I've put all the races up on Youtube including the Silverstone one:
Yes big thanks for that. I remember enjoying the first race, probably missing the second, and Silverstone was a bit of a wash out. After that it just seemed to fizzle out and never heard any more.

I do remember thinking how great looking the cars were.

It was revealed in this thread I believe, that Mansell demanded a more powerful engine than everyone else in order to participate - and he got it.

Yeah I've heard that before, I have also seen it suggested that his car was a bit lighter than others.

I put an old National Geographic program about the building of the infield road circuit at Indy on Youtube earlier but for some reason the aspect ratio has been switched during Youtube's processing & helpfully they have removed the tag's you used to be able to use to fix it (They have been removing/breaking a lot of stuff in there API's & other app's lately), But here it is anyway.

I got a few other stuff i'd like to upload but after some recent issues with my line while my download speed has returned to 18meg the upload speed has dropped from 1.3meg to 700kbps so it takes a bit longer than it used to & totally kills my connection in terms of doing anything else so I have to be a bit more picky in when & how long I have to upload stuff. I really wish I could afford fibre, Think you get like 10-20meg upload on that which would be sweet?

Also does anyone happen to have kept a list of all the classic races Sky have shown over the past few years?

What's the actual resolution of that video? Is it in 4:3 - with flags to tell the player to stretch it to 16:9? It's possible that YouTube may not support such things anymore. You could always re-encode it to a true 16:9 resolution before uploading first.

It's already encoded at a true 16:9 resolution (854x480 Which is what Youtube recommends & what I encode all my 16:9 videos to) & on everything on my system it plays in 16:9, I uploaded it twice & it seems to be something Youtube is doing during processing thats changing it.

Not done anything differently compared to other things i've uploaded so i'm guessing its just some weird youtube glitch with that particular video for whatever reason.

They used to have a tag you could add which would stretch/crop videos to the correct aspect ratio but they seem to have got rid of that fairly recently.

Is the PAR 1:1
If not, that would be why YT is, during the processing, setting it to 4:3

that's NTSC resolution though, so if your original video comes from a PAL source, you're just reducing the size for no reason at all. personally I just upload my raw video & let youtube resize it to whatever it wants to. It's odd given that youtube supports PAL frame-rates (25 & 50), yet still doesn't support SD PAL resolutions (1024x576 or 768x576)...

You just answered your own question!!!!!!!
If YT doesn't have the option for 576i or p, then changing it to one higher or lower to fit one that does makes sense and is what you do!!!..........

Lol if you upload a video to YouTube not in that resolution. It will convert it for you... There's no need to alter your own copy to fit beforehand is what I'm saying...

If you upload a 576 video, it will downscale it to a 480 video itself, there's no need for you to downscale it by yourself beforehand, you're just wasting time & downscaling unnecessarily.

Sky Sports Mix has appeared on the Sky EPG at 407, bumping Sky Sports F1 to 408.

Speaking of Sky Sports Mix, both the Spa qualifying and race will be shown on there - so if there are any Sky subscribers with no Sky Sports or Legacy HD subscription, and who want to see what Sky's F1 output is like, then they will be able to. Although Channel 4 are live that weekend anyway, as I don't think Sky will be making their exclusive races more widely available.

Sky should do that in 2018 as a teaser for F1 in 2019

Sky Sports Mix will also be showing qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix and the build-up to the race (but not the race).
It was to be expected that the races shown on there will be the ones that are broadcast live by Channel 4.

So someone without access to F1 will watch qualifying and the race build up, then just before the lights go out, they'll be told to phone up to get access to Sky Sports, they'll be on the phone til just before the race ends

Not really the way to win customers. I'd have thought that most people who want to watch F1 live all the time will already be accessing it somehow

Are these simulcasts on Sky Sports Mix going to be instead of simulcasting on SS1, or are they going to go completely silly and show it on all three...?

Knowing Sky, expect the latter!
With maybe even a simulcast on Sky1 just to make it 4....

Ed Leigh's been busy: http://www.formula1.com/en/video/201...1_marshal.html

Nice video on the website with some GP3 footage surprisingly! Never seen that on an official F1 video before...

Thanks, I'm unable to receive Sky, that's why I had to ask.

I bet Sky are looking to extend their rights deal before any Liberty takeover

No.
Liberty Global owns Virgin Media, this is Liberty Media, a seperate company, although both are owned by John Malone.

Doesn't seem like the British MotoGP weekend will be shown in Ultra HD (4K) this year. A bit of a shame, but the latest BT Sport 4K UHD advert does showcase MotoGP (Not the 'September On BT Sport 4K UHD ad) so it seems like we may MotoGP on BT Sport 4K UHD next year.
