Correct, Jones definitely referenced watching every session from 2015 across the past six weeks.

I recall him saying that he hasn't followed it religiously over the years but I'd have to go back through my recording to find the exact phrase that he said!

He did say that Jay Hunt called him to ask whether he was an F1 fan, and the conversation went from there.

Chatty Man's an odd one to be on. Would have thought appearing on Sunday Brunch would be more aimed at the Target mark.

I decided to stick with it... Wish I hadn't. Coulthard pretending to offer Alan Carr a blow Job... giving the finger... I truly hope this sort of thing doesn't get into the proper F1 shows. One word for CH4 F1 so far.. Embarrassing.

I doubt the F1 coverage will be anything like Alan Carr's Chatty Man tbh. I wouldn't watch that show expecting any serious discussion of F1 coverage. It's all a bit of fun.

DC can be a bit juvenile/puerile when he's in banter mode with his paddock pals. I find it cringeworthy.

Still, at least he'll be safely constrained by a pre-watershed timeslot for most of the year and since it was Chatty Man, I'll let him off just this once. I'm so benevolent ☺

Murray Walker talking to the Grauniad's Paul Weaver:
"Last year I watched every second of every race on both channels,” he said, eyes gleaming. “And practice too."

I kind of assumed that with Murray they were just going to use him the same way BBC did - some semi-regular pre-recorded interviews/conversations and then drop them in at appropriate points in the weekend/buildup.

But no, it seems he is actually travelling to (some of) the races. Pretty impressive for someone his age!

Nice to think he is still enjoying it and enjoying his twilight years, he deserves it.
Be nice to hear him again with these interviews, been too long.

Did watch that Chatty Man thing (well FF to the F1 bit),. Good grief, what utter garbage.
Suppose they had to appear on there as it was C4.
Coulthard went way down in my view. Did not realise how pathetic and vulgar he can be. That Steve Jones guy was very quiet and has a very mumbled voice, maybe his mic was not working.
So C4 F1 will be dumbed down then like many have been saying, shame!

By the way;
For those that have moved to Sky Q and had the BT sport package.
Make sure you make the phone call to BT, as you have to let them know you are adding your sub to a mini. The offer is they give you the multi screen on the mini now for free.
Also your bill gets halved to £9.99 a month for all the BT sport channels if you take it for 12 months. Some only got a 6 month deal rising to £13.99, so negotiate hard.
Only place I think in the UK for for the Indycar.

I love the idea of Murray sitting in front of two giant TVs; one with Sky and one with the BBC. I hope that's what he meant.

I recorded Chatty Man. From what people have said perhaps I'll just delete it.

Chatty Man is a light entertainment show. Not sure what you were expecting.

Not sure what the fuss about Steve Jones being an F1 fan or not is when Suzi Perry was well known not to like F1 before she got the presenting gig.

For me, whether or not she's considered as the best presenter of Formula 1 out there, I like Suzi as a person, and I enjoyed watching her on The Gadget Show. Steve Jones I can't stand, I've never been able to stand much more than 5 minutes of him before switching off, I think he's got a huge ego, with very little to back it up.

Agreed, just caught up with it and it was evidently just a bit of light-hearted fun. As for DC, he actually went up in my estimation- he was quite funny and played along with it nicely and perhaps contradicted the idea that he's just a bit of a monotone bore. I mean, he really couldn't go on there and start talking about Ferrari's change to push-rod suspension this season!

Jones being quite quiet somewhat encouraged me, he knew that DC was the better known of the two and was the person that most of the questions would be addressed to and didn't try to steal the limelight or try too hard. It was a fear of mine that he would be this loud, brash host, but he didn't appear to be on Chatty Man, so that may a real positive if that carries through to the new season.

I made it 30 seconds. It started with Alan Carr getting the season start date wrong, and went downhill from there. .

Thought DC (and Steve Jones) played the Alan Carr show very well - Ollie_S98 is spot on about Steve not trying to steal the limelight - he's well aware that some people like Loz think he has a huge ego based on his entertainment shows, so he quite rightly defers F1 questions to DC leaving lettice (a.k.a Lazenby's mum judging by how much they jump to defend sky and attack any other F1 broadcaster) to call him quiet and mumbly - guess you can't win! And DC almost got a round of applause out of the audience for his piece about how it doesn't matter whether you're man/woman/straight/gay - in Formula 1 once you put the helmet on you all compete equally. Fantastic way to unite C4's core audience and values with F1, and help bring a new audience to F1.

While Channel 4 caters for the new audience of F1, the miserable yesterday's men on Sky can keep going on for hours about how the sport is ruined and broken and depress the older fans into losing interest in the sport. With Bruno, Karun and Wolff all previously associated to a greater or lesser extent with Sky's coverage I guess Sky will come across even more like an old boys club now (although presume Paul De Resta might get used more).

As for DC's lack of maturity on Chatty Man, God only knows how bad Herbert and Lazers would have been on there...

Juts been reading our good scoop man on here blog.
Looking like we have lost the best commentary team then.
Jack Nicholls not doing some of the Formula e races later this year and Dario not there this weekend.
Real shame, as they are the best partnership for me and make that series so watchable.
What is Dario doing at Indy then?
Is radio the only path then to F1 tv comms, would love Jack to do that.

Also, anyone know what commentary or broadcaster we will get for the indy on Sunday on BT sport?

ABC is broadcasting the race in the US, so we should hear Allen Bestwick on commentary.

I'm more than a casual fan and I don't follow him. In fact I don't follow any teams or drivers, just journalists so I can pick up on the gossip.

That's because you're clearly more than a casual fan though, and you know you'll find out all the important stuff from the journos, as you've said.

A 'casual' fan is obviously far more likely to follow the likes of Lewis Hamilton instead of Jon Noble.

As far as I'm aware the only real motorsports fan who's presented F1 (unless you count Murrays highlights intro during the 80's) was/is Steve Rider.

So you start by slagging a poster for being a fan of one broadcaster and running down other broadcasters - then you go on to attack Sky......presumably without any irony
