Looks like Motors TV is not showing the WEC live this year going by their Twitter which may back up suggestions that BT Sport has poached it.

Defently some cost-cutting here otherwise you wouldn't be losing all these sports in this amount of time, as you know they haven't shown any V8 Supercars so far this year and coverage of the USCC is now online only.

Also I hope I'm not dreaming and making stuff up but do I have a feeling that BT is trying to purchase Motors and make that part of the BT Sport pack?

Do WEC archive races on there app or are they only available in full when there been shown live?

I like WEC & do watch the races but I very rarely watch them live so if MotorsTV have indeed lost the live rights & WEC don't archive the races on the app I'll be watching the 50min Youtube highlights this year more often than not.

Here is a 5 minute demo of the Data channel during the race:

Looking at WEC website it appears they just upload 5 minute and 52 minute highlights of races and certain highlights of the action on the track. I have not seen any full race reruns uploaded on their website.

Back to the subject of F1 and for those All4 viewers who hate the advert's, I can now give you some sigh of relief.

And NBC has extended their F1 contract!

This was possibly answered earlier in the thread, but...

What's the relevance of the hollow/filled in circle indicating tyres?

Filled a fitted new set, hollow - not.

Eurosport shared the live rights to the WEC this year as well as having exclusive rights to Le Mans (albeit with their own commentators rather than the WEC World feed team that was on Motors), so how does that affect things. One assumes Eurosport still have exclusive (apart from the WEC app) TV rights to Le Mans live still.

Sorry to go all nerdy on a technicality, but they couldn't call it RBR-Tag as Techniques d'Avant Garde is a separate company - and they actually still own 25% of McLaren.

They bought Heuer and added the TAG prefix. They later sold it on, but it remained as TAG-Heuer. So while some are saying "the TAG name is back in F1" is sort of is and isn't.

Think of this along the same lines as the Lotus name returning. Only with less bickering.
Geez. Frankly i'm surprised that TAG allowed Heuer to use their name after they sold it on...

I see the GPDA have signed an open letter calling on F1 to "restructure" it's governance...

That will do Sweet FA given that the individual driver's employers (at least the big ones like Ferrari & Merc) probably quite like how F1 is governed at the moment...

Sadly, the leading drivers & their own leading teams have conflicting interests (Hamilton & Rosberg want closer racing with their rivals - but Mercedes don't for sure...), so nothing will be done. Then when you have broadcasters effectively vetoing (by threatening to pull out of their contracts) changes to the race weekend structure (because it affects their TV advertising revenue), race promoters/circuit owners wanting their say, fans wanting their say (fans wanted less instructions to the drivers on team radio & now they complain when that happens).... it's just a mess. F1 has so many conflicts of interests from every side of the spectrum, that a coherent picture will never be devised.

That's the good news of course that at least the Le Mans 24h will still be shown live in full on Eurosport and I think that is still the case.

What we don't know now is who is taking Motors rights...

Will show all races until 2024

http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/124...019-until-2024

Sky Sports' new partnership with Formula 1:

Exclusive: Sky Sports will be the home of Formula 1 in the UK and Ireland from 2019 to 2024, offering live coverage of every Grand Prix.

Free to air: The FORMULA 1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX, together with highlights of all other races and qualifying sessions, will be shown on a 'free-to-air' basis.

Sky Sports Mix: Additionally, at least two other 'prime time' live races a season will be offered on the soon-to-be-launched Sky Sports Mix channel along with other F1 content.

UHD: For the first time every race starting with the 2017 championship will be shown in the stunning picture quality of Ultra High Definition via Sky Q, the next-generation home entertainment system.

Awful news. F1 used to be one of the top sports in the UK. This will complete its transition to being a niche sport in this country.

Every race in UHD that's pretty cool IF you can afford it.

It will be disappointing if is exclusive though as would harm the sport. I already think it's struggling. But sky do a good job covering it

Holy censored holy censored censored!!!! Who the censored saw THAT coming?
Did the GPDA know this was coming and it was part of their disillusionment with the sport? Is this the "broadcasting shocks" that someone (was it Maurice Hamilton) referenced a week or so ago?

Exclusively having every race live isn't the same as having every race exclusively live.

It was Ben Constsndous that said the above.

Anyway may I point out no mention on how much Sky payed for the extension and new rights although I expect FOM and Sky threw a huge amount of money for this new deal so I'm expecting close to £50million for the new deal.

Also the release does not mention the F1 channel at all, so it appears that the F1 Channel is dead from 2019.

Sky also confirmed that the sport will be shown (and presumably shot by FOM) in 4k from 2017 too it seems.

According to James Allen, FOM are working on an in-house streaming package though, so I wonder if they will launch that in 2019 too, hoping to catch the viewers who still won't subscribe to Sky?

I am not looking forward to the incoming overreaction from many people...

According to the press release they'll also show two other primetime races on Sky Sports Mix.

The UHD announcement interests me more. I assume this means FOM is upgrading rather than Sky filming it themselves.

So it was (I was too lazy to research - on train home from work - and I had low confidence in my guess....

So was there a fair and open bidding process for this?
