I thought the customisable split screen was great

Looks like we are going to see a revamped Formula E world feed graphics going by the latest YouTube videos they have posted. New intro as well, more of real cars, less of CGI.
Indeed, all change on the world feed graphics-wise - I think they finally realised the old font was far too difficult to read.

Did we know Martin Haven was taking over lead comms when Nicholls has an F1 clash?

Oooh live interviews! Johnny Herbert doing it as well, seems like more working together between FOM and Sky.
Was good. Herbert channelled his inner Davina a bit, but nice to see some new thinking.

Facebook, no thanks.
On youtube the simulator e race looks exactly the same to me.
If you compare that with Berlin last season, still white, greeny blue and white.

I was just waiting for the "...do not say **** or ******" line from Bo' Selecta

Interesting to hear that live, but I guess you're unlikely to get this kind of thing from the pole position driver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-zEnO_KwDg (warning: sweary)

Agree, it is happening a lot this weekend showing the crowd and the nobodies in the pits watching a screen or looking bored.
I bet it will be ten times worse for race day, going by last weekend

That does look interesting, though I think it would be better if they had the option for the main feed to take the majority of the screen, and then the second feed be smaller off to the side - like when Sky play in an interview over the world feed.

Looks like we might not see cars restarting themselves on the grid like in Malaysia any more, at least until the start has been officially aborted; drivers have been reminded they need to keep waving "frantically" if the car is stalled, so they won't have their hands free to do the MGU-K start.

http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/fi...-stall-835935/

Probably for the best with a grid start, to be honest.

Like PIP then.
It works very well and easy to switch streams.
Perhaps, later they could do 4 up like Dish are doing now;

The c5 preview show was good, it was an all Formula e production, did not see anything from C5.

So no London race then and I see Jaguar have a team.
They still have fan boost, why oh why!
They made a point about the street tracks being good for fans, but I feel they do not work well often for tv.
Still the same old half race battery. Would be better if they had a hybrid without the battery change and making the cars a bit faster.

Still, its fun close racing and something a bit different than the norm and plenty of innovation, like some of it or not.
Also, that is the way to do a drivers press conference.

Chat E is live now on the app and youtube.
We have Nicki, Martin and Dario fronting it, with Alan McLeish, excellent stuff. F1 take note.

Johnny works for FOM doing Driver parade, I suspect this is a FOM initiative as part of the World feed and nothing to do with Sky. Maybe the first influence from Liberty?

Having said that, I think the whole delayed start procedure this weekend confused everyone and it might not have been said at all. I know Edwards didn't say anything until after the cars had got going.
Indeed, although Croft still pushed in the phrase, Ben jumped straight in to describing the action once they realised the cars were racing.

Interestingly, there were no changes to the commentary in the race replay but Channel 4 spliced in the catchphrase when showing the race highlights at the start of this weekend's qualifying show.

Reminds me a bit of the old post-race BBC F1 forum. Noticed the 'pre-roll' Youtube advert was for the Channel 5 coverage.

Channel 5 traditionally show motorsport without the 'wrapping' of pre/post-race shows.

That piece with Damon Hill & Adrian Newey looking back at the 1996 season feels like it should be more than the short 2 piece pre-quali/race feature that its going to be.

Have to say though that I've felt the same about quite a few of these short pre-race features that Sky have shown over the past few years. A lot of them really could/should be full programs or at the very least be put online in a full or extended forms.
If only Sky had a dedicated F1 channel to show such things during the week. Oh, wait...

The real weak point for me in an otherwise entertaining and light-relief-to-F1 series is the calendar.

6 months to do 4 rounds, including a gap of more than 3 months between R2 and R3, and then the last 8 races all crammed in within 10 weeks. How does that generate any momentum? It's their third season and the calendar is still as crazily lop-sided as ever, indeed even worse than season 2 I think as from memory there was a race in Uruguay in December to fill the winter months gap.

If the aim is to race in some different timesand take advantage of the lack of competition from other single seater serie then it's not really working - might as well start the season in February and run it regularly and reliably till August or suchlike.

I'll gloss over the additions of managing to clash the series opener with F1 (unless they're hoping to lure in some F1 fans flicking over from the Japanese GP), and potentially losing most of their biggest names to the WEC round on the same weekend as their NYC round.

Why not use the flashing pit limiter light in this situation?

I think they might be shipping their cars by sea freight to cut costs. I think the WEC has a similar arrangement.

Not a big fan of the new Formula E TV graphics. I think they are a bit generic and bland.
