He must hsve recieved an advance copy then? I thought it wasn't out til the end of October?
tbh though Keith has odd opinions of what he likes in a review. I personally like to see something (at least with a season review) different from what's on the telly. I don't want to hear the original TV commentary cos I would have already heard it when watching it anyway.
Keith also dislikes "present tense" commentary, yet I feel it makes the footage sound more exciting.
He's also (going from his reviews of the 2000 & 2001 reviews) not a fan of adding stuff like music etc. to highten the drama. Now I don't like it when its actually over the racing (although from Keith's review it sounds like it is tbh, which isn't good), but if its like an end-of-segment clip over some nice slomo shots synced up, I think it adds to it personally.
As always with his reviews, you get a sense that he's got a grudge to bear like bringing up Bianchi (where he says Liuzzi his the tractor 'the way Jules Bianchi did') where its frankly irrelevant. Given that certain parties are currently embroiled in a legal battle, no wonder they're not going to put that footage in... I'd be more surprised if they did tbh - although IMO the similarities are practically non-existant.
It's interesting that he says there's hardly any unseen angles, especially as he specifically mentions the 1994 pit fire, when D.M.N. talked with someone on Twitter who specifically said there WAS unseen footage of that incident on the disc. Obviously the whole review can't be ENTIRELY unseen footage, because that would probably look very odd.
It's interesting how he says further down that: "There’s no theme connecting the selection of races so the film lurches randomly from one to the next." Yet at the top he says: "The concept behind it is simple: ten drivers tell the story of notable moments from their careers."
But as usual I suspect it will be a pretty generic affair as has been the case with FOM's reviews over the past few years & so I don't disagree with Keith on that point.
What would be nice is if FOM could come to some agreement with Sky to put the full length 'Legends of F1' & 'Architects of F1' programmes on Blu-Ray or streaming. Sell that along with some more exclusive stuff and you'd be on to a winner...
