While they probably didn't care which of their drivers won, because either way they will still have the World Champion driving for them next year, but just think about this for a moment:
Which is better for potential sponsors (and current sponsors):
"We have four time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, and the son of a World Champion."
or
"Both of our drivers are World Champions."
Not that I'm suggesting this is true, but it may benefit them from a team perspective.
