Too much and It becomes flotsam, it's one of the main reasons I no longer post in here, it's tiresome reading the same old.

I'm not stopping anyone else from posting. I'd be mortified if I did that and I certainly don't want anyone to stop posting because of me. it's a public forum - you can all say what you want - don't hold back on my part

Anyway, Sky, FOM & Williams have shot 2 pieces of content on 360-vision (during pre-season testing at Barcelona) which will let viewers experince the footage in VR: http://www.a516digital.com/2016/03/s...l-reality.html

Just on this one the TV3 rights are for Catalunya only, although it mirrors the TV deal for the whole of Spain. In the rest of Spain telefonica now have exclusive rights to F1 to be shown on Movistar F1 with TVE the public broadcaster showing only the Spanish GP (Quali + Race). Just 60 minutes of highlights on Teledeporte on Sunday, or Esport 3 in Catalunya of all the other races

Is Germany now the only country in Europe with FTA coverage throughout the season?

French-speaking Belgium is still FTA on RTBF. (Qualifying and race only.)

Channel 4 may want all of the F1 if it works out for them, The half half deal is just taking over what is left of BBC at the moment.

Do you think VR will really add anything long term to F1?
I've seen quite a bit of it at trade shows over the last few years and its ok, but sort of end up thinking, what's it adding to something like F1, is it taking away the true rawness of the engine, noise and the weather. Its almost like its creating something more unnatural.
Its a bit like cgi, its great sometimes, but its all getting so tiresome with London blowing up every week.

One thing I did notice, Jonathan Legard was the commentator wasn't he during that. It was not his greatest performance to start with, seemed as though he was cut off or broke mid sentence many times and a few mistakes that got corrected. But as it went on I enjoyed the way he commentated.

Well its not really CGI in that it's of a real image (just shot from lots of angles) - think of it as like a 360 degree video. But personally I have eyesight problems, so the effect doesn't work for me i'm afraid. Same with 3D stuff too.

Wonder what everyone thinks of the new MotoGP graphics... I still need to give it time.

PS: Talking about MotoGP it's now being fully covered by the Autosport Magazine for 2016

Look like they have been designed to be easier to read on a small mobile screen and look way too large and solid for a normal TV.

Add in that the summary screens at the end do not show a sensible nine riders (three rows) per page after the first page which is a blunder IMHO.

And they got the coverage details wrong as well: Sunday warm-ups are on BTSX2 *not* BTS2.

I think the new MotoGP graphics are good looking as such. But they are a bit "busy" with so many animations when the name of the driver appears on screen for instance.

First hate about the graphics... They are displaying pointless Twitter messages

Seems a little odd for Channel 4's twitter to plug when FP1/FP2 are live when they are not showing them.

There is live 'tweet commentary' on Twitter so maybe that's why there is a bit of promotion on practice times.

I'll defently pring back a positive, the new opening sequence looks bloody fantastic. Defently eye-catching and addictive to watch!

Karun Chandhok has been tweeting saying that he will be in the pitlane for FP1 and in the commentary box for FP2+FP3. Assume, obviously, that this is for the weekends that C4 are live and broadcasting practice. But it does give us an insight into how the coverage will work for the practice sessions.

Also, below, is a link to a tweet by Whisper Films with a series of stills from what appears to be the opening titles. They look quite cool but obviously you can only tell so much from a couple of pictures!

I kind of like the fact they even thought to put up a video detailing the new graphics package!

I noticed for the first time the other day that the WSBK were using a variant of what is now the old MotoGP graphics - don't watch WSBK all that much any more but don't think I'd noticed that before, when did they start using that set?

Perhaps they're selling the commentary to other broadcasters, and need the coverage of Free Practice for the non-live weekends for that.

Not sure if this has been posted. Very interesting to hear - are there any other broadcasters which take their entire broadcast (i.e. pre/post coverage) from another channel?

Pretty sure Fox Sports Australia also take all of Sky's coverage. Interesting stuff about TSN. I think they've had BBC commentary for the past few years.

It's interesting those world wide broadcasters that took the BBC commentary/coverage - the non-live weekends BBC had practice commentary anyway - which I presume TSN etc took? So what about now? Will Ch4 guys do commentary for those that are planning to use them on non-live Fridays?

That would certainly tie in with Chandhok saying he's commentating FP2 & 3 as Ollie mentions. I wonder if they sort of inherited those deals, or if they'd have had to renegotiate individually.

Yes Fox Sports Australia takes all of (Practice, All Qualifying and all race (ad free) and the F1 show) Sky Sports coverage. They do that alot with the EPL, Cricket etc. Both of them are owned by Murdoch so there is a link.
