Confirmed:

- Speed with Guy Martin: F1 Special (Thursday 17th March, 21:00-22:00, Channel 4)
- Formula 1: Fast and Furious (Friday 18th March, 21:00-21:05, Channel 4)

She left after a couple of races

She was pure awful....

On the subject of Suzi Perry going to BT, I thinks that proves the good relationship that BBC/BT have with each over, I've seen loads of BBC Football Commentators pop-up on BT from time to time so the news that Suzi Perry going to BT just add's to the good relationship.

So the F&F program is just 5 minutes then... What's the point of the program then??

Is it just me who's not particularly fond of tweets that are the modern equivalent of "I know something you don't know." It just creates a load of noise and speculation. I know it probably wasn't meant that way, but functionally that's all it is. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood tonight

I think James Allen has matured an awful lot as a broadcaster over the last few years, no issues with him returning if that is the case.

Sorry, I must just be slow on the up-take.

How did we get from the tweets Frank Furt linked to, to James Allen going back to TV?

At a guess it will be to catch the attention of the Friday night C4 viewers without destroying the usual schedule.

James Allen is leaving Radio 5 Live - he's not part of their 2016 coverage.

Hello first time poster! My guess would be that- if that info is correct and the programme is only 5 minutes- it will serve as an extended advert probably showing the whole C4F1 team and teasing the F1 season on Channel 4. A bit like the 5 minute trailer Sky released when they launched the F1 channel.
Very much looking forward to the C4 coverage, have a feeling I may watch it quite a lot this year, despite having stuck with Sky since their start in 2012. The Sky coverage is becoming weaker unfortunately with less appearances from Anthony Davidson and more reliance on Johnny Herbert, the coverage is a little stale. Damon, Martin and Ted are all still big plus points on Sky for me and I like Crofty quite a lot too, but the cuts to their budget seem to make the show quite limited and waffly without much being added by their all too consistent punditry line up. Lazenby doesn't seem to get the best out of them either, but on the whole their show is normally watchable.
It will just be quite exciting to watch a brand new venture in the form of Channel 4, Steve Jones is an interesting pick (if that is who it turns out to be) and James Allen is the big surprise but he is actually quite a good commentator now but most people probably hold his weaker years on ITV against him- although in retrospect he had an impossible job in succeeding Walker. He was quite good by the end of his time on ITV and was always very listenable whenever I caught him on 5Live. But would be a big change for him from doing just over half the races to a full on 21 race calendar schedule on TV.
Hopefully Ben Edwards ends up on 5Live if James Allen is going to C4.

Hope the Channel 4 team will be announced very soon, not very far away from Australia at all now- sure it's all sorted. I'm just impatient and would like to know the team!

Sorry, I understand now! I read your comment of "the other is very badly wrong" as referring to the tweets themselves, which I couldn't get my head round! But you were specifically referring to the talk of them staying with 5 Live.

Was having a bit of a head-scratching moment there, but it's just me being dense...normal service resumed...

I think he suffered from immediately succeeding the well beloved king of the F1 comms box and it was only after what followed we realised he was not that bad. The Busby / McGuinness syndrome if you like (or Ferguson / Moyes for you younger sports fans).

Audio problems on the notebook, background noise is higher than Ted.

Ted's notebook was really quiet, wasn't it? The camera turned away from him and I couldn't hear a thing!

I wonder if his hand held mic wasn't working and they only had audio from the camera or something. Incredibly hard to listen to, I could mainly hear the generators!

They were also filming it using a 360 degree GoPro setup that was been pulled along on a trolley or something.

Ted seemed to suggest there would be a bit more of that through the year.

Thought it was quiet towards the end of last week too.

Congrats to former Sky F1 presenter Georgie Ainslee (nee Thomson) who is expecting her first child.

Jennie Gow's tweet was interesting - about the 5 live 'team'...

Quote:
“Make sure you listen at 9pm Thursday night as the ‘team’ bring you a preview to the @5liveSport #F1 season.”

AFAIC, The best bit of Sky's coverage, by a country mile, is Ted Kravitz and his notebook. And there's only one person I can think of who could out Ted Ted, and that's James Allen. May be massively wide of the mark, but just saying...

Yep, got to agree there. I said it last year and I'll repeat it today, Ted's the biggest asset Sky have got in front of the camera in the F1 coverage. Even when I watch the FTA coverage, I always make sure to watch the notebooks from the Sky coverage.

You can tell how serious he is about it all when you saw how proud he was showing us all the on-site broadcast facilities last year.

Logical choice would be Craig Doyle left to go back to rugby.

If James Allen returns to TV commentary I'll seriously be considering Channel 4 for the live races. Delighted if he did. Enjoyed him/Brundle partnership.

Hope Allen is no where near C4F1. Cannot stand him and never have!

The later repeat was ok - always have to record that one as there's always planner overload at between 8 and 9pm in our house! Maybe they managed to clean up the audio in between times? (I've no idea how these things work, so that's a guess!)

And another huge Ted fan here - he's required viewing in our house no matter what!

Ooooh, Melbourne's getting close now... painful though getting up so early is, it has to be done!
