Yep Motors TV picture keeps going black, happened during the adverts too so I don't think it's an issue with their feed from Bahrain.

Losing the sound now too and the picture for longer, not really watchable at the moment. Oh well Eurosport have it from 4pm.

Motors TV seems to be ok now

I see MotorsTV have been taken over. The new owners are promising access via various on-line channels and connected TV's.

all in HD too!

Rachel has tonnes of radio experience (she'll always be the Rachel in "Rick and Rachel in the morning... Power FM!" to me...) so it's a good fit for her, and Murdoch now owns Talksport as well as the majority of Sky so it's a quick and easy value add, but BBC 5 live have exclusive radio rights for a great number of years to come... so presumably they won't be able to broadcast from the circuits, or include any material that comes from the circuits, including commentary (as a non-news show presumably they wouldn't even be able to include any clips at all)?

If because of the above, it has to be UK studio based, then as a one-off I guess it's OK, but if this is planned to be an ongoing thing (as the name suggests) wouldn't it make sense to just play out the midweek F1 report thing currently on Sky on talksport 2, as they're going to end up being largely the same programme?

Whatever I'll stick with 5 live and give this a wide berth. Hearing Herbert's limited punditry on yet another programme doesn't appeal stangely.

It'll be interesting to see now News UK own talksport how much over the next few years the amount of money spent on radio broadcast rights of sport by the BBC gets attacked in The Sun and The Times...

Ecclestone told the Sunday Times: "People have a much shorter attention span and a lot of sports are looking at introducing shorter forms of their games.

"We need to look at the traditional concept of one long race. Two 40-minute races with a 40-minute break in the middle when the drivers could be interviewed, cars worked on, would be attractive to viewers, the TV companies, the sponsors and advertisers would love it."

Bernie clearly wants to run the WTCC after F1.

What would the two races involve then? I can think of a qualifying race but what would the other race involve?

Having a break in the middle of the race is a terrible idea, allows viewers to switch off somewhere else. I suppose it would be good for broadcasters like Channel 4/NBC for advertising revenue like Bernie said but having a break and grabbing a driver for a couple of words is pointless and too desperate...

Very easy way of increasing the number of races in a season.

I'd like to see the return of the non-championship race as a means of trying out young drivers, instead of the mid and post season tests.

It's an alternative to double points for a single race and not a total loss for a team when both cars go out on the 1st lap (like the Merc's) - I like the idea

2 races in F1. Forget it.

The pinnacle... The top end... The 1 hour 30-45 marathon of action...

It is people's own fault for 'less attention span these days'

If F1 went the 2-race format I really would prefer smoething more like the GP2 race format and have the races over 2 days, not the race-break-race format proposed here.

And even then ideally the Sunday race would be the same length as it is now.

Only if the damage is relatively light, if you can't get the car back to the pits after an early exit on the first race you're always struggling to be ready for the second race if it's a short break.

Sorry for the multi-postings...just watching Motors TV's coverage of the Macau F3 race. Does the "delayed" refer to the fact the commentary isn't live or the fact the commentary is massively lagged to the pictures?!

I also love their amazingly retro onboard graphics. 80's tastic!

As JP mentioned in an earlier post (thanks JP!), the Macau car races (F3 & GT3 World Cups) were streamed live via Livestream. Today's race was at 7 AM, UK time. The full race videos and post-race press conference are all there to watch. https://livestream.com/macau-gp/events/6620992

I thought the lead commentator (who I didn't get the name of) was a bit overexcited, but not shouty, thankfully.

Jonathan Green, I think. He only seems to have one setting, marked "trousers on fire".

Sky in releasing new F1 material shocker...

They used to do a journalist special mid-way through the season during the break, but I'm pretty sure they didn't do that this time around.

The new owners of Motors TV will retain a traditional linear service following last week's takeover announcement.

Quote:
“sources have confirmed that rather than just transitioning to video-on-demand, linear broadcasting will continue in addition to the revamped video-on-demand service, with the channel getting a full HD outlet on some platforms across Europe from 1st March 2017. Currently Motors TV HD, where distributed, is upscaled. The channel has also confirmed that is "evaluating" its distribution channels in the UK and that its Sky outlet will continue alongside the new online service.”

That will be one of the first yellow marker pen highlighters in the Christmas radio times double issue for me
Always enjoy the season reviews and the Journo ones that Sky does

Had to laugh at the Metro newspaper in their F1 article yesterday (I think it was) using the phrase "the so-called 'Duel in the Desert'" in reference to the Abu Dhabi GP.

They do realise it's not an official title, right? Just the overactive imagination of the Sky marketing department?

Duel in the Desert was also used in 2014, it's not a Sky creation - https://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2014/...in-the-desert/

Fair enough - my bad.

But who's creation is it?

I've seen it in a press release from the circuit, and on the F1 website.

It's probably something coined by the circuit promoters the first time we had such a situation in Abu Dhabi.

Interestingly this graphic is on the Official F1 website: http://www.formula1.com/content/fom-...9918445730.jpg

I wonder if Liberty is going to mandate the slanted look returns for the 2017 graphics or something? I'm probably overthinking thing as usual, but you never know...
