Hold a two race meeting at the wettest circuit and call it the "Tena xxxxxx Grand Prix"
Ideal for when it's pissing down over two legs. |

Don't they already have extra festivities, concerts etc at many F1 events. Wouldn't it just be an extension of that.
How about the "Sky is great, but Virgin and BT suck British Grand Prix" (and the food is excellent !! ) |

I doubt Liberty Media would insult a Liberty Global company - maybe the "Sky and Virgin Media are great for different reasons, but BT really do suck big time British Grand Prix"

So, are we ready to launch "Motorsport coverage - The Verdict 2017 season" thread?

Would be a better idea than just having it titled F1 |

As long as we don't lose the MotoGP thread as discussion of that can get buried on a weekend of interesting F1 action - not that it happens that often.

![]() But watched the TT 2016 sidecars on itv4 recently. That was great racing. Did have a go the sidecars in a track day at Thruxton many years ago, it was not easy. Will look out for more I think, not sure if its broadcast anywhere regularly though. Hopefully on the new look Motors TV, as not seeing Sky showing it. |

We don't yet know the C4/Sky picks for 2017, or whether anyone is joining the C4/Sky team. So not quite yet

In other news, as it is pissing down outside with no sign of letting up I have cancelled my run for today and instead completed my 2017 motorsports calendar on outlook.com covering MotoGP, WSB, BSB, F1 and BTCC. ![]() With the busy schedules there are about four weekends of heavy MotoGP / F1 clashes with little in the way of time difference to separate them.

Something that i've noticed since last season ended is just how much of a break from F1 I really needed & subsequently just how much I really don't want them to add any more races.
I said 2-3 months back that the increase in the number of races, How little breaks we had between races & how many back to back's we had last year had really burnt me out & that I was at the point over the final few races & just wishing it would end already. I guess that the fact i've not throughout about F1 much at all since the end of the season shows just how badly burnt out I actually got. I only started watching the post season programs that were aired this afternoon & even then didn't feel like watching anything more after I finished Sky's Rosberg retirement program. I'm sure that come the car launches, Testing & the 1st race weekend i'll be excited to get the action started again but I worry that towards the end of this season i'll start to get tired of it again & the more races they add they worse I think that will get. |

I've said before that the more coverage we've got in recent years as good as it is the amount of VT's of the same action and commentary cheeseball lines from Croft over multiple times a weekend and heard every weekend means nothing is as good to the memory to me say to picking a race from 2002 or 2003. Last race in recent years I think I could confidently watch and enjoy would probs be Brazil 2012. Yes other good races since but just done to death with overplay montage overload. The fact is too a wet race is just a big joke health and safety malark. Maybe slight hint of improvement that we'll get a standing start after a wet SC start... Just need to get going well before Inters are getting punted out. I enjoy the extra coverage obviously post races and what not. However sometimes in the 2000s rocking up with Jim, Tony and Mark after 2 weeks of barely hearing a thing about what has went on bar the odd F1-ITV web page and you got this big catch up of news, bit preview, bit Beverley Turner and Jarno Trulli ![]() and then the action. Just add an extra hour of post race then great. Perfecto.

I think F1 might get lucky this year, new regs help Red Bull but Mercedes will still have an engine advantage. Could be really close.

I am new and always watch the Sky coverage on race weekends.
Anyone think that come 2019, Sky will start evolving their pundits with Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, JB available? DC could join the Sky commentary team because I enjoyed his partnership with Brundle in 2011. This season looks set to be close but the races will have to step up in quality because I found most of the GP2 rounds were more entertaining than the F1 races. Baku should be one to watch because the GP2 races were just wild and that perhaps made the F1 drivers more concerned about keeping out of trouble last year and this year should hopefully produce something vastly different. |

At the end of a season, id be jumping and chomping at the bit for the new season to get under way but this one, im left feeling like if the new season never came, i wouldn't be too arsed! The bad racing, coverage, squabbling and general immaturity of the season, F1 has kinda disheartened me. Sky's coverage is a joke, it is so stale, tired and has jokes like Johnny Herbert and David Croft and his tired old BS. Sky's love of nonsensical VT's to fill the time and then babbling on and on and on and on about the same damn thing before finally letting Ted have 10-15 minutes to actually talk on an intelligent level took alot out of my love for the sport too! I honestly don't know if i will watch the new season, even with the changes coming, because im just not looking to waste 3-4 hours of my Sunday and a couple of hours on a Saturday on a sport that has me feeling like the sport has well and truly got lost. Maybe the changes will bring some life back into it, i hope so, but i don't miss F1 right now. |
