Rons out the door.
And McLaren go back to being a shambles yet again with petty boardroom bullshit.
They focus more on that than the car and development and then wonder why they've not won a race or a title in how many years now!?
Fighting like they have to get Ron out the door shows where their priorities lay and it damn sure isn't the F1 team

It's basically a big corporation with some toys that come out to play at the Weekend to race against the toys of other big Corporations. Remember what Bernie said last weekend about just being a used car salesman - F1 has changed beyond recognition since then. The boardroom rules.

The boardroom stupidity and pettiness at McLaren has killed that team. Its a shell of its former self and they obviously haven't learnt from the past times they've done this.
Such a shame too with the historic place McLaren has in the sport.

It really shouldn't surprise anybody, considering what happened in the UK, but there are strong rumors that F1 is going exclusively to Sky in Italy as well from 2018. 80 million dollars per year is the offer rumored to take exclusive F1 rights.

Direct to viewer from FOM (Liberty) cant come soon enough. Sadly, looks like the proposal is for US market only.

ps Hows Vegas?

Given that the race went on for so long I recorded a whole bunch of the programmes scheduled on Sky F1 after the race to make sure I didn't miss any of their coverage that spilled over.

They decided to show Ted's Notebook from Russia 2015 directly after the live coverage finished as filler to re-align the programme scheduling. That completely threw me, as it was on when I switched on later that evening and I naturally assumed it was live and this weekend's notebook. Perez finished third in that race and I saw his father with a 'P3 Perez' pitboard which made me think Verstappen had been penalised and demoted after the race for his move on Vettel or something stupid like that.

Of all the things to show, why would they stick on the Russian GP notebook from last season? They must have literally picked something at random. I can't have been the only one to have been caught out by this...

Any more news on F1 in the UK in 2019 after Sky Sports having all of the broadcasting rights to it?

^Not heard anything, but you've also got to factor in the new ownership. Do they want to keep an FTA presence or are they happy with solely PPV?

Motorsport Network has acquired Motors TV.

PRESS RELEASE

Motorsport Network acquires Motors TV
Creating a TV Anywhere home for performance motoring and motorsport

November 18, 2016, Miami, FL. Motorsport Network today announced the acquisition of Motors TV, consolidating the world’s largest automotive & motorsport digital technology business with a global broadcast operation.

The acquisition of the broadcaster that reaches more than 30 million homes with 130 rights agreements and 700 live events annually will become the backbone of Motorsport.tv, a performance motoring and motorsport OTT video broadcast network.

“Today’s news to expand our commitment to automotive from the global digital presence we are building with Motor1.com and our digital motorsport estate including Motorsport.com and Autosport.com into the broadcast arena is a bold step to build a genuinely integrated platform across small and large screen alike. The investment will enable us to create the very first dedicated broadcast ‘home’ in our expert areas of performance motoring and motorsport", said Zak Brown, Motorsport.com’s Chairman.

Motors TV will be absorbed into Motorsport.tv and provide fans with new original programming formats spanning performance road car content to the live telecast of premier World Championship motorsport. The revised and expanded service will graduate to full HD status in March 2017 and aside from enriching the scope of programming and enhancing the broadcast format, fans will be able to access the home of performance motoring and motorsport via a wide array of platforms from desktop, mobile, tablet, streaming devices, gaming consoles, connected televisions to set-top devices such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire & Roku.

“We have a simple three point mission to deliver new content in better quality available everywhere at any time. This agreement cements these ambitions and Motorsport Network’s huge digital community from Motorsport.com to Autosport.com and Motor1.com will be able to access this enriched service seamlessly. Motorsport.tv will bring road car and racing fans as well as advertisers together in a home for motoring & motorsport in a fashion that has never previously existed,” said Jean-Luc Roy, Motors TV’s Founder.

