A very impressive line-up from Channel 4, as DMN says they've had very little time to get this together but they have done a very good job in finding a wide variety of pundits, all of whom will offer something to the proceedings.
Steve Jones- Is a complete gamble, could be brilliant, could be awful. We'll just have to wait and see. He seems to have matured quite a lot from his earlier work and settled down, they are also emphasising he's a big F1 fan which is good, as knowledge is key in that role.
David Coulthard- A strong and steady hand, which is what C4 were probably after in the very short time they had to prepare a team. He's the best choice, however, to lead their team.
Mark Webber- The pundit I am perhaps most excited to see, you can imagine that he will be forthright in his views and undoubtedly has an up to date knowledge of the sport as well as links to many drivers, which may help C4 when looking for interviews post-race etc. Roll on Mark Webber interviewing Sebastian Vettel!

Also nice to see that Mark is doing all/most of the live races, which is more than I thought he would commit to. Although somebody has already pointed out he can't do Azerbaijan but still good to have a big name in the coverage.
Alain Prost- An even bigger name of course and it will be intriguing to see what sort of a role Prost plays, whether its just sporadic little appearances for 10 mins at a GP he's already attending or whether he will be an actual pundit for C4. Either way he's a great coup for them, as is Webber, bet Sky would have loved to have set up a link with either of those-especially Webber.
Susie Wolff- Another one who is meant to be at all the live races and imagine she'll probably be one of the most frequent contributors. She's struck me as a little bland at times, but pundits often are when they are just short-term guests, now she has a settled role hopefully she can come out of her shell a bit and be another good contributor.
Eddie Jordan- I know lots of people aren't a fan of EJ, but his ability to take an unorthodox view on something is broadcasting gold and is in heavy contrast to Sky where everyone often just seems to agree with each other. His appearances will be limited, which is probably a positive thing as I felt that he was getting a little tired of it all by the end on the BBC. Yet he'll still be there to add a little colour which is very good and also C4, I'm sure, will be hoping that he'll be able to give them any exclusives like the Hamilton/Schumacher ones he's had in the past. A little thing, but another edge they have over Sky.
Lee McKenzie- A trusted face, knows what she's doing and has a good relationship with the drivers. What else could you want?
Karun Chandhok- Good to see that C4 haven't just gone for 'a poor man's Ted', they've tried something new by putting a driver in this role and I have a feeling that it will really work. Chandhok is someone who always strikes me as being comfortable in front of camera, plus as he has been in F1 he won't shy from giving his opinions etc which is another positive. Also I'm sure he could double up as the '3rd Amigo' alongside SJ & DC if C4 were a little light one weekend, due to this racing experience.
Ben Edwards- The best available option for the role, must admit for the races themselves, I nearly always opt for Crofty, Brundle & Ted and I don't see that changing but Edwards is still a very good motorsport commentator and does the job just fine.
Murray Walker- A man who has stolen quite a lot of headlines with his 'return' but don't see his role being too different from what it was at the BBC, just occasional titbits, which are obviously limited due to his age. But you imagine he would have wanted to have been involved so nice to see that he is.
Bruno Senna- One of Sky's stronger assets and he's going to be on C4, although the release says that Senna will be there for 'special features' only, so whether Senna has opted to do this instead of his Sky work or whether he will be able to continue the Sky work alongside remains to be seen. Sky- in their other sports- very rarely go near someone if they've transferred to a different channel, will be interesting to see if their F1 coverage follows the same policy.
So overall a very strong line-up and one that has got me seriously considering watching C4 for their live races, for the build-up and post race at the very least. It's in commentary with Crofty, Martin & Ted that Sky are really exceptional. The range and depth of the opinions that C4 are able to use, however, are far wider than what Sky have available to them- which is essentially 3 1990's racing drivers and the ever more sporadic appearances from Anthony Davidson. Now I'm a big fan of Hill, Brundle & AD, yet that doesn't mean that what they offer may be somewhat limited. Whilst JH is just repetitive now and him and Lazenby frustrate me at times.
The rotation idea is one that I was wary of at first, but am now growing to like as it will prevent the coverage from becoming stale or formulaic, if the rotation is done correctly that is- and the 'guest' pundit slots in at home straight away and doesn't feel like a peripheral part to the coverage.
Final thing- for the highlights weekends is it going to be just Steve Jones & DC, or will they be using guest pundits during these shows as well? Maybe DMN will be able to answer that as he was at the press launch. I imagine the most likely scenario is that it will be SJ &DC (with a bit of help from Karun) for most highlights weekends apart from the really high profile ones e.g. the season launch in Australia and Monaco etc.
LONG POST OVER: Basic point is- C4 have put together a very strong team in a very short time and I'm excited to see what they produce over this season.
Of course it will take time for their coverage to bed in but it still has the possibility to really challenge Sky which I hope it will. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic- but wouldn't it be lovely if C4's coverage was of a high quality/ popular and it was able to challenge for the F1 rights for themselves after 2018? And I say that as someone who has watched Sky F1 almost consistently since it's start.
