Probably a misleading quote from the C4 programe announcer at the start.. 'We go live to Austra for highlights of qualifying for the Austrian GP'

Can't be live as GP3 finished not long ago...

Why have the sky commentators twice today stuck the knife in two drivers backs when their cars came off track before they knew the reason.
And on both counts (Rosberg and Kyvat) it turned out to be mechanical failure not driver error.
"Well that is the end of his career at Torro Rosso"
Seriously?, they hadn't even seen the crash just a car sat against the barrier.
Hope they never get jobs as insurance investigators,
Agreed. I thought that comment from Brundle on Kyvat was appalling when it was suspension failure and even worse for me was Franz Tost being asked and commenting before he'd seen the TV pictures for himself and been able to look fully at what happened! I feel for Kyvat, alot as he is a decent driver and being kicked from pillar to post by idiotic media and Sky especially!

Thought Andy Jaye was pretty good on Formula E today, definitely better than Suzi Perry was on F1. I'd only seen him doing recorded British GT before, has he done much live stuff before.

Formula E had a better day than FOM, intelligent decision to focus on the championship leaders rather than Prost cruising around at the front. As others have said, all feel apart for FOM at the end of Q1.

Something to consider regarding how FOM covered the end of Q1 was that there were yellow flags out & they likely expected that nobody would be able to improve.

Outside of that I think they did a solid job through the rest of qualifying given how quickly things changed with the weather in Q2 & especially as the track dried at the end of Q3.

Think they did a good job with GP2 & GP3 as well.

Speaking of GP2......
Spoiler

More good stuff from gp2 and gp3 this morning.
Jacques called it all out as phenomenal.
Very much enjoyed it all this weekend in some taxing conditions.

You reckon? I don't. Add to that the comms cut out and crackles and a narrow tunnel of steel circuit with no sense of location then it was like watching and hearing Scalextric cars following each other interminably round. Like Baku it may be exciting and interesting to drive or even to watch track-side but on TV it was a total bore-fest.

Random note but I Just spotted a new eSport/Gaming channel on Sky ch.470 (Ginx Esports TV) which has been showing the Formula E Forza gaming stuff all morning.

This audio glitching on Sky is getting quite irritating now.

Ahh, I thought it was my internet connection (which is unlikely tbh) then I realised it wasn't happening on the adverts. I hope it stops for the race though, once they switch to the World feed for the duration...

Quick one on kerb gate yesterday - I thought Brundle was pretty fair before knowing the failures thing. Risk of running wide. Crofty was flying off the theories as per though.

Martin's grid walk was fun and great today! Missed it!

I thought it was just my box. However the glitching is on 407 - SSF1. seems fine on Sky Sports 1

Glad they just acknowledged the sound issues. Watching on my Sky Q Mini box for first time and thought it was playing up..

Simon's just apologised for it on air. Surprising if what you're saying is the case though with it being fine on SS1. Could be a dodgy encoder that's just being used to do the SSF1 channel then.

Have you got the Sky Q Silver package (the 4k one) or the regular Sky Q one? Apparently FOM are thinking about (or Sky want FOM to think about) having a 7.1 audio feed to accompany the 4K feed.

From what i've heard though, it still looks like the 4k & HD feeds will be the same (apart from resolution obviously) in terms of camera angles etc. - so the HD feed will essentially just be (one assumes) a downscale of the 4K feed in that case.

So they'd be shooting everything (or at least outdoor track footage - depends how reliable they can get a 4k camera signal inside pit buildings etc.) in 4K in that case.

I wonder if that means they'd release the season review on 4K blu-ray, now that that format's just launched this year...

I have the silver so all good for 4K whenever it comes. Though I believe it'll only be watchable via the main box not the minis..

That's true, you need their main SkyQ box to watch any 4k content on Sky. It'll be interesting to see whether Sky will let you downscale their 4k channels if you plug in your SkyQ main box into a regular 1080p TV. BT do with their one.

Who was the host? Bit rubbish! She had to look at her cue cards to say 'Thank you for coming'.

Herbert: "Lewis did his typical slipstreaming".

What does that even mean?

Good of Sky to have a quad on-car this time despite the below average choice and the very poor labeling. Having Alonso & Button swapped for many laps would have confused many people that didn't notice the Blue helmet.

It was a struggle, not sure if it was her English or she was nervous with the booing.
Think it was Maria Serrat.
Good race and really enjoyed the last few laps commentary and camerawork.

The booing started as soon as Lewis stepped onto the podium & continued through the National Anthems. Resumed again as soon as he started to speak during the interviews.

Agreed.

Really enjoyed Ant's input during Free Practice. Usually my ears are bleeding after a few hours of Croft.
