivers reading out numbers., TV directors who cut to teams in the pits the nanosecond a move happens should be given a different career path.
