Perhaps they could move the on-board to actually sit on / in the halo?
I don't think the camera would be stable enough for that. It has to be affixed to the bodywork of the car.

One of Sky's interactive feeds is showing an OnBoard quad-screen layout but they are not actually making it select-able via the red button or anything.

For everyone criticising the Halo. Saying it's unsafe, the drivers can't get out like Alonso this year, or that it blocks their vision - the drivers have repeatedly said all those criticisms are incorrect. Alonso has specifically said that the Halo wouldn't have hindered him exiting the car in Melbourne...

It should be pointed out that the version on trial today is still a prototype and the teams have said it WILL be sleeker come its introduction. (Personally I'd prefer they tested tje prototypes in secret and only publicly showed off the final version...)

I don't believe Alonso said the halo wouldn't have hindered him getting out of the car, The quote I saw was him saying that it wasn't an issue as he didn't need to rush getting out of the car.

Looking at how his car ended up at Melbourne & looking at halo in its current form, I think there's no way he would have been able to crawl out the car until it had been tipped up the right way by the track workers. Ted Kravitz said during FP1 that Vettel has a bit of a struggle getting out the car & that was when it in the garage under optimal conditions.

That been said I agree that what we have seen thus far is only a prototype made out of solid carbon fibre & that the FIA & teams say the final version will be "sleeker" so we'll have to wait & see.

And it case you missed it MotorsTV is back on 447 on sky
Yes, it was only a temporary technical glitch have heard, being slow off the mark, nothing financial.
The pq with the switch will get a boost too. Still only SD.

Just been trying that on my Linx 1010 windows 10 tablet and works really well, better than using the website and same interface as the iPad/android apps.
Just use it for the timing mostly during the sessions, but the video is better as it feels more integrated into the W10 app than on the iPad/Android where its just a link to the website.
The iPad one crashes quite a lot on iPad2 and on an iPad pro and often does too on Android.
So might just use the W10 one as it so far seems stable.

Why, its nice to see the different approaches and its good broadcasting technical banter which is what many crave and love.

Their last outage, and departure from Freeview T2 & 'connect' was money related. It's very easy to jump to the conclusion of ongoing financial issues. Motors TV really should be communicating technical fault issues better, either with Twitter or on their website.

It's a crying shame that the F1 regs are so restricted, just to keep average lap speeds down. I'm sure some of you would prefer looser technical regulations, in exchange for a slight reduction in the power unit output using something like the WEC 'equivalence of technology' method.

As for the 'halo' - we still race early 1960's F1 cars today, there are no complaints that they are fitted with a rollcage over the cockpit.

Caterham 7 Supersport with rollcage cameras at Snetterton.

The holding company has got massive financial issues in France and have entered into a protection order but they have ended their English-language feed as a way to try and drastically reduce costs and survive.
In the UK, its dead

Just been watching the Lotus Cup Europe on Motors tv and some are open and have a rollcage, pretty similar cage to the Caterhams, they look fine and the onboards through it work well too.

Vettel has said that visibility wasn't great with the halo on the car:

I think part of the issue with 'halo' is that it isn't a serious name. 'Cockpit roll cage', or 'cockpit protection structure' would give it more credibility.

Do always enjoy the Inside Grand Prix programme on Motors TV.
A good mix of F1 technology, interviews, history and the current season.
This week's was very good, even the 'how great Bernie has been to F1' piece.
Not sure who is behind it, but well worth watching if you do not watch.

Is there any way to transfer or share my Android purchase with the W10 version? I know there was talk of this before but didn't hear anything further.

I could give out about eircom (Irelands version of BT and owners of Setanta (now eirsport) because they just put my broadband/phone bill up by €7, but they also gave me access to eirsport and BTSport on my Sky box so I now get Indycar and NASCAR legitimately - in HD too - woohoo!!

I've got the W10 version on mobile, haven't paid for F1 Access but if I follow the link in the menu that says "Upgrade to F1 Access" I get the option to "Sign in or register" or "Purchase F1 Access" so if you have a username/password give that a try and see if it works. If not maybe try signing in or registering on Android, then maybe it will associate the purchase with your F1 account and let it be shared after that.

Tried that - Wanted my credit card details to enable access. Love the app but not enough to pay twice!

Murray Walker looking well on C4 earlier in a great piece with Freddie Hunt.

Crofty took 30 secs or so to shoehorn in "uninterrupted hour" patter.

Thought the music was rather intrusive in the Freddie/Murray film.

Sky eager to point out everyone that put 4 wheels over the white line except Hamilton who went off twice on his fastest Q2 lap & went off further than some of the others they kept mentioning.

They've just mentioned it is passing and have seemingly dropped the whole issue now... despite practically asking for Magnussen to be hung, drawn and quartered for the same thing.