Motors TV was founded in 2000 and today operates five international feeds in six languages originating in France, the UK, North & Latin America and an international feed. 2017 will mark its transition from traditional linear broadcasting to a Video on Demand (VOD) service with the launch of Motorsport.tv’s new digital platform.

The acquisition of Motors TV follows the recent purchase of Autosport and F1 Racing and is the next stage in fusing the dynamic culture of Motorsport Network with the heritage and provenance of Autosport. The addition of the broadcast capability of Motors TV will deliver a 3600 digitally-connected approach to fuse the passion points of cars, bikes and racing with a global legion of fans.

No news - although rumours of alternative streaming formats being available. It's a possibility for the UK but depends how watertight the contract is with Sky - wouldn't be overly surprised to a see a mobile only stream directly from FOM. It was mentioned in an interview that streaming on screens lower than 7 inches didn't affect the overall TV audience.

What does that mean? No more TV channel MotorsTV? Just some online videos on demand. The kind of thing like inside GP that is on motorsport.com already is not something to get excited about.

Programming about road cars does not interest me, unless it's a program by clarkson, hammond and may.

They didn't say anything about live coverage tbh.

But Motors just won't be available as a TV channel.

No reason why they can't offer such content as a live stream. Certainly they'd then be able to show more than 1 live event. Or they may just dump the live racing entirely.

Does anyone know if Eurosport have exclusive rights to WEC from 2017? I know they will still have exclusive coverage of the Le Mans 24h race but the press release doesn't make it clear whether they will have exclusive live rights to the rest of the season and will they broadcast the races live in full.

Eurosport has been a long standing rights holder of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, offering motorsport fans live coverage, behind-the-scenes footage and track-side interviews. Under the new agreement, the broadcaster will continue to offer full coverage of the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as live coverage from each of the remaining eight rounds of the WEC.
If so, I wonder if the Motors TV purchase may have influenced this. It will be a bit of a shame to see just 1 hour of live WEC on regular TV if the rights are the same as the current one.

Well we'll still have the WEC app at least.

Eurosport has non-exclusive rights to the WEC, but also has an obligation to show the WEC. This is to prevent Eurosport (or any other broadcaster) buying the rights so that they can show the prestigious and commercially attractive Le Mans race, and then ignoring the WEC races. Though of course Eurosport's WEC coverage does tend to be on the Eurosport player only until the final hour.

Eurosport's decision to extend their contract with the ACO will have been influenced by the purchase of Motors by Mike Zoi. Motorsport.com is already the "official website" of the WEC (a deal with basically allows them a bit of trackside advertising in exchange for handing over a big pile of cash). Eurosport will have been very keen to tie up the rights as far into the future as possible before the sale went through.

The concern for UK motorsport fans now is that the three biggest motorsport websites, three of the four magazines and the only dedicated motorsport TV channel are all owned by the same company. And that company is also bidding to buy Silverstone, and its chairman has been linked with taking over from Bernie. That cannot be healthy.

Just been watching the bike race and the commentary is a few seconds behind the action - when they even bother actually commenting on the race in front of them that is.

There seems to be a new show on TalkSport 2 on Wednesday called 'The Grand Prix' show with Rachael Brookes and Johnny Herbert presenting. It's a preview of the Abu Dhabi apparently which is going out at 10:00pm that evening.

I've noticed that there's an official list of Livestreams here (they all basically link to this one: https://livestream.com/accounts/20341220/events/6649403) Also their own PDF neglects to mention that there's also a live stream on their own website: http://www.macau.grandprix.gov.mo/gp...ex.php?lang=en

Although i've yet to visit it when its on air, so I don't know if it has English or chinese commentary (if at all). And it might be the same one as the 1st link too.

And of course BT Sport 3 are showing the bikes, F3 & GT stuff live, but again i'm not sure whether they're taking the world feed commentary or using their own team.

Anyone else getting the annoying, flickering black screen when trying to watch WEC on Motors TV? It's making it unwatchable.
