Looks like Webber is still doing some work for TEN Sport. James appears to be at TEN too.

Disappointed that Sky are still using that HUGE Sky Sports F1 logo and adding a red blob to the end of it too!

I'm not 100% against them restricting elements of it but I really don't like how far they have gone as I love hearing the team radio chatter & fear that were now hardly going to hear anything because there doesn't seem to be much left that they can actually say.

Seems there is a new FOM Data channel, Which Sky don't seem to have taken.

Interesting. Liking the new feed. So are Sky still showing the old text-only timing page then? Interesting, you'd think not only that FOM would have replaced the timing page with the Data one, but also Sky would have offered the data page instead of the timing one too... Still, I guess Sky's Red button mux must be limited on space.

Also if the Data channel doesn't show the individual sector times, then that's one reason why FOM might still be offering the timing channel.

Also, Re. team radio, there were 4 messages posted on F1 Access throughout FP1.

All four of which failed to play automatically through the f1 app

Well they played OK for me on a Google/LG Nexus 5, but you're right, the app isn't very stable. You can also listen to the clips (in higher quality) on the timing page on the F1 website too.

Jack Nicholls & Tom Clarkson are doing the comms for 5Live with Jennie Gow in the pit lane. Presumably, they will stay like that for all/most of the season.

Looks like SkyQ customers will be getting extra features on the red button:

Seems they've removed the engine manufacturer from the world feed graphics. The cynic in me says its so they aren't constantly 'advertising' a company that's not the official time supplier of Formula 1.

I wonder if this'll give them the extra bandwidth to put the Data channel (and more onboards) on there?

Probably that & the fact that with Red Bull's engine being a rebadge under a sponsor name...

Do they show the engine manufacturer on the final end-of-session leaderboards too?
Update: I've answered my own question lol - Yes they do (on the final session classification screens).

Did listen to Jack Nicholls on 5 live for a small part of practice 2, he did a great job, but there was a big silence and jumping for about five minutes, they mentioned something about going to Cheltenham, but did not hear much, seemed like a few questions but only answers at one point too. Do they often go off in their F1 broadcasts to other sport?
Tom Clarkson was ok on the technical side but very jokey. Might have just been the lack of on-track action.

Sky Q red button worked very well and fast.
Seemed they were testing, as noticed some different layouts.

An autosport article about a press conference with Charlie Whiting has detailed a bit more about how the graphics will work for Qualifying:

There will be a normal countdown clock, counting down the total time of the qualifying segment, and a secondary clock in a different colour, counting down to zero for each elimination segment.

When a driver is eliminated, their name will be greyed out in timing graphics.

Karun Chandhok has been tweeting saying that he will be in the pitlane for FP1 and in the commentary box for FP2+FP3. Assume, obviously, that this is for the weekends that C4 are live and broadcasting practice. But it does give us an insight into how the coverage will work for the practice sessions.
He may be doing it this weekend as well, even if C4 isn't live, it's the best rehearsal they could get for when they do go live.

Despite the rumours that Setanta were going to continue with BBC 5Live commentary, it turns out they've actually opted for the C4 commentary instead. Ben Edwards and Tony Dodgens in the box at the moment, just like the past few years on the Beeb. Seems that Tony was brought onboard by Whisper as well to continue on in his role as the comms box statistician/practice commentator for Channel 4.

As others have already posted, Karun Chandok working the pits at the moment in the roving reporter/Ted Kravitz-style role.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see that, I wouldn't have thought Channel 4 would bothered on non live weekends, great to see continuity through the weekend.

OT: I'm thinking of subscribing to the F1 App this year. Is there a limit to the amount of devices you can simultaneously sign into? For example, can I use it on an iPad & Laptop at the same time? Could my daughter also use it on her iPhone?

Sorry to ask via this thread, but there is very little info around the app.

Gotta say, again, Jack Nicholls is such a natural and intuitive commentator. I think he'll be the doyen of future big time motorsports commentary.

Just finished watching FP1 with Setanta and the C4 team. Note that Ben did some Thursday interviews as well with Lee that were played out during FP1. He did invite viewers to tweet in using the hashtag #C4F1 and got some replies from South Africa who appear to be using the C4 feed as well. Funny incident with Chandok when he was chasing the Force India boss "Can I have a word, we're live on.... on air." to which Bob replied Welcome to Channel 4.

That was a rarity today. We did a chat with the main 5 live station about the Grand Prix, and as it was about 6am UK time we did it straight in from our live commentary. I tried to flag up what was about to happen, so sorry if that wasn't clear. The reason you didn't hear the questions is exactly because we don't jump around to other sports. On a Sunday afternoon if 5 live leave us to go to tennis for example, we then carry on commentating solely on 5 live Sports Extra / BBC Website / F1 App. So that 5 minutes with Cheltenham this morning was a very rare exception. Thanks for listening!

The new sky sport mix channel will launch this summer and free to all sky tv customers;
There will be some f1 I'm told.

Sky is launching a brand new sports channel – Sky Sports Mix – bringing a range of great moments from some of the world’s biggest sporting events to all its TV customers in the UK and Ireland at no extra cost. For the first time millions more Sky customers will be able to watch a mix of live sport including football, golf from Europe and the US, international cricket and much more as part of their basic subscription packages.

From the launch this summer viewers can look forward to regular live football from competitions including La Liga, MLS, FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers, as well as a select number of Premier League and Football League matches. Sky Sports Mix will also bring Sky’s long-standing commitment to women’s sport to a broader audience, with live women’s golf, cricket and netball. These will appear alongside shows like Game Changers and sporting masterclasses that connect Sky Sports to the passion that kids have for learning about and playing sport. The Sky Sports Mix channel line-up will also include insightful documentaries, sports entertainment shows and other sporting content that will amaze and inspire.

Do you get FOM's new 'Data' channel in your comms box by the way? I'm intrigued to work out what broadcasters are actually offering it to their viewers too, because Sky UK certainly aren't.

So it's basically a "Best of" for live sports? or a 'Sky Sports Lite' so to speak?
