FOM seemed to tone down the shots of the fans in the crowd today. They were still there, but not as much as earlier in the weekend.

Wonder why we didn't get a Gridwalk on Sky today?

The new Formula E graphics are very Eurovision. Speaking of which, are we all expecting C5 to run uninterrupted coverage for a full two hours without ad breaks? I'd be surprised if it happened.

If they do have Ad-breaks i'll just switch to watching it online as I really don't feel ad-breaks would work with FE.

The Youtube stream is Geo-Blocked in the UK but that's easy to get round, plus the url's for the streams they used to have on the website work fine (I use VLC to play them).

So Channel 5 aren't just taking the raw feed at all, Nicki Shields introducing a feature with a Channel 5 mic. The link must have been pre-recorded though..

Weird there was no gridwalk.
The sky sports iPad app f1 interactive stuff did not appear till later in the race, so had to use the sky red button today.
There were not many on boards this weekend either.

Formula E and the first set of adverts are all for kiddies toys. Is it normally kid time on channel five at this time or did no advertisers want the spot?.

Just had an ad break - with kids ads in it, presumably bought as part of the Milkshake block.

Interestingly we seem to have dipped out of the world feed briefly; Nicki Shields came back out of the break with a 5-branded piece to camera complete with 5 mic shield, and there have been a couple more since.

Good explainer at the start of the programme for newcomers to the sport, I thought.

Normally Milkshake airs this time on a Sunday.

Nicki did some exclusive links for ITV as well, she would credit Jennie Gow as well.

Don't like the virtual grid graphics..

VLC is an interesting way to watch.
Watching on an iPad Pro and other tablet with the official app.
If you use the latest Opera browser, it has an inbuilt VPN, simple to use and works a treat, no geo blocking.

For all the shots of the super-passionate fans, many of those grandstands looked a bit empty. Must be a bit concerning if even one of the most passionate crowds isn't exactly threatening to fill up the capacity?

BTW, I quite like the new FE graphics (although they seem to have lost the battery charge level from the tower, which is annoying - edit - they've added it back in, good!) and the new front wing looks good from the outboard shots though takes a bit of adjusting to on the onboards...

Edit 2 - the graphics are well glitchy.

The FE graphics are different, and colourful. Not sure why they bother with those team colours.
On a big tv screen tv the white on blue (percentage) is easy to read and on a larger tablet.
But not so easy on a smaller 7 inch or less tablet.

Some errors with batery graphics when they turn red, the numbers go crazy!

Just seem to be a jumbled load of numbers.
Safety car graphic is a yucky green, when the flags are the normal yellow.
Loving the look of these cars this year.

Martin has done well with Dario. Not sure if its the close racing that makes good interesting commentary with FE.

Don't think the Formula E commentary is good at all, constant misidentification of Abt and DiGrassi, thinking Abt had lost two rear wings when he was still in his first car, thinking Bird might get out ahead of Buemi when Buemi had already long-since gone past the pits. martin also suggested that they could use fan boost to set the fastest lap. It's not as bad as David Croft was today, but it's not good.

They're not helped by the TV direction, which has made following the race a bit more difficult than it ought to be.

Taking an adbreak literally the second after the winner crosses the line...lol

Seriously.... An ad-break a second after the winner crosses the line, we didn't even seen the rest of the lot crossing the line, Channel 5 must be really worried about advertising revenue after going ad-free for all the race.

EDIT: ANOTHER ad-break 7 minutes later...

Virtually no OnBoard's through that Formula E race & the 4 OnBoard streams was only showing pointless rear facing shots from cars with nobody behind them.

Channel 5 seem to have 'paused' the live feed during that ad-break.

mid podium ad break. really!!!

And now Channel 5 cut from the podium celebrations to show a competition... I like them showing the race ad-free but this is seriously a p*** take after just 1 race..

All the kids under six that were watching it would have loved the ads!

For all that FE is, still want them to ditch the fan boost. But its a good fun watch, but not to be taken seriously. You just spend yourself smiling and laughing at it all.
Now we have to wait for a maybe race in November, or the next one mid February. The calendar for FE is hopeless.

Sky seem to have decided that series linking the F1 means you want the live broadcast and the same-day repeat. Genius. I'm sure that's going to cause some unnecessary clashes for people.

FOM once again cutting to crowd/pit shots just as potential overtakes or re-passes were building up. Not as bad as last week but it's still ludicrous. "Here's how to feel about the race, as you're probably too thick to work it out yourself."

Formula E onboards are hilariously bad this year, all the moving part of the shot is just a blurry mess of MPEG artifacts showing massive bitrate starvation, I don't remember that last year. Huge signal break-up on the run down of the grid before the start.

Agree the FanBoost needs to die a death, or maybe the FIA need to step in and say it can't be called a genuine sport with that piece of unfairness built in.

Absolutely hair-trigger reaction for Channel 5 starting the ad-break at the end of the race!

Martin Haven seems to be doing all he can to defend Channel 5 on Twitter.

It's silly isn't it? I don't care about broadcasters having to show this amount of adverts in this amount of minutes at this certain time, I'm more interested in seeing all the cars cross the line rather than cutting to break the moment the winner crosses the line so we can keep OFCOM, regulators and our adversing revenue for kids adverts happy and chappy!
