Looks like the French Grand Prix is returning to F1 from 2018 on a 5-year deal according to multiple reports with a presentation happening on Monday. It's reported that the GP will take place at Le Castellet which is home to the Paul Ricard circuit but the reports don't directly mention directly it's taking place at PR.
Would be great though for F1 to return to Paul Ricard and adds another European race to the calendar, I do wonder though this would be the full killer for the German GP? |

For tradition reasons, we need France back.
But not there. |

Awful circuit. Another car park to add to the calendar.

I miss the French GP - but more Magny-Cours... However last few butcher corners killed that one stone-dead a bit for me.

I wouldn't have said that suggested anything either way.

Aside from the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans (which F1 Drivers hated in 1967), where else could you hold a French Grand Prix nowadays, apart from Paul Ricard & Mangy Cours (which I love as a race track, I have to say, and its a shame the FFSA stopped funding it there), although I gather it's too remote and has poor accommodation?
Then again, Paul Ricard has F1 pedigree too, so I don't feel it should be discounted. I think it's long straights & sweeping corners would be good for overtaking. Although I can imagine a few uninformed people deriding it as another Tilke-drome (which of course it isn't, it was around long before Tilke came on to the scene properly). |

You seen what the Nations Cup is called now the ROC is in Miami for 2017? "America vs the World"... Currently they have 5 drivers on their national team whereas everyone else has 2...
The track layout now looks more easier to understand though (Both setting off in the same direction, but one car goes left, the other right by the looks of things: http://mlb.mlb.com/mia/images/ballpa...ting_chart.jpg & https://s2-roc.thirdlight.com/file/1...b%20header.jpg And no barrier separanting the main straight. Are mercedes doing their own little ROC style event this year too? Stars in Fast Cars, wasn't it called? |

I think, the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans should be given a chance.
If nothing else it would make great marketing "Formula 1 at Le Mans" |

The other problem I find, is they seem to hang on the celeb shot for too long, its as though they are waiting for the celeb to wave at the camera. How often after a second do most of us just shout at the screen, Get off!
For me the only real place for a celeb shot is as a reaction to events on track and should only be used as a end-shot on a replay. Rowan Atkinson's face really did add to the coverage. Long lingering shots of whichever Williams sister isn't watching the racing does not. I'm quite tolerant of cut aways compared to many on here but the second half of this year has absolutely done my head in - something exciting about to happen - let's cut away from the track to see someone also not see what they want to see! Crazy. |

Nico Rosberg has retired from F1 with immediate effect? WTF? I know he's a father now, but I don't think any of us were expecting that... I think if anything I was expecting Lewis to leave the team... http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/...es-formula-one

Is there still a circuit at Dijon? I remember going there in the dim and distant past and climbing over the 12' fence after the race to get to the pit lane only to find that the gates had been thrown open and security had vanished.

Wow, shock news about Nico retiring breaking on Sky News. Maybe he didn't like what the team has decided about Lewis' tactics.

But not there. From a racing standpoint it should also be far better than Magny-Cours (Certainly was last time F1 raced on it) which lets not forget was usually one of the most boring races of the season & often dubbed Magny-Bores by fans. To be honest i'd much rather watch a race at Paul Ricard than Magny-Cours. |

I've love to be a fly on the wall of Bernie's office when he found out. Theres one thing worse than a boring champion.. and that's a sport with no champion at all. |

Nah his statement is clear.. winning the title was all he wanted, now he's achieved that he doesn't want to risk it with a family. Sounds like he decided to go prior to the race on Sunday and decided 100% the Monday after.

Would be cool if Vettel or Alonso end up in the car.

Could be disastrous for F1 - if Wehrlein isn't up to speed and Merc dominate, the last thing the sport needs is another 2002/2004.
