Liberty are merely 'testing the waters' at the moment. If some fans think an idea is worth trying it might get the green light.

Hope 1 or 2 more are joining the likes of Popeye13 and I on the beer, cigar and feet up due to the sheer peace of muting FOM Fan, which means far less of that patter!

For the love of god - read what you just wrote.

Liberty are proposing changes. Fans blame Liberty.
Bernie proposed changes. Fans blamed Bernie.
CVC didn't propose changes (as they just sat back and left Bernie to it). Unsurprisingly, fans did not blame CVC.

Why on earth would fans blame CVC when it was Bernie making the decisions ?

I may only lurk here, but boy do you make it hard sometimes. Ever heard of "less is more" ? .....

/me also looks for mute button.

Plenty of fans blamed CVC for being a vampiric faceless entity that sucked the life and money out of the sport whilst not doing anything remotely visible to improve the sport. Let's be honest, most stuff Bernie did was for their benefit.

Donald Mackenzie had the temerity to question why people didn't like CVC but when push came to shove he couldn't actually clarify what it was CVC had been doing to improve the sport. Probably the fact that very few fans would actually recognise Donald Mackenzie - just about the only CVC name anyone ever knew - if he came round and smacked them upside the head, probably tells you all you need to know about CVC's tenure.

On the contrary I've not seen much negativity round Liberty - mainly on the basis of "how can they be any worse than CVC?" More races probably won't go down well as we're close to saturation already, but apart from that they've not actually said that much. Sure, we can all shit our pants about the 3-reverse-grids-per-weekend-with-blue-shell format they're allegedly going to implement (well, maybe not the blue shell), but until they announce what they're actually going to do I don't think anyone's really frothing at the mouth yet.

Don't blame you.

You can get a ban for speaking the truth on here, it only needs someone to disagree and you're given a complimentary holiday.

Dear God, what has happened to this place?

It has turned into one guy's personal playground. Shame.

Well at least YOU'RE still here !!!
Ok, so here's something else instead.

As some of you may or may not know I am a friend and fan of Simon Pagenaud's mother Sylvie. She is a wonderful choreographer of jazz and modern dance In 2011 we worked together in Strasbourg on her production of a piece called Errances Urbaines.

Now Indycar has put up a nice article on her and her family that kind of shows how her resolve and tranquil manner partly lead to creating the 2016 champ's approach to his craft.

Channel 4 have given over a 3 hour 45 minutes slot to F1 for live coverage but only a 2 hour 40 minutes slot for the replay.
Presumably a lot of the pre and post race features will be condensed if shown at all and the race will be sprinkled with adverts?

Why don't Sky show their pre-race build up in repeats either? If you miss say Martin's grid walk at the time or your recording doesn't record or whatever, you don't have the opportunity to see it again... just the race itself, which is edited to start from the very beginning and finish pretty much straight after it ends.

Rare use of a broadcaster-specific segment here from FOM (Murry doing a peice to camera for ITV) in this archive clip. They've tended to avoid those: http://www.formula1.com/en/video/201...rand_Prix.html

Don't know - have you tried asking them?

You've reminded me of the time I watched Matthew Bourne's 'Play Without Words' at the National Theatre in London, twelve years ago. I was totally dumbfounded that the title of the show was to be taken literally. Being a young ignorant student, I had unwittingly watched a performance of contemporary ballet.

It's not like they have a dedicated channel or anything which sits empty for most of the day where they could squeeze in a full as-live re-run.

Seriously though, F1 is quite lucky that it even gets re-runs of the race itself. Sky seemed to have dispensed with the re-runs/extended highlights of sport that was shown live earlier for most other things altogether in favour of endless showings of the same handful of 'classic' sporting events and documentary fillers.

If you can let me know where to direct my enquiries there is no end of stuff I could put to them!

That, and an assurance that I wouldn't be wasting my time.

Understand...

Oh yeah, I forgot I wanted to post these interviews with Zac Brown here.
He's one of my favorite racing brains when it comes to marketing.

It's interesting that he mentions documentaries etc. when FOM are releasing one on Blu-Ray in a few weeks. Given that Peter Windsor has had some experience working with FOM on the website & app videos - you'd think he would chip in more with what's done currently.

Yes I know it's (as usual with FOM & digital media) too late, but it's better than nothing. As usuall though it will have zero promotion & no-one will even know it's released apart from the few who happen to visit Duke's website regularly.

Ok I know this response is really late, but in the rerun they'll likely do a recap of quali, a few quick grid interviews maybe from the live pre race earlier in the day, then go into the race and mainly focus on interviews post race. There likely will be adverts (there was for Australia rerun) but I can see why the rerun time is shorter. Not sure if the BBC ever did a full programme rerun but I doubt it, and there's little need to in my view. The main thing with a rerun I'd imagine is the race.

Also looking back at Singapore, I was looking through the highlights channel stuff the other day & at one point FOM used a digital zoom on Hamilton's OnBoard to highlight an error that was flashing up on his wheel display. Don't believe they have done that before & don't recall it been used on the world-feed.

I really wish Sky would give us access to that highlights channel, Some nice stuff on there sometimes.

I *think* they also used that clip with the zoom on one of their app/website vids - not 100% certain though. I hope at the very least FOM do more to standardise access to the extra feeds worldwide, currently it's all at the whim of the broadcaster & what they want to take.

Thanks stevvy but Australia was a highlights race, not shown live.
