Wonder what that means for Formula E...

He'll have to miss some races that clash with F1 commitments, I can see a good chance of Ben Constanduros sitting in for races that Jack can't do.

"@_markgallagher 'Cerebral' insights on #F1 testing (not mere moving pictures) @5liveSport 9pm tonight with @Jack_Nicholls @JennieGow @TomClarksonF1 & Co"

The pieces are falling into place...

So by all the information we are getting this is the lineup for C4 and 5 Live at the moment:

C4 F1:
Presenters: Steve Jones, David Coulthard (Some Races)
Pundits: David Coulthard, Mark Webber, Susie Wolff, Guy Martin, Alan Prost (Maybe)
Commentators: Ben Edwards, David Coulthard
Pit Lane: Lee McKenzie, Karun Chandhok, James Allen (Possibly Stand In?)

5 Live F1:
Commentators: Jack Nicholls, Allan McNish
Pit Lane: Tom Clarkson, Jennie Gow
Pundit: Mark Gallagher

The above looking accurate to me although if the above is fully true then Coulthard has a hell load of roles, I would think he would ditch the punditry role for the races he presents.

I just can't vision David Coulthard presenting. It'd be too weird. Although maybe that's what people said about Gary Lineker, I'm not sure, I'm too young to have any idea.

Jonathan Palmer proving again that he is out of touch re Max Verstappen's youth and openness appealing to a new generation. I look forward to muting the sound whenever he pops up this year as an apologist for Renault/Jolyon.

What did he say?

Surely C4 needs to get a wiggle on now with their presenter announcement?

If they're not careful, it's all going to come out by default or by a process of elimination from other people's announcements/tweets/whatever and they potentially won't get the attention they could have had.

8th March, apparently.

Test 2, Day 3:

Ted's notebook:

At around 29:30 into the SSN Reports there's a bit of a blooper with the camera cutting back to Craig while it looks like he's sleeping.

I think Coulthard will make a good presenter actually.

Slightly p'd off with Hamilton & Hulkenberg's comments re. the Halo. Both are part of the GPDA are they not? And a while ago, the GPDA insisted (I think unanimously) on cockpit/head protection for the drivers for 2017. So for them to come out & criticise it as GPDA members when they had their chance to get their points across to those who matter in private, is exceedingly hypocritical.

Personally I think a fully enclosed cockpit would offer better all-round protection, as if the angle of impact is severe enough, a piece of debris could still get through the halo.

If you want closed cockpit racing go and watch sportscars.

I think canopies are inevitable. But they're still single seaters, and assuming they have open wheels then they're significantly different from sportscars.

The designs that have appeared look pretty good IMO.

Elimination qualifying voted through by the WMSC in its original form (All 3 segments will feature the new elimination system) & will be implemented for Melbourne.

Not neccessarily. Some LMP2 cars have open cockpits. Formula Cars are open-WHEEL cars, not open-cockpit.

Wonder what this means for Allen and his role as FOM press conference interviewer.

There's a video on the F1 website and app of Vettel onboard with the halo on the car. I have to say, it looks awful.

Next year LMP2 will have to be closed cockpits too:

It does seem to be the way things are going, and LMP1 has disproved a lot of the safety concerns about drivers being trapped in the cars etc.

I'm wondering if the air box structure can be extended over the drivers head in some way - though obviously it would have to be easily removed. Was it the Lotus 78 that had a twin intake air box. Along those lines maybe ? Obviously it would have to be a far stonger structure that a normal air box.

Nothing surely? Peter Windsor was the FOM press conference moderator for ages while still being SPEED's pitlane reporter.

We've come a long way from the "Bathtub" Tyrrell that we often see clips of Brundle driving.

I always liked Karun so I think that's some good news.

Why haven't they announced everyone else yet?
