So Bernie says No.
The press are just having fun!

The DNA of the sport has been steadily eroded for a number of years now, so the new owners will have to do well to increase the pace of erosion

IMO the DNA of the sport is racing series consisting of open-wheel cars (each team entering the same number of cars) racing across a mixture of purpose-built & street tracks, the order of which is set via 1 or more qualifying sessions, with the pole position on the grid the result of the fastest time set during qualifying.

There should be a championship for drivers, and for constructors based on the results of those races.

Each chassis should be unique per that team on the grid, whomever the constructor
is.

The specification of the cars' engines, as well as their power output & source of power, as well as anything extra like DRS or ERS IMO is irrelevant.

The DNA of the sport is IMO essentially open-wheel cars of a varying design per team racing in a single class with the starting grid order based upon essentially the best one-lap performance of those cars.

Looks like we are stuck with the tower at the bottom right at the moment rather than the ticker at the lower thirds..

EDIT: And it's back up.

Interestingly, Liberty Media (or Global) (one of them is buying F1) also owns Formula E. The article doesn't say whether it'll be live or highlights though.

Would assume it's live, think highlights will still be BT.

FE to be F1 support race?

Wonder if Channel 5 will employ an analysis team or just air the World feed coverage.

Would have thought they would add some of their own coverage. I think they will still use the World Feed team for the race itself, don't know who will be commentating for the WF yet..

Can't see them break up Nichols and Franchitti.

As long as Formula E keep the app as it is and the world feed three of Jack, Dario and Nicki, then could not care about it being on a linear channel.
Never saw the point of the itv presentation team, and it was bad.
The app with all its onboards, video and its casting ability when needed is excellent and the best way to view for me.

Apart from another rush for the corner, a pretty poor race.
Real shame that Ant has not been around for a while, Paul is ok but Ant does take it onto a different plane. Really found the analysis missing a lot this weekend.
Just so bored with the daft podium driver questions. Eddie Jordan always makes a mess of it.
Like Rosberg did there, let the drivers just enjoy and control it.
Wish they would just go back to doing the three drivers conference and broadcasting it like they used to.

Liberty Global has a minority stake in Formula E.
Amura, Qualcomm and Banuelos are the real owners.

Not unless they add a couple chicanes/slow corners & shorten every circuit.

One of the primary reasons Formula E races on the types of circuits it does with the layouts they run is because of where the technology is right now. They need a lot of slow corners with long brake zones to help with the regen (Which is why they tend to have a lot of silly tight chicanes) & they tend to run shorter laps so they can get more lap over the hour the races usually last.

I also recall reading back around the Formula E season 1 launch that because of where the performance of the cars/technology is right now they are avoiding running any circuits that could draw a lap-time comparison with other categories.

With Jack committed to Five Live, he won't be able to do the full Formula E season.

A bit more background on the F1 Liberty takeover, sums it all up nicely.
http://news.sky.com/story/carey-to-t...-line-10565003

For Bernie, he gets some pocket money from the deal;
Quote:
“The takeover will yield a windfall worth more than $400m (£301m) for Mr Ecclestone, who owns a 5.3% stake in F1, as well as more than $650m (£489m) for Bambino Holdings, his family's trust.
The estate of Lehman Brothers, the investment bank whose collapse in 2008 triggered parts of the ensuing global financial crisis, stands to receive more than $1bn (£752m) from F1's sale.”

Not sure I agree with this though;
Quote:
“In sporting terms, F1 ... endured a difficult start to 2016 amid controversy over the format used for race-qualifying.
However, a topsy-turvy battle at the top of the drivers' championship featuring the Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg has stoked renewed interest in this year's series.”

Love the 360 degree cameras on the MotoGP bikes today, graphics and directions are excellent as always, they were very quick to show a 'Last Suzuki Win' at the finish of the race.

Nice to see the sport providing an article about its on-board cameras...

According to the ex-FOM employee on F1 Fanatic:
Quote:
“I’d be very, very careful what you wish for because from what i’ve heard from people regarding the guy who will become the primary owner (Chase Carey) will be pushing very heavily to go in the entertainment direction & will have no problems at all pushing through as many gimmicks as he see’s necessary (Seems he is a fan of having 2-3 shorter races over a weekend rather than the traditional single GP).

I’ve also seen a report suggesting he wants to add as many as 25 races in order to maximize early revenue streams & make back what there spending as quickly as possible.”

He already juggled a couple of other races earlier this year. In one case he had a sub in Long Beach and in another Tom Clarkson subbed for him while he was covering the London finale.

His calendar is looking rather non-electric at the moment... though that could simply be down to it not being updated since the FE schedule was confirmed.

They did a pretty good article/video feature last year celebrating 30 years since the 1st OnBoard camera was put on a MotoGp bike during a race:

What did he commentate on at Rio?
I watch Blancpain and cannot say I've ever noticed that he provided commentary on that.

He does it in the weeks when Addison is busy. I think he used to be in the pit lane before they decided they needed a woman there.
